The amount of speculation, misinformation and conspiracy theories on this thread is genuinely terrifying. I swear if the internet had been around during the war, there would be have been people online expressing outrage that Bletchley Park weren't posting live updates while cracking the enigma code. This is a live counter terrorism investigation. The Prime Minister is chairing a COBRA meeting this afternoon, and presumably more public announcements will be made when the picture is clearer, or, if and when it is safe for the Counter Terrorism Police to do so.

It's surely unlikely that suspected terrorists would be released on police bail....guess more info to come.

Maybe I'm wildly speculating here, but based on the fact all 5 have been granted bail, I somehow doubt Trump's assertion that they were known to the USA (or to him).

That is the way many many posters, including some on this thread, have argued it should be done. They have questioned over and over why it is that the women and children don't come over first.

Well sadly some mumsnetters do seem pretty incapable of think about anything other than immigrants/ skin colour/ boats etc... They will bring their obsessions and conspiracy theories into any thread they can.

The five men who were arrested and subsequently released on bail are all British citizens, home secretary Shabana Mahmood has just told the Labour party conference.

It’s a chaotic system. No vetting which means risks here. Deaths due to crushes. I’m not surprised Labour is struggling to sell it in still.

I guess they have been bailed due to the fact that there is insufficient evidence to charge them with an offence.

Not at all otherwise you’d not be seeing similar in the EU. It’s domestic policy that changes it.

Try having a chat about that with Lianne White's mum who was stabbed to death by an asylum seeker who was at the hostel where she was working.
