Its the last day of summer today. Are you glad, sad or indifferent?
I love all the seasons so I'm quite happy.

Thrilled. Looking forward to decorating for autumn tomorrow and the kids go back to school Wednesday. The sun and heat can bugger off for the next 7 months as far as I’m concerned.

incognito1991 · 31/08/2026 19:24

I’m so happy, this summer has been dreadfully long and hot, it’s really been too much, I can’t wait for cooler weather, warm coats and rainy days

MathsTeacherandLoveit · 31/08/2026 19:25

I feel sick....

I will love it when I get going again I'm sure 🤞🏼

socks1107 · 31/08/2026 19:27

Looking fwd to it tbh. This has been an incredible summer but am looking forward to the change in season now and I love autumn.
that being said we’re having our usual September holiday in two weeks so summer will hopefully still be in our destination

TheChosenTwo · 31/08/2026 19:28

I thought it was summer until something like 21st September?!
Anyway I do like all the seasons in their own ways at the appropriate times. I love the heat so have thoroughly enjoyed the warmer weather. I like autumn too but I’m not there yet!

ProfessorofDarkArts · 31/08/2026 19:32

I like the changing seasons but I wish they were more like you expect them to be and social media says they will be! Autumn is usually more wet and muggy than bright and crisp and come to think of it Winter is much the same. Kicking through crunchy leaves and enjoying pretty frosty mornings don’t happen often in reality.

ProfessorofDarkArts · 31/08/2026 19:34

I’d also enjoy each season more if wasn’t pushed on to us months in advance by the shops and - again - social media. I don’t want pumpkin spiced everything in July and or to start thinking about Xmas in bloody September 🙄

mondaytosunday · 31/08/2026 19:39

Thrilled.

SlugJam · 31/08/2026 19:40

It’s summer until the 21st September 🤷🏻‍♀️

Doggymummar · 31/08/2026 19:44

It's summer for me until the clocks change

Shinyandnew1 · 31/08/2026 19:45

As a teacher of 28 years who has finally escaped the profession, this is the happiest I have ever felt on August 31st!

It is! Three more weeks of summer yet.

6ate9 · 31/08/2026 19:57

I prefer the cooler weather.

“It’s toward the end of summer
There’s a change now in the air
It’s really quite subtle, however
The weather is still rather fair.”

Gettingbysomehow · 31/08/2026 21:47

Its the end of meterological summer. Astronomical summer is over at the end of September. But its good enough for me.

getting children dressed in shorts, t shirts and crocs is infinitely easier than socks, trousers, t shirts, jumpers, coats, hats, gloves…

TheFormerMrsTruelove · 31/08/2026 21:49

Relief. I can sleep again and not have heat stroke just from being indoors.

rolipoli · 31/08/2026 21:52

Really good. This has been the happiest summer of my life, and now it’s autumn my favourite season.

RedRosesParmaViolets · 31/08/2026 21:54

Very happy and worried how i will cope with next summer ,just keep trying to loose weight and think about next year's strategies.

scalt · 31/08/2026 21:54

I’ve spent the summer hiding all the threads moaning about summer. Now it seems I have to do the same for the threads moaning about autumn (which does not begin until 21st September).

And wasn’t there talk of the seventh or eighth heatwave still to come? (I say there were only one or two heatwaves this summer - not six or ten or however many were reported; they just kept moving the goalposts to make it all more alarmist, so they could say we had multiple heatwaves, the planet is burning, quick, get the celebs to the climate change conferences in their private jets).

Perpetuallywondering · 31/08/2026 21:58

I quote Joni Mitchell: I’d like to call back summer time and have her stay for just another month or two…

I’m not wild about autumn and I loathe winter. And I hate term time 😭 Such a treadmill.

DanceMumTaxi · 31/08/2026 22:02

Rubbish, I really hate winter. Dark early, difficult driving conditions, cold, rain. I’m definitely a summer person. I’d go and live in a hot country where there was never ice or snow if I could.

Ah brilliant!! This is nice to hear. Tell us about it!

PermanentlyExhaustedPigeonZZZ · 31/08/2026 22:10

Super sad. My SEN girls really struggle with school. We get about 2 weeks of genuine relaxation in the middle of the summer hols then the stress starts up again. The other school hols are just too short to give them a break.
