I still don’t understand why the so-called Putney Pusher has never been identified

As per my title, he looks so recognisable - if you know him I mean. Presumably his family are shielding him?
I’m aware of this weeks’ news very sad update regarding a suspect and the suspect’s family ruling him out.
So who is he?

He has been identified.

The family’s evidence is suspiciously lacking any actual evidence?

He sent an email from his Mayfair office at the exact time of the crime. - Provide the email / get the recipient to confirm?

He had a withered leg. - Supply a photo of the suspect showing said withered leg. Does one single photo of him in shorts, swim shorts etc. not exist?

He had a tattoo on his inner forearm. Provide proof he got the tattoo before May 2017 or prove the runner didn’t have a tattoo?

That’s why they’ve been utterly silent on his arrest for knocking a woman off her bike with his Harley Davidson and driving off, and his possession of class A drugs.

I don’t know how anyone here can say it was definitely the man who has just died, he hadn’t even been charged, let alone tried for the crime. I’m not saying it wasn’t him, I have no idea, but what happened until innocent until proven guilty? The police hadn’t yet gathered enough evidence to charge him.

From the visual evidence alone, I can’t tell if the recently deceased accused is the pusher. And the only additional information is that which is in the press - hardly the complete dossier. I agree @Snooks1971 it’s bizarre that it’s taken 8 years.

This is what I was clumsily trying to mean in my OP.
I meant that if the man in the footage was your partner, husband, brother, BIL, son, colleague.. you would recognise him surely?
And random men wouldn’t be accused?
I’m sure we could all look at the footage and know it wasn’t someone we know.

It looks remarkably like him in the photo below, but we can’t be 100% sure from the video/images, I guess.

The footage wasn't that clear and families are well known to cover up for wrong doing.

I was watching a true crime case, where a man killed his GF and his mum was caught on a hidden recording, saying it was the girlfriend's fault and she was nothing but trouble...all lies.

If I saw a video of my brother pushing a pedestrian into the road, I would be absolutely disgusted with him, but like fuck would I be reporting it to the police.

I suspect most families would be the same.

This is an upper class family with a long way to fall. Reputation is everything to them.

I'm not even saying they're consciously lying - they may well have convinced themselves it's not him, whether it is or not. Very common when a loved one commits a crime.

I don't know if it's him or not but the fact his family claim it isn't is meaningless.

They say dna will prove his innocence. I’m not sure what dna they have. They need to expedite the results so it can be resolved.

I agree. My OP was that nothing is categorically proved, despite a very clear image of a man running. Not the face I know. But the gait and the side profile.

I didn't think the photo looked like the suspect at all but in this thread someone says it's quite recognisable so I suppose if you have a bias you might not see it.

Don’t be ridiculous, of course I would report a murder. That’s completely different, but you know that.

I don't think the footage is that clear. He had a very standard look, there will be loads of men who look similar. This is probably why it remains unsolved. It definitely could be the suspect based on the footage, but it could also be someone who looks like him...

I hope you're never a victim of someone else's violent brother. Let's remember that most rapists and murderers and child abusers and wife beaters will also be someone's brother.

I don’t care - I would not be the one reporting a family member for a crime such as this. It’s interesting how you and OP both extrapolated that I would therefore not report a murder or a rape?? That’s quite the leap. I would never protect a murderer or a rapist, even if it were my own child.
