Do you wash your mop?

I have started to wonder if ppl wash the mop heads after use? I lent my neighbour our mop and was actually embarrassed when I handed it over - it looked far greyer than I realised. I can be quite anxious and now sat wondering if ppl actually rinse it out or even wash mop heads? Or change them after each use? I try to use my ones more than 3 times, even if they look a little grey as I don't like waste, but am I being a filthy ho-bag? Will the neighbour call me slovenly? (Lighthearted).

Yes I do, every few weeks. I put it in with the microfibre cloths, which get cleaned after each use except for the one for the kitchen worktops which I change every 3/4 days. (I live on my own, the washing was more frequent when the house was busy and therefore dirtier.)

Life is too short to even think about washing a mop, let alone do it!
Every few years I buy a new one 😂

I have a washable mop head from Lakeland, I bought the pole and the first mop-head about 15 years ago and I have needed only one replacement head so they last well. I do wash it in a net bag though, to stop it getting tangled and tugged about.

For quick mop ups I have a Vileda stick spray flat mop thingy and those cloths also go in the machine.

I don't think I can face more than one mop, but kudos to those with multiples for different scenarios.

I have learned something new today and will hopefully be slightly less embarrassed in the unlikely event my mop is required by a neighbour again.

Mine have detachable heads, wash in the machine after every use, dry and then they are ready to use again

If you dont wash them @SmallDFartyCarNRG you are just putting the dirt back and pushing it around 😷

I've got a Vileda Turbo and I just sling the mop head in the washing machine.

We have a bucket at the back door, used mop heads are put in there with a solution of bleach and water until I have a few then they’re washed. We only use them once or twice. I have the vileda mop heads and they’re fine to wash.

I rinse my mop under a tap after use - but our house gets quite messy so it’s probably dirtier than yours.

I used to put my mop heads in the washing machine. Then I purchased eufy which washes and dries it's own mops and occasionally me to attach new ones.

Soak it in really hot water and some detergent then give it a good squeeze and put it upside down to dry . I hadn't thought about putting in the washing machine .
I have a steamer too with white towelling caps that get washed .
But the steamer head doesn't fit everywhere so the mop to clean then the steamer to sanitise. Because cats .

I always wash floors on my hands and knees with a cloth that then goes in the washing machine. I hate mops !

I throw the pad in the washing machine after using it.

I use a squirt of bleach in the mop water as well as detergent (as I was taught as a hospital cleaner 30 years ago!) so the head is disinfected every time I use it.

After each use I unscrew it, rinse it under a spray-head tap combing with my fingers to pull out any hairs, then leave it to dry.

Never goes smelly. Goes a bit grey over time.

Yes! After every use! They smell

Hospitals dont use bleach anymore
You kill the good bacteria off along with the bad leading to Superbugs
Infective rooms are fogged, everything else is cleaned with detergent, hot water and washable mop heads
Bleach is not good
