Good morning from the 6am train to London Kings Cross! Today's move dd1 back into her uni accommodation in Wembley day 😥. We've managed to pack better this time & only have the five suitcases of various sizes, a few odds and ends scattered between handbags, and a tote for her setlist folder.

Plan when we get there is make her bed then head for breakfast 😋 and a small Tesco shop to get her going. She's back in the week to work Leger week, so won't need a lot for the time being.

We're on the 4pm train home. I've set some washing to be done by the time we get back so I'll hang that and set a load for tomorrow, dd2 will wash up & we'll finish last night's takeaway. Then it's pj's on & collapse in a heap ready for bed 💤.

What about you lot? 🙂

All done, so back home today early as l have lots to do before my daughter goes back to school on Monday.

AtlasPine · 05/09/2026 06:38

Good morning! I have just made coffee, fed the dog and jumped back into bed. I’ll do a long dog walk later morning with a picnic lunch and a flask as DH is out at a sporting event all day. I’ve downloaded ‘John of John’ by Douglas Stuart who wrote the wonderful ‘Shuggie Bain’ and I’m really looking forward to listening to the first few hours while I’m walking.

Then pick some veg from the garden and cook supper for us both.

Hope the Wembley visit goes well.

HappyLennie · 05/09/2026 06:39

Morning, relaxing in coastal Spain for a month, walking, swimming and exploring at a leisurely pace with my husband- just having a fruit tea ( made by my husband, and will get up soon. My daughter and family arrive later this week, can

TheBlueArsedFly · 05/09/2026 06:43

I'm awake early which is annoying as I would really like more sleep. Lots of sorting today and ironing of school uniform for Monday. I have a pair of pe shorts missing to hunt down too. Food shop, post office, eBay listing and an application to get a license reviewed is also on the cards. Off to a festival tomorrow though to see Johnny Flynn.

Seaswim21 · 05/09/2026 06:45

2nd year uni move in for us too. 7 hour round trip with a car full!

GrottBaggs · 05/09/2026 06:46

Morning all, just about to take the dog out then working til 2pm. Live in Spain and we are in a heatwave with high humidity again so will jump in the pool after work then potter around doing housework. Working again tomorrow so itll be an early night for me.

Iocanepowder · 05/09/2026 06:50

Morning! Didn’t sleep (2 year old in my bed) so first task of the day is much coffee.

Taking 2 year old to her little hobby and then a playdate this afternoon.

greengreengrass3 · 05/09/2026 06:53

I’ve just been woken up by DH looking for painkillers, seems he’s got tonsillitis.
Todays jobs consist of sending off documents for passport application, getting my toenail fixed that I kicked up yesterday and broke off and visiting my parents so a fairly chill day.

DH was supposed to be starting a big planter build in the garden but I’ll see how he feels when he wakes back up again.

Have a great day everyone

rivalsbinge · 05/09/2026 06:55

We have a uni day today as well, luckily DS is 40 minutes away so I feel he’s fairly close to home, just hoping he gets a lovely group in his halls and settles in well. He’s a pretty independent guy. Im alos on my first coffee of the day, I had a great sleep but woke up at 6am and deceive to start the day.

farmlass · 05/09/2026 06:56

Morning !
Awake early despite being at a party last night .
A sea swim shortly (Just started doing this earlier this year)
Meeting a friend for lunch and then doing some chores for the elderly parents .

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 05/09/2026 06:58

Good morning ing!

I am lying in bed in a hotel, overlooking a county cricket ground (they gave us a pitch side view as we have children with us) contemplating getting up and having a shower. Have a friend joining us for coffee while we have breakfast and then, later this morning, we’re off on a cruise for a week down the Iberian Peninsula.

What I should be doing is labelling school uniforms and PE kits ready for school on Monday but I’ll be doing that when we get back next weekend!

