Fairford latest: Counter terror police investigating if Iran is linked to RAF base bomb plot, Sky News understands | UK News | Sky News https://share.google/cU4wjxGZBYQtIb3sx

I couldn't find a thread on this breaking news. How awful for everyone involved.

Someone put up a tweet about high alert at the base before the men were seen. But it sounds very amateur if the new theories are true.

I thought it was the farmer who did that on a watsapp.

Didn’t Trump say this was a successful joint US/British intelligence operation and they had been ‘watching’ them for a while ? very embarrassing declaration if it turns out to be red diesel thieves.

There is no way they would be allowed out on bail if it was a terrorist cell, they can hold them for 14 days, so it has to be a lesser crime or maybe a covert anti terrorism exercise gone tits up.

Edited

Even more embarrassing if they had been watching actual terrorists, only to assume that this arrest was them caught red handed, and it turns out it wasn't them but a bunch of small time thieves. So the actual terrorists have now been tipped off that they've been under surveillance and need to call off their plan. Phew. Close call. Well done Trump. 🤔

Lol, if it’s diesel or oil thievery I’d love to see the police interviews. I bet the “no comment” tactic will have gone right out the window. Must’ve been a bit of a shock for them when they know that the police don’t normally even show up let alone investigate.

Maybe the interviews will make it onto 24 hours in Police Custody.

Or take it up with her mother Siobhan Whyte who believes that her daughter's death has everything to do with immigration.

The point is we don't need asylum seekers like Deng Majek in our country. The risk is too high. And we can train our own doctors, which we should be doing anyway.

How long does it take to train a doctor - GP, resident, registrar, consultant?

Roughly 7 to 10 years.

MsJinks · 28/09/2026 18:32

BombasticBee · 28/09/2026 18:19

But you did though. How else can you explain your dismissive ' the odd asylum seeker will murder ' comment, in relation to Rhiannons death? Sit with that for a while.

I can’t explain a dismissive comment when I didn’t make one.

Two things can be held in my head at once the bigger picture and the individual case - I did a broad overview of humans being good/bad and generic comment that asylum seekers too will be the same. At the extremes some will save lives and fewer will murder.

In the specific case of Rhiannon Whyte I have consistently said it’s despicable.

The base could have gone onto a higher alert state for genuine int reasons...then just so happens our diesel stealers choose the wrong/time place to do a bit of thieving....

Probably unlikely but stranger things have happened.

I bet the diesel stealers mates are taking the absolute piss out of them.

She did but there was a high alert just before it happened.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 28/09/2026 18:34

I think this poor lady farmer is now a legitimate target for the British state eager to cover up to target her as someone unstable and a target for Islamists. In future, anyone who sees anything suspicious should keep quiet.

She did it after the high alert.

I have said over and over this murder is despicable. However that does not equal all asylum seekers are despicable.

It certainly does not mean - as this thread pushed it to - that only a specified type of British is acceptable in the U.K. because of this horrific action.

We can debate whether our NEETs should be at medical school but the fact is the NHS would collapse without migration.

This isn't true, you are not helping your cause, and your valid, legitimate, concerns by spreading misinformation. The scheme is open to the following:

  • Afghan women and girls, particularly those considered vulnerable or at risk.
  • Palestinian refugees, including people with particularly serious protection or medical needs (For example, this would include people who fought with the US/UK against terrorist groups and are therefore now targets.
  • Other vulnerable refugees, including people with disabilities and victims of torture (again victims of torture because of the risk they posed to terrorist groups who they were working against or those who rebelled against terrorist organisations for example).

People will be identified through organisations such as the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) rather than simply being able to apply because they are Afghan or Palestinian.

Your post is missing context and detail and that doesn't help you in bringing others who might disagree, towards your view on this.

Edited

This is potentially millions of people. There are 20 million Afghan women. Women can be terrorists too, as has been seen in Israel and India.

Moreover, through family reunion after asylum is granted, a person can bring in family members. Recently a Palestinian woman granted asylum in the UK was allowed to bring in 18 (yes 18) family members. How the lawyers who got that through must have laughed, they hit the jackpot on that one.

We can help people far better through our foreign aid budget. Bringing in thousands of people from places like Afghanistan and Palestine when our resources are already so stretched is a recipe for civil unrest.

Viviennemary · 28/09/2026 18:39

I couldn't believe it when they said the men were on bail. As if. Five maybe terrorists let out. No way. I think this. It was a mock up military exercise then a member of the public (the farmer) saw it and reported a suspicious event

If they were diesel thieves, I cannot believe that she will have anything to worry about.

It's quite possible to alert the emergency services about suspicious activity without giving interviews to every media channel under the sun.

I’m always annoyed at debating from a false starting point - for clear debate the facts should be just that facts.

It is a fact Rhiannon was murdered in a horrific manner - it is a fact an asylum seeker murdered her - it is not a fact that all asylum seekers are murderers.

Idk what you want me to say - I’ve told the thread several times this murder was abhorrent - that is my view. My view is also that this does not mean stop all asylum seekers.

You’re reminding me of right wing auditors I see at protests just trying to push a button for clicks - you’re not getting paid here though so what are you pushing for?

Ponoka7 · 28/09/2026 18:40

MsJinks · 28/09/2026 18:29

No one brings in brothers, cousins, uncles under family reunion visas - right now family reunion visas are suspended - when it was available it was restricted to spouse and children under 18 and relationship had to be evidenced.

Please stop with the misinformation and get your facts together and then be abhorrent if you insist.

I don’t know what to say about producing numerous babies for the welfare state except it’s a disgraceful way to speak about women in MN.

Go on the threads about cutting welfare and disability benefits for British citizens, including those with the right to remain etc and tell them they are abhorrent. Unless women have a career, stable housing and picked the father of their baby correctly, then they are slagged off to death and told they shouldn't be having babies and that's before we get to SAHMs. Why everywhere else in the world can people not opt for contraception and be brought over, housed and given money etc? We don't have enough resources. We brought in a punitive benefit system, which put British children in poverty and cut our family sizes. Children are suffering because of unstable housing. How is it fair to the lower waged people to bring people in and set them up?

I thought they used the name of an actual company in Sheffield but got the telephone number wrong. Maybe their logo was in red.

No the name and logo do differ.

Because they were racially profiled and assumed to be terrorists because they 'looked Middle Eastern'? I can see why that would be hilarious alright.

Same, I am totally terrified!
It is getting worse now they’ve announced today bringing people from two of the most dangerous countries on earth who detest us.
😟
They will bring their extended families and the rest under their human rights argument. Labour must go they aren’t looking after us they are doing the exact opposite to gain votes,
anyone sane would end the madness !

Who would you vote for

it always feels that people on here are very labour lovers 😂

and if you say anything else you get torn down

The issue is the system is lax about risk and someone often pays for that. It’s allowing entry without safeguarding here, but also chaos on the way for people trying.

Congratulations on managing to weave institutional systemic racism into this event.

How about their skin colour had nothing to do with it (especially as they were allegedly wearing balaclavas) and it had everything to do with parking three transit vans 300 metres from a major heavily protected airbase whereupon they decided to transfer the stolen fuel between the vehicles, all in the middle of the night.
