So sad to hear this 😪

I just started watching a podcast called the Dumb Blond podcast and she was interviewed in November 2025, she looks quite frail there.

I don’t know why but it’s made me so sad. Love dolly and always listen to her music. I feel weird being upset over someone I didn’t know.

I just saw elsewhere that she was an "international treasure" and it is true and this is why people are genuinely sad about her death.

How wonderful that nobody has a bad word to say about her.

It's a rarity in this modern world isn't it? Usually there's many out there nitpicking at celebrities but not Dolly - she was a legend!

Echobelly · 25/08/2026 21:21

I was never a listener of her music but this is a rare celebrity death that has made me feel sad, she was clearly such a kind, generous and humble woman. Really an example of how to live your life when good fortune comes your way.

Such heartbreaking news. I only met and worked with Dolly a few times so it’s hard to explain the bond I felt. She was the best of us and lived her life in a way we should all aspire to. Her talent and humanity were beyond compare. I will always miss you.

he made a tv programme with her which I saw

Imaginary86 · 25/08/2026 21:22

Such a sad loss

Oh this is very sad news. I don’t know why but I always hoped she’s gonna live long, she looked after her health, so I wished we’ll have her among us for longer. Rip Dolly.

80 shes done well, she was really fit and active doing gigs recently. I couldn't imagine her living to 90 or 100 getting really old and frail.
She had a fantastic life.

Noooooo! Such a lovely, compassionate and talented lady.

This!
An extraordinary woman who achieved SO much in her life and benefitted SO many others.
I just loved listening to her talk of her early days. She was incredibly intelligent and also funny, warm and caring. A life well lived and her many talents put to great use. She leaves an amazing legacy.
She will be very much missed and well remembered.

About a month ago,I read a puff piece about her saying she had neglected her own health while caring for her husband

I said to dp that she wont have long left

If every human being gave 1% of what dolly gave to the world, the world would be a different place

She's one of my female icons in life, someone I really looked up to as a woman

My friends dog (who we adored) died 3 hours ago and as we got home from saying goodbye to him,dp said 'oh bloody hell, dolly parton has died'

I messaged ds with 'ziggy and dolly Parton have died, the world will keep spinning, but the lights have dimmed'

Rip dolly-you where loved by all (a true woman in a man's world-she did it with grace, with humour, with talent and a cracking voice)

She was the queen of the best one liners

'Son of jolene' (bells) and 'you can keep him jolene' (chapel hart) are two of the best spin off tunes

Fiddlesticks1 · 25/08/2026 21:26

😥

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 25/08/2026 21:26

Such a sad loss.

Seen the Graham Norton show and seen her a couple of times on there.

Kelly Osborne has written a brilliant tribute.

This year sucks, loosing to many good people. But alas for me that includes my mum. It's starting to feel like 2016 on fast forward

the80sweregreat · 25/08/2026 21:30

She wrote so many songs! Over 3000 at one stage
A true legend

Thanksforyourlackofthought · 25/08/2026 21:31

In Rotherham Hospital, they have huge photographs up of her handing over books to children. Quite a deprived area so really lovely thing for her to have done because I can’t really believe that Rotherham would’ve been on her radar if she wasn’t actually looking.

Kopfkino · 25/08/2026 21:33

Dolly Parton, thank you and rest in well deserved peace.

Bloody hell, what a woman X

bigplate · 25/08/2026 21:33

I'm still so sad and I've known for hours. She was a genius songwriter and a magnificent poet.

I follow someone on instagram and he was talking about this, it is his hometown .

Ohdearnotthisagain · 25/08/2026 21:35

That’s very sad, she gave so much to others.

DefiantRabbit9 · 25/08/2026 21:37

I am absolutely gutted about this. She was an absolute treasure. I hope her philanthropy continues.

Her book charity is one of her biggest legacies.

If you want to pay tribute to Dolly, donate a children's book.

She was a good 'un

2021x · 25/08/2026 21:40

Overall she was a positive gain for humanity. We need more Dolly Partons.

I hope she is at peace xx

Neverstopwondering · 25/08/2026 21:41

Always seemed like such a genuinely nice person. I only learnt just how much she did for charity and how amazing she was a couple of years ago.

May her memory be blessed

ABitFab · 25/08/2026 21:41

Such sad news this morning. Such a fan

FFSItsTooHot · 25/08/2026 21:42

Just saw it on Facebook. I had to Google it to check it was true. Can't say I was ever a fan of her music, but this has shocked me. I only learned about what a lovely, generous person she was a couple of years ago. She was one of those people who you think will go on forever. RIP Dolly.

EconomyClassRockstar · 25/08/2026 21:43

I'm genuinely gutted but what an incredible life Dolly had. That's true winning, right there.

What was all that about?

Barbara Walters was a 'serious' news interviewer who won awards for incisive interrogations.

Then she met Dolly Parton
