Such a bright star gone. RIP Dolly,

SomaTaim · 26/08/2026 05:47

So sad. Love Dolly 💖

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 26/08/2026 07:52

Her Imagination Library website is again accepting donations, it's very easy to do.
My littlest has one of her books, and adores it.

A life well lived, a legacy left behind. She was on of the Greats.

I’m going to re-watch the documentary about The Trio (Dolly, Linda Ronstadt and Emmy-Lou Harris). Their voices woven together were divine and such a joy to see the three hugely talented women’s mutual respect and affection.

Velvasilk · 26/08/2026 10:13

I enjoyed all the tributes on TV last night.

DemelzaandRoss · 26/08/2026 14:01

Dolly was unique.
I should be happy for her incredible life.
Instead I feel horribly sad at her passing.
RIP Dolly.

I think we should all be grateful for the amazing talented hard working individual that Dolly was.

Dolly has definitely left this world a sadder place, but her music will live on.

I'm glad she was doing what she loved making music right to the end.

I saw her s few years back she was amazing.
I still laugh at the Radio presenters joking in the morning where did Dolly sleep last night, each guessing Glasgow poshest hotels. Nope the SEC carpark in a campervan.

Where’ve you heard this??

It was on the news yesterday

Rezzles · 26/08/2026 18:05

She never had children, but she did so much for children with her literacy programme.

Missingpop · 26/08/2026 18:10

Heartbreaking; I think because she looked so young we all forget was actually an 80 year old lady; very well preserved externally but internally she had the organs etc of a woman of 80years old; & at that age sometimes illnesses go undetected until it’s too late; although I did read she suffered dreadfully from reoccurring kidney stones which I know from personal experience are agonisingly painful. She was tiny but she was mighty & living proof not all hero’s wear capes; she did so much for disadvantaged people & for children; she never forgot her humble beginnings & was never embarrassed by them which is pretty unique these days most people would want to forget they were born & brought up in what amounts to little more than a shed but it was filled with love xx

I was feeling sad about Dolly today but then also a lot of joy, she truly was an example of a life well lived, she gave it all she had and then some.

So sad I loved Dolly. My daughters hamster was named after her.

Lalgarh · 26/08/2026 20:08

Dolly the sheep 🐑 was also named after her.

Norwaygirl · 26/08/2026 20:57

Dolly was a complete ray of sunshine. I have cried over her passing. I often use the shampoo Vosene and always sing it out loud to the Jolene tune as, "Vosene, Vosene"

She never had children, but she did so much for children with her literacy programme.

The mayor of Rotherham wrote her a letter in 2007 asking her to bring her literacy programme to his town, and she did - amazing, generous woman obliging the request from a little town in the UK and coming over especially. My MIL used to collect jumble for a charity, and a lot of Dolly’s books ended up being donated, which I was always surprised by. If my child had received one, I’d have cherished it and saved it for my grandchildren.

Netcurtainnelly · 26/08/2026 22:48

Sad news❤️❤️😭

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · Yesterday 07:52

I feel privileged to have been able to see her in concert once.

She was amazing! Kind, generous, compassionate, sense of humor, NICE and just a wonderful person. If everyone in the world had a quarter of her traits, this would be quite a good world to live in.

Cannesdo · Yesterday 11:22

Dolly, Emmylou Harris and Linda Rondstadt did 2 albums where they sing together in harmony.
Their voices joining together so melodically 🩷
One track, “To Know Him is to Love Him” is sublime
Please give it a listen.
Rest in peace lovely Dolly. ⭐️

Joliloily · Yesterday 22:38

She’s the very first celebrity that I’ve actually shed a tear over.
