Today is the 25th anniversary of 9/11 do you remember what you were doing when you saw the news?

I remember every single bit of that day like it was yesterday. I had only visited the WTC 3 months earlier too. Thinking about the families and survivors and emergency workers today.

The only on call armed aircraft, as.I recall it Langley's F-15s got into the area after all the hijacked aircraft were down.

I was a student at Uni, I had lectures in the morning and was working on my computer on an essay with the news on in the background, there was a newsflash showing the first plane in the tower and was watching live when the second plane hit the second tower!

It was absolutely awful especially as news filtered through of the plane hitting the Pentagon and the other flight being hijacked!

I knew the world would change forever!

We were sightseeing in Rome at the Vatican. An australian guy ran up to us and told us that a plane had crashed into the Tower of London. We ignored him since it was obviously nonsense and carried on with the day. So we didn't know anything until we got back to the B&B and found everyone watching the news on TV.

Heard it at work I was on reception. Just remember watching it all unfold on the news. It was like watching an action movie absolutely terrifying ! My thoughts

Worked in community health
someone at the clinic told us what was happening and I remember going to a patients house and us both watching the towers fall absolutely horrified .

My colleagues daughter worked on the stock exchange. She rang her Mum to tell her she'd heard something had happened with the World Trade Center. I rang my Mum who put the news on and relayed the info to us, not sure but don't remember us having mobiles then . I went on my lunch break (went to new boyfroends house everyday on my lunch) and we sat there is disbelief crying whilst watching people jumping from the North Tower. 25 years later and we are still together and were talking about it driving back from holiday today.

ex and I watched it on the news at home, we were both off work that day, and on our way back from Chester we heard that a plane had crashed into one of the towers, we got home shortly after put our tv on and saw the other plane go into the other tower

I remember phoning my dad (who was a bit annoyed at me telling him to put his telly on as he hated the telly during the day and grumbling a fair bit) who as soon as he put the news on went utterly quiet and then uttered oh my god, oh my god. And then hung up.

My first year of uni and in a midwestern city (so an hour behind NY). My roommate's brother called us that morning to turn on the news. I felt like we had just grown up moving away and then we grew up more.

I was teaching my Year 11 class. It was afternoon and we had the radio on - it was a channel that usually only had music and news at the top of every hour. It came through as a newsflash. We spent the rest of the lesson discussing it.

I was in college.

I think there were murmurs in the halls about plane one crashing but then all hell broke loose when the 2nd tower was hit.

We were in Media Studies so the teacher wheeled the TVs in and we just sat there watching. I remember repeatedly thinking Inwas watching a film and kept having to remind my brain that it was reality.

One of my friends (in another class) was in absolute hysterics as her parents were in NYC and had mentioned in a phone call the evening prior about going to the viewing deck of the towers but it was very early that it happened so thankfully they weren't there at the time of the attacks.

We had a break between classes shortly after and DH and I decided to just go home because it literally felt like the world was ending and we just wanted to be somewhere safe. We went to his house and just continued to watch the TV in absolute shock.

I was in my early twenties, working (on my own, teeny office in a back room). An adult pupil I was meant to be teaching later that day rang me in tears, told me that she was far too upset to have her lesson and to turn on the TV. Tbh I thought she was being unnecessarily dramatic until I realised what had happened. The horror of it all and the desperation of those poor people jumping is etched in my memory.

I was at work in my first job and we watched it on my computer on a news channel on the internet. I can remember how it made me feel and reading the stories today takes me back. My feelings are absolutely nothing compared to all of those thousands of people whose lives were changed forever.

On a lighter note I was talking about it today with my team, where were you on 9/11. Two weren't born yet and the other was 2 years old. So that conversation came to an abrupt halt!

I was in the car on my way home from work (going to an ante-natal appointment) when I heard the news on the radio that a ‘small plane’ had crashed into the twin towers. I put the TV on when I got home and the dreadful tragedy unrolled from there. Just unbelievably awful.

I’ve been watching some programs about it tonight so feeling quite upset.

I was 13 at the time, I got home from school and saw it on the TV.
I have been feeling sad all day today, watching footage and reading stories. I normally don't think about it too much, it's affecting me a lot today
It's so sad. I'll remember it forever.

I was at school, before dismissal the teacher told us that a plane had hit a tower in America, we all dismissed it as a random piece of news and didnt realise what had happened until the evening news

I was only 2, so no. But my mum always talks about being sat with me playing on the rug, breastfeeding my younger brother, when my half brother called her to say that something awful had happened in America and she needed to turn the telly on.

She sat watching it, breastfeeding my brother (just over 1), and watching me play (2 and 4 months) and describes knowing the world had changed forever. I cannot imagine how that must have felt.

I was on work experience, in Mothercare. I remember towards the end of the day there was this slightly tense atmosphere, like the adult staff were not telling me something,, whispering amongst themselves. But I sort of assumed it was just something to do with their jobs and none of my business. When I finished at 4, I went into the shop next door to say hi to a girl from school who was doing her work experience there. It was a Curry's, so my overriding memory is of seeing this horror playing out silently on hundreds of TVs at the same time. I think someone there had found out the basics so my school friend filled me in. And then I caught the bus home and people were talking about nothing else on the bus.

My relative was diagnosed with cancer that day so I was more focussed on that at the time. I remember seeing the stuff about the world trade centre on the news and wondering if there was going to be another world war.

I was in primary school and vividly remember the TV being wheeled in and watching the news broadcast with visibly upset teachers. It seems crazy upon reflection that we were shown this footage aged 6 at school but of course it was unprecedented really.

I was cabin crew on a UK short haul airline. I was in the crew room at Birmingham airport and saw the first aircraft hit on tv.

Originally it was though it was a small aircraft and I remember asking a pilot how it was possible and he was just explaining hope it could happen if there was fog or something and then the second aircraft struck and the room just went silent. I’ll never forget it.

You won’t have seen the first plane hit, there’s only one piece of known footage that was captured by a documentary maker. You would have seen the aftermath and yes the second plane was shown live on tv, but not the first.

I have just switched on the TV and was surprised not to see a program about 9/11 !

I don’t rember exactly. Apologies. I should have said I saw the televised footage of the aftermath of the first plane hitting and we were discussing how it could have happened and then the second plane hit while we were watching.
