Random things you take on holiday.

UK or abroad?
I'm trying to think if there's anything i need to take away that I may need.
I've got -
Pegs for our wet swimwear.
Note pad and paper - as at night I often can't switch off so writing down things helps.
Nail clippers / scissors.

Not necessarily random as such but things we may need but don't think of and don't want to get caught out

Laundry bags! I've even been known to separate them into washing loads 'as I go' on holiday 😁. I absolutely detest unpacking my suitcase and doing all the laundry when I get back home....

I do always take a fold up/ pop up laundry basket forgot that as it lives in the suitcase

I've also been known to use the laundrette to save on coming home to it all , especially the towels

Extension lead, so you only need one adapter plug

Roughly where are you going? If it's not outer Mongolia, there's nothing you cannot buy when there. However I do bring things I might not be able to get such as throat spray, eye drops, little bottle of magnesium spray, the little bottles of mini Robinsons lemon and lime for adding to water, so handy in the handbag!, I'll probably think of more eventually!

Tea bags, hot chocolate powder and carrier bags/bin bags for the dirty washing 😂

DH is an August birthday so birthday cake candles and holders.

If self catering in the UK, decent frying pan and a sharp knife.

Nail scissors.

We holiday in the UK as we've got older dogs who come with us.

I always take a wok or a saute pan (can't bear the pans left in holiday lets) and if there isn't one listed in the let, I take my coffee machine. It's not a holiday for me if I can't have my 1st coffee of the day. DH just rolls his eyes and makes space in the boot

Tempur travel mattress and pillow. Portable aircon unit travelled with us in July. Yes, I know its madness. Oh for the days when I used to travel light.

Over door hooks so there's a place to hang towels after a shower.

Also if we're going on a caravan holiday I always take a small table light just in case the only lighting is is the big strip lights.

We just take our morning tea cups, which have to be very large. The rest we improvise, but we did have to buy a bread knife last year.

Bucket and spade (junior size).

My ice machine. I cannot bear a warm gin and tonic.

We have a very small table fan that I can easily pack. Helps with warm rooms at night time.

Also a lighted magnifying mirror; I found staying with family that lighting always isn't the best. We are of an age where stray chin for me or eyebrow for DH pop out of nowhere!

Bag for dirty washing
Fresh book or two
Squash
Hair wrap
Mints (better than Rennie s for heart burn, also fresh breath and helping stop ears popping on planes)

I also write down all the details of my flights, time, airline, reference no, customer service email and Number etc, print my tickets and keep it all seperate to my phone in case I lose it. Keep a credit card alongside it for emergencies

I travel quite a lot but I do not leave the country without Yorkshire tea bags. Ever.

If I’m self-catering I always take an ice cube tray & a corkscrew.

Cappuccino coffee sachets. The free shower caps from hotels to wrap dirty shoes in.

We always bring vinegar as my DD is outraged that it can’t be found on the continent 🙈

It does depend on the country, but generally

-Nescafe, smooth instant coffee.

-Those mini, concentrate squash bottles- inferior squash and coffee abroad tastes awful IMO
-Plastic bags for shopping
-Tampons if applicable. I recall doing charades with a male pharmacist in Thailand which I'd never want to repeat!
-If its self catering then I take my oxo peeler. I hate peeling with anything else.

handheld fan
sunbed towel pegs
Waterproof phone case
ear plugs
eye mask (god damn any accommodation that doesn’t have black out blinds!!)

and put your sunglasses in your hand luggage, I once nearly burnt my retinas stepping off the plane onto white concrete!!

I always take ear plugs and an extension cable which also has connectors for charging cables and then just a couple of adapters, so the extension gets used for everything,
