OMG I LOVE The Orville. It's brilliant. So clever and funny!

I’m so sad 😞 she’s just one of those people who has been a figure I’ve loved my whole life.
as a child listening to her songs round the house as my parents were fans.
She always just kept busy it seems so crazy to think she’s gone.

Im really not ok.I love her and shes done so much for children's reading and she was a brilliant singer and personality.

She always seemed a really lovely woman.
I remember being truly horrified and thinking what a complete ignorant cow Barbara Walters was to her, in that interview in the later 70's.

I couldn't ever look at Barbara again, such a nasty bitch.
That said, Dolly handled her like the classy pro she was.

She had more style in her pinky than Barbara ever possessed.

Genuinely upset. I was out for dinner when I heard the news. Had to leave the restaurant i was so upset. I know i dont know her, but that doesn't seem to matter. I adored this woman. She was truly amazing and a one off.

She’s adored in our family. A proper working class success and exceptionally talented artist. Showing women what could be achieved in a man’s’ world. She brought good things to so many. We’ll be watching 9 to 5 again. Her Glastonbury slot was iconic. Respect. 💔

Oh I’m so sad. I love her. I don’t usually enjoy live albums but her Glastonbury set is impeccable and I’ve listened to it often.

I’m a local administrator for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library I know how important it is to our families. The good that Dolly did will live on long after she has gone.

I'm sorry you were so upset. ❤ I don't think it's hit me yet. Not properly. I have known Dolly/known of Dolly and been a fan for 50 years, and have records of hers from the 1970s onwards. She has so many beautiful songs. I think this will hit me like George Michael did. 😢

Such a clever, kind, multi-talented woman. Like many people I underestimated your sharp mind and acumen for many years, and I apologise for taking you at face value before I realised just what an incredible woman you were. You will be hugely missed Dolly.

The media often really overdo celebrity deaths. They can't overdo this one, she's worth all of it. An exemplar of a human being.

Humble, self deprecating, humorous, generous, a fabulous singer/song writer, a very astute business woman with a heart of solid gold.

@Toosadtonight, I have worked in child protection as a social worker for two decades and before that in addiction services and in my 20s as a nurse in disadvantaged areas. She was such an advocate and force for good for people who, often through no fault of their own, are at the bottom of the ladder in a world where this should no longer be accepted. A truly remarkable and empathetic women who always stuck up for 'the little people'

What was all that about?

Oh this is very sad news. I don’t know why but I always hoped she’s gonna live long, she looked after her health, so I wished we’ll have her among us for longer. Rip Dolly.

I’m really sad to hear this. Whenever I saw Dolly being interviewed, she was so absolutely lovely. A classy lady.
It’s not that long since her husband died, is it. Hope they’re together now.

What a woman

Just last week I was walking through my local town and a band was singing Jolene. As I walked past, I was so struck ( again!) by the poignancy of that line “ please don’t take him just because you can”.
I adored Dolly Parton, and remember her incredible generosity during covid for the vaccine.
