@Bargarran out of curiosity are you cheaper for two drinks in other UK airports? That price sounds similar to what you would pay airbound for say a couple of spirits with mixers or a couple of large wines. If you were twenty for two pints the that is above the norm

I was at Mamma Mia on Saturday with my 2 granddaughters. I bought them a small bottle of water each in the theatre shop… £7 😳

Maybe I’m just out of touch as I don’t go out very often but I thought that was a rip off. They were checking bags on the way in and taking in your own drinks wasn’t allowed.

DP and I were just talking about this! Why are we expected to tip when it bar staff pouring drinks? No table service, nothing elaborate or difficult it’s ridiculous and very American. I never tip in those circumstances

Everything is so expensive now. Tipping seems to be changing too, it used to be you left a tip for a meal in a restaurant or for absolutely brilliant service. Now your expected to tip baristas and bar tenders etc. Or you get whacked with a service charge and need to ask if you want it removed (which most people are too embarrassed to do). It's getting out of hand , there's a decent minimum wage in the UK.

I support various charities of my choice through monthly direct debits, playing their lotteries and donating items and my time.

Shops and cafes trying to get me to donate to their choice (with a silent implication that you are mean if you decline) really gets on my tits.

I would lay odds that proportionally I do far more for charity than they ever do.

We need a new Consumer Act. Whilst this would be well down the list of things I would include in one, I do think that there need to be some restrictions on charging at airports and some other places where you are captive. Or at the very least all prices and policies advertised for viewing on the website before you arrive there.

Absolutely boils my piss, this. Especially in places like Tesco - you know that place has price-gouged every supplier, no matter how small, gives zero fucks about its customers, artificially inflates non-clubcard prices in order to force people to give up their personal data, and has made bank through unethical profiteering during covid and the COL crisis.

And then they have the gaul to give you a sad face charity picture on the fkn self-service checkout, asking you to donate, which you have to actively refuse! No, Tesco, I don’t want to ‘round up’ so you can act like some great corporate benefactor, bestowing gifts hither and thither using my money. Why not donate from the astronomical profits you’ve rinsed from your customers and suppliers, you thieving twats?!
