I still don’t understand why the so-called Putney Pusher has never been identified

As per my title, he looks so recognisable - if you know him I mean. Presumably his family are shielding him?
I’m aware of this weeks’ news very sad update regarding a suspect and the suspect’s family ruling him out.
So who is he?

I don’t think the suspect looks like the cctv. I also think it looks like an arrogant arsehole shoving someone but I couldn’t definitely agree it was deliberately into the path of the bus

Ahh I see your confusion.

It's different because the 'normal' or 'expected' outcome from pushing or punching someone is not death. In almost all cases a push or a punch would result in ABH or at most GBH. A death from a punch would be an unexpected consequence.

Of course, pushing someone into the path of a bus will almost certainly result in very serious injury and likely death. An average person could reasonably forsee/would expect someone run over by a bus to die. The law will therefore assume that the intent was to seriously injure or kill.

For example, if I shot you, even if the bullet missed and you were completely unharmed, I could be charged with attempted murder because any reasonable person knows that the likely outcome of shooting someone is that they will die. If I gave you a nasty paper cut and it got infected and you died, I wouldn't be charged with murder because it's not foreseeable to the reasonable person that a papercut would kill someone.

It just got me thinking about hypotheticals I guess. If you pushed someone into the road where there was a bend and you couldn't know if a vehicle was going to come round the corner what would that be classed as?

Or you pushed them hoping they would be run over but nothing came round the corner you'd have the murderous intention but no one would ever know whereas the person who didn't intend harm would be punished

Unless the actual pusher is a another man who is eventually found we'll never know for sure

In your first example, the bend in the road, it would still be attempted murder (or maybe GBH) because we all know that roads are for cars and that people who are hit by cars frequently die. I suppose if it was a very quiet, ten mile and hour road it may be different. But the bend defence wouldn't fly.

If the second example, you've pushed someone into the road, but they weren't injured...you could still be charged with attempted murder because again any reasonable person knows that pushing someone into the road is likely to lead to their death (again it probably depends on the road in question).

There is no person who 'didn't intend harm' you don't intentionally push someone into the road without intending harm. That just doesn't happen. It doesn't exist. Unless you had diminished mental capacity perhaps, but that's a different scenario.

We don't need to catch the Putney Pusher to know his intent, it's evident from the video. He pushed a woman into oncoming traffic on an extremely busy road. She wasn't in his way, it wasn't an accident. It was a deliberate act. Unless he had diminished mental capacity then he knew that action would cause harm. Just like you do. Just like I do. Just like any reasonable person does. And that's what the law is based on, the reasonable man.

But in this case whoever did it is a murderer. Because it being attempted is a technicality where the bus driver ‘interfered’ with his intention in a way that seems impossible so she would have died. And it wasnt exactly an accident when he crossed to push her. So seems murderous/psychopathic.
if i knew the person who did this obviously would report (however its putting that person in a lot of danger as you can see the police don't act or act quickly
, but also who would want a brother around their kids who behaves like this (to women) if the ‘killer’ can do this to stranger for no reason then i can see them flinching over harming a neice/nephew if they annoyed him or stealing etc.
