Do you wash your mop?

I have started to wonder if ppl wash the mop heads after use? I lent my neighbour our mop and was actually embarrassed when I handed it over - it looked far greyer than I realised. I can be quite anxious and now sat wondering if ppl actually rinse it out or even wash mop heads? Or change them after each use? I try to use my ones more than 3 times, even if they look a little grey as I don't like waste, but am I being a filthy ho-bag? Will the neighbour call me slovenly? (Lighthearted).

Depends on what it mops i have a sen child who misses the toilet and three cats safe to say my big mop gets soaked in cold bleach or disinfectant regularly but I have started to use my little mop (washable heads) for cleaning those kinds of messes for the most part and the big mop for dirt

Yes i wash my mops! i do have four though five if you count my steam....actually I think i have two steam mops?

Depends what kind of mop head, but I try to rinse ours out after use, and then throw it in the washing machine every three uses or so. I also use a Swiffer with reusable pads, and they only really do one room before I have to throw in the wash (although I am slattern who doesn't clean floors nearly as much as most people would think necessary)

A regular mop grosses me out, I use a steam mop that has a cloth on the bottom and the cloth goes in the wash after every use.

I don't think I can put those into a machine? May be wrong as I am bottom of the class at mop school

I just leave mine in a bucket of water and bleach overnight after it’s been used. How else do you clean mops? 🤔

@Mrscharlieeeee Honestly I never even thought about it, just binned when it looked like it was making the floor dirtier than it was before (maybe not quite that bad). I kind of assumed the floor cleaner also cleaned the mop and never thought about doing more to it each time?

See, imagining a bucket of bleach overnight is making me feel itchy about what I would then use the bucket of bleach for.
I do not like waste as I said, so I guess you could then chuck it in the loo and leave for a clean loo to "double dip" if you'll excuse the pun?

I use E-cloth mops. Have several replacement mop heads. They get chucked in the wash after use. Last for donkeys years.

I have the sort that clamps a cloth pad, so that goes in the washing machine after use.

I have a vileda mop head. Nothing special, usual blue moppy stuff. My cleaner suggested I pop it in the washing machine every so often…..oops. I didn’t know I should have been doing that.

In the kitchen sink? I only have bathroom or kitchen sinks and tip the dirty water into the outside drain. I avoid using the sink because of the dirt?

I may have over-complicated this.

I have turbo spin mop head and wash on hot with dishcloths weekly.

Yes. I do a hot water and bio soap powder soak in the mop bucket, with a dash of disinfectant. Then machine wash. However, then I take that as a cue to run a tub clean (setting on my machine).

It sounds like a lot are bunging into the washing machine.

But (at the risk of sounding like a pouty child) I really LIKE spinning it with the pedal thingy. It makes it almost fun doing the mopping and seeing the spray coming out in the salad-spinner bit.

On it's own on the 15min? Presumably not with anything else as I imagine some fibres come off?
I can wash my microfibre cloths with it so I don't waste water.

It says on the website the Vileda Turbo mop head can be washed up to 300 times and to not use fabric softener as it reduces the absorption.

Both my mops have microfibre pads that just tear off and get thrown in in washing machine, I do a 40°c wash with antibacterial detergent and a splash of white vinegar when they start to look a bit dirty.
