Lifes little pleasures?

My body is behaving today so I am having a small chips and sweet chilli sauce from McDonald's in the car whilst it's raining with my DD.
What are yours?

Walking around my local common, seeing nature. And most dogs I meet are lovely, even though I don't give them treats.

shellyleppard · 02/09/2026 11:53

watching wild birds in my garden

I work in the office one day a week and look forward every week to going and getting a caramel latte from the cafe opposite before I start work.

dudsville · 02/09/2026 12:11

@LlynTegid , I love meeting random dogs!

My "life's little pleasures" today is unexpectedly having the day home alone with no plans. I've had a wonderful breakfast, did a few small chores, now I'm about to do some exercises and then sit on the sofa quietly with a book. Ahhhhh.

My little pleasure today has been the gorgeous smell of home baking - a bacon & mushroom quiche & Bakewell tart made with home grown raspberries in the jam. All for my DPs & DMiL who are here tonight.
Closely followed by the chef’s perk of a mini-blueberry friande & a cuppa.

Lovely thread @MyGallbladderIsAFucker thanks for starting it. I hope you enjoyed every single chip!

I sometimes think that the simplest of things are life’s little pleasures. I made myself a cucumber sandwich and a cup of tea yesterday for lunch and I sat in the garden to eat it and I felt very happy.

InNewYorkNoShoes · 02/09/2026 12:32

A perfect cuppa when you are really thirsty.

MajorSamanthaCarter · 02/09/2026 12:35

Sitting down in a lovely clean and tidy house with a cup of Earl Grey and a book, bonus pleasure points if my cat joins me.

Currently eating a chicken, stuffing & cranberry sauce sandwich leftover from last nights roast! Heaven!!

I always arrive first in the office. I have a little routine of setting up the coffee machine and getting my first cappuccino of the day. Whilst that’s going I check the plants and water if needed. I drink my coffee in my chair with my feet on the windowsill and watch people arrive in the car park as my computer does its start-up conniptions. It’s strangely calming

Twogingercats · 02/09/2026 13:10

Feeding the birds. I have a packet of birdseed in my bag in case I meet any bird friends.

Lomonald · 02/09/2026 13:13

Im on my way to the supermarket to pick up boring bits, but i am going to get jam donuts !

AgnesMcDoo · 02/09/2026 13:14

I love a ciggy. Especially on holiday if my kids aren’t there. Wouldn’t have one in front of them or when they can smell it after, I quit 7 years ago when I was pregnant with DD. However if the opportunity arises to have a holiday cig I’m gonna take it.

Also a less chavy one, I love feeding the crows in the park! They’re so clever.

I miss smoking i know it is horrible unhealthy etc etc, but a holiday cigarette sounds amazing

Love this thread. Putting my moisturiser on my face in the morning. I usually close my eyes and really focus on the feeling - sounds a bit weird to say it - but it’s a simple moment of self care when I briefly feel totally relaxed.
Oh and feeling the sunshine on my face when I’m showering - not a guarantee every time of course but even having a window in a bathroom in London can feel like a treat!

Cotopaxi · 02/09/2026 13:40

Resting the side of my head on a cat and listening to it purring.

Ted27 · 02/09/2026 13:43

I'm going to see my son in Worcester where there happens to be an old fashioned sweetie shop where I fully intend to buy some coconut mushrooms and maybe some cherry lips

momager22 · 02/09/2026 13:45

Toasted white bread or bagel with salted butter. There’s nothing like it !

SaraHoliday · 02/09/2026 13:45

Fresh cold air first thing in the morning!

ShiftySquirrel · 02/09/2026 13:45

Sitting in my conservatory. Inside it's 30 degrees, quiet and cloudy so it's like being wrapped in a blanket.

MindBodySoul · 02/09/2026 13:58

Drinking a cup of tea in my favourite jumper ❤️

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 02/09/2026 14:01

Yesterday, I pruned the rose bush in my allotment and then when the child was in bed I watched The Professionals and knitted. Perfect joy.

LondonLass2026 · 02/09/2026 14:06

-Walking my dogs in woodland and seeing absolutely no one else. I'm not unfriendly and will always stop and chat - I just value my alone/thinking time.

-Face masks. Especially the ones which bubble up.

-Absolutely anything from the Pink Lane Bakery, especially the strawberry and pistachio cake.

-When my extremely noisy neighbour steps outside and starts her car, as she doesn't work and barely leaves the house. Never out for long but even the 10 mins peace I get is so valued. I get so excited when I hear her front door close.

Spending time with my elderly parents. They are amazing. Also drinking tea and eating shortbread. 😋