Mydogisagentleman · 05/09/2026 07:02

Woke at 05.00 after having the worst airport experience. 1000's of people queuing for 2 hours to get back into the terminal.
I'd had a fantastic 4 days at our place in Spain. Collected y residency papers and signed up for a new house rental, then got back to Stansted.
Drove home then walked to my parents and Collected my dog.
Off to work until 14.30, then tesco and an early night/siesta combination.
Things can only get better

JingsMahBucket · 05/09/2026 07:04

Morning all! Good luck to all the parents and kids dealing with university drop offs and move ins today. 🙂

I woke up naturally around 5:40am, got up to use the bathroom and brush my teeth but I’m back in bed. Eventually I’ll get up around 7:30 to shower and start my day. I have a catch up Zoom call with a friend in Belgium this morning then I’ll head out to do the grocery shopping on foot. Back home for lunch, some cleaning, and then a call with a different friend where we sit and plan out the next week. It’s like professional accountability.

Dinner tonight will be a roasting chicken that I picked up from M & S last night for my birthday. My birthday was yesterday but I was absolutely shattered and just had an M & S pizza for dinner and fell asleep on the couch. Exciting times! 😂

Have a lovely day everyone!

UnaGatita · 05/09/2026 07:05

Good morning. I’m about to help my dad pack his belongings and I’m taking him to a nursing home. He’s become less mobile in recent years, has had a number of falls and is finding it increasingly difficult to look after himself.

It’s a lovely place we know really well, he has friends there already and he’s had respite care there twice - really enjoying the company of others, the food and the care. It does mark the end of an era though and I have mixed feelings about the next chapter of both our lives.

ShiftySquirrel · 05/09/2026 07:07

Morning! I'm taxiing teens about. One DD has a friend coming over and other DD is meeting her boyfriend.
So ferrying teens to town, catching up on a few bits for work. And mountains of washing in between.
Next weekend we're on a uni open day 3hrs away, so I feel like I want to be ahead of the game!

Veraandacupoftea · 05/09/2026 07:12

Morning! Still in bed atm !

this morning agenda. Weigh myself and get dressed. Put the kettle on . Put washer on . Make 5 booktok videos (sales have been rubbish this week, but I have made over £1000 pounds now since June and had to register for tax so I’m going to keep at it)

im hoping for a nice day out tomorrow so need to get ontop of jobs today - as back to school and work next week !

two weeks until dd goes to uni

FamingolosForDays · 05/09/2026 07:28

Morning all- I have been slacking and have missed these for a while!

DS got into bed with me at some ungodly time in the early morning so I have been dozing since then. Finally gave up at 6:45 but we both have the lurgy so im currently shivering in bed. DD was asleep in bed by 7:45 last night so I suspect she is under the weather too.
@
I need to go outside and start collecting apples, we've not had a great year for them, they have all rotted so quickly. If I can get it done quickly I will drop off the good ones to the community fridge.

Today will largely be spent indoors watching films, cooking apples/treats. DS has requested my DUncle drops his little dog round overnight so we shall have lots of cuddles with her. There is a community event in the park next door where I hope to get some yummy Sri Lankan food from. DCs will probably have pizza unless I can convince them to try otherwise!

Tomorrow we are supposed to be meeting friends at heritage day, DD is cooking spanish chicken. I will need to prep for work next week although if I am ill I may not be able to visit site so we shall have to see.

Have a lovely weekend all

thebeautifulsky · 05/09/2026 08:13

Good morning all, a very early start here. It is recycling collection today so I dropped the bags off at the bottom of the lane (trucks won’t come up to our house) then had my usual walk up and down the hills. I’m sat with a coffee now and trying to decide what to do today. DH is busy doing something with his car so I may nip to the coast for another walk and coffee. Soup season has started again so I’ll batch cook some Cawl later on. I have a request for school cake from eldest DGC so I’d better do that too before they come over tomorrow. A chilled day really. We’ll have a nice dinner tonight and settle down to some Netflix.

troppibambini6 · 05/09/2026 08:14

Good morning @lucysmamand everyone else.
Im the only one up apart from the dogs that are snoozing on the sofa. I’ve had my first coffee and I’m enjoying the silence (apart form dog snores).
First weekend of the football and netball season in the Troppi house so we have five matches this weekend.
Only one today though so we will be heading over with youngest ds at 12. Might have a mooch into town but am going to play it by ear as the kids are all knackered from starting school.
Eldest dd got in at 2.30 after working so she will be shattered too.
Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Simonjt · 05/09/2026 08:15

Good morning all, we’ve all been for a run this morning, well our youngest went for more of a bounce in the running buggy.

