What time do you like in till at weekends (if you’re not in work)?

So during the week I’m up by 0630. DH has asked if have any plans this weekend and I said is like a proper big lie in. He says I do this every week. I’m usually up by 0830. 9 is the very latest. I would truly love to stay asleep one day until 10am. Don’t have any children at home these days to require me being up early. I just can’t stay asleep but am still tired when I get up.
What’s the norm for people these days? I know it’s a ‘how long is a piece of string’ type question but I’m intrigued as to whether DH or me have the more common perception as to the ‘norm’.

I’m up at 06:00 every day except Sunday.

Sunday is 07:00.

I’d love a proper, cosy lie in - but I think I’m far too conditioned now.

NCTDN · Yesterday 20:20

I think that’s my issue tbh.

I usually wake up around 9 with no alarm. Luckily my kids all love a lie in and will sleep later than that if we don't have to be somewhere.

EllaPaella · Yesterday 20:22

I get up at 6.15 during the week for work (4 days in a row). Like you I always imagine myself having a lovely long lie in on the weekends but the latest I ever manage to stay asleep until is 8.30!
I get up, let the dog out for a wee and feed her and take a cuppa back to bed and browse my phone for an hour.

MerylSqueak · Yesterday 20:22

I might wake up but I like to laze around reading novels and drinking tea as long as I darn well please, which usually means until I get hungry around 12. Bloody love it.

Chasingsquirrels · Yesterday 20:22

Sometimes 7 to 8am, more usually 9 to 10am, occasionally midday.
Not sleeping but lazing, cuddling, reading, browsing, sex.

momtoboys · Yesterday 20:23

I am up at 5:30am weekdays. I lie in until 6:00am at the latest on the weekends. Any later and I feel I have wasted the day.

Thunderdcc · Yesterday 20:23

I can (and do) sleep straight through to 10am if nobody wakes me up.

Morepositivemum · Yesterday 20:25

I remember as a teen laying in until 10/11/12. I honestly think that’s what’s wrong with us all now, bouncing out of bed and exhausting ourselves by never stopping except to look at screens!!

TishToshByGosh · Yesterday 20:26

I don't really like getting up later than 8:30 but I do sometimes sleep till 9:30.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · Yesterday 20:27

About 10ish feels like a lovely lie in to me. I usually wake up about 6am for a wee then doze/snooze on and off for ages in the knowledge of no work, no alarm, no one waking me up (adult dc)

Now that I’m very jealous of!

Can I ask what time you usually go to bed, though?

Dr13Hadley · Yesterday 20:29

When I’m in the office I’m up at 5am. When I’m WFH up at 6.30am Saturdays up at 7am (2 x boys football matches) so on a Sunday I lie in until 8.30-9am.

FortyFacedFuckers · Yesterday 20:31

A long lie for me is around 8.30-9.00 my DH can easily sleep to 12 on the weekends

Loasalt · Yesterday 20:47

At weekends I take my dcs to activities so I usually have an alarm set for 6.30am.

During school holidays, they don't have activities and if we don't have plans I can easily lie in until 12. It's not difficult at all, I just lie there and don't get up.

Echobelly · Yesterday 20:50

I never used to be able to lie in at all, I was pretty much up at 7.15 every day unless I'd been out late, but even if I'd rolled home at 5am I would generally be awake by 9.

The kids are teens now and I generally wake up at the weekend between about 8 or 9. The longest I can sleep in on a normal night would be until about 9.45. My weekday alarm is 7am

This is me. Yes, I wake early due to habituation. But I may turn over and go back to sleep. If that doesn't work I'll make tea and read in bed for a good long time

This is me! I can sometimes sleep in until 7am on a weekend but am usually awake before that. 5.40am in the week.

6:30.

I am assuming you don’t have demanding pets?

Bjorkdidit · Yesterday 21:09

My sleep is all over the place but if I don't have a reason to get up, I'm very good at going back to bed 'to read' and then falling asleep for a couple more hours or more so perhaps you could try that?

I often need to get up to drink tea dur to thirst and I don't like drinking in bed so I'll get up, have some tea then go back to bed.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · Yesterday 21:10

If we're working, we're up by 0600. If not, whenever we feel like it. Tomorrow is the first day of DW's retirement, we're going to go for midday.

That's another reason why I get up, to feed the cats, who act like they're starving to death if breakfast doesn't appear by 6 am.

FairViewRosie25 · Yesterday 21:13

Normally till a dog starts vomiting or wants to go out. Lucky if I make it past 5am

Iliketulips · Yesterday 21:22

We've both retired early. Generally both get up 6.45-7.15am every day, but will get up earlier if we want to be somewhere. We've never slept in, as once one is awake and the other nearly there, we want to get up and make the most of our day.

Don't know what time you go to bed though. Dh on average 11pm. I'm mostly in bed by 10.15am as I love reading and just want to relax in bed until I can't read anymore.