Hockey season starts today so we’ll drop the oldest off later and take the littley to softplay for an hour or so to tire her out.

No plans this evening, we have heard Adults is very good so we’ll watch an episode tonight. Have a nice saturday

Girasoli · 05/09/2026 08:24

DH and DS1 have a full day of football today - training in the morning and going to watch a match in the afternoon.

I had planned to take DS2 to the park or to potter about town but I have a very heavy cold. I'll see how I feel after a shower and maybe some lemsip. Otherwise I will potter about and do housework and DS2 can play with his toys, we might just go in the garden instead for fresh air!

MrsClattenburg · 05/09/2026 09:31

Morning all 👋

I've been up since 7.30 which is frustrating as I was out last night and thought all the prosecco would mean a nice lie-in this morning...

I started with a weigh in and am 3lbs down from last Saturday which I'm very pleased with 😊 yes, it will be water weight but I'll take that! I just needed to get back on track after a week away last week.

DS has gone to work and I'm on my third cuppa before going for a 5k walk with DH (when he gets up) and a tip run - joy!

Then I'm out again at 6pm with my Uni friends which is always such good fun, we've been friends for 30+ years and are still as daft and crude as we were when we met in 1994!

Crunchymum · 05/09/2026 09:37

Hope it all goes well lucysmam and everyone else moving their children to (or back to) uni.

We have swimming lessons / training this morning which takes us to lunchtime and then we are off to a party later this afternoon - DN has just turned 18 and had kindly invited his not so cool aunt and much younger cousins.

Won't be a late one as we'll head off before the real fun gets started but it's a good excuse to catch up with the family and there will be a BBQ.

Tiddlywinks63 · 05/09/2026 09:42

Good morning everyone, a lovely bright autumnal morning here and a friend and I are about to head out to a garden centre some 20 miles from here. I’ve never been to this one so I am looking forward to seeing what I can buy! It’s inevitable that I won’t come home empty handed!
We’ll definitely have a coffee and possibly lunch too, a real treat.
I’ve had scrambled egg on toast, a big mug of tea and I’ve made the bed. The kitchen is tidy and the dogs have been walked so the day is mine 😁
DH will sort himself out for dinner, goodness knows what he’ll have but there’s plenty in the fridge and larder.
Have a lovely day!

DilemmaDelilah · 05/09/2026 09:42

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I was awake around 5 and got up just after 6 as I had some crafting ideas going around in my head and I couldn't wait to get started! It's much more exciting than seeing on name tags, which is what I was doing last weekend.

We were given lots of fresh(ish) fruit and veg yesterday so I made some more ratatouille with some of that and some tomatoes out of our garden. We ate some of the strawberries last night, and I am going to compote the less nice ones today, as well as stewing the rather overripe plums. I have just made myself breakfast of a roll with low fat cheese, low fat high protein cream cheese and a little of the celery we were given yesterday. I had some of the ratatouille last night, and Mr Dilemma had some cavolo nero we were given, with some little potatoes we grew ourselves and some chicken. I really like being able to eat food we have grown ourselves, and to be able to use produce which would otherwise have gone to waste.

I have a wash on which should be finished very soon, and then that will need drying.

I have already tried to contact Royal Mail, for the third time this week, about the random emails I have been getting informing people who are NOT me that their parcels are on the way/have been delivered. When I get a message saying my call should be answered in about 40 minutes I give up!

I also need to ring my hairdresser as I neglected to put my next appointment in my diary and I am worried it is this week!

Other than that... lots more crafting. Some more Vinting. That's about it I think.

We're having burgers in buns with salad this evening. Morrison's quarter pounders which are, to me, the nicest I have found. I did my back in standing to cook yesterday - I should have stopped when it started to get uncomfortable - so I'm not doing any proper cooking. I will prepare the plums and strawberries for cooking sitting down, and then Mr Dilemma can put them on the hob and look after them.

Have a lovely day everybody, or at least the best one possible.
