I got a job with Stanley, he said I’d come in handy (one for the older MNetters)

I guess he started you on Monday, so you had a bath on Sunday?

GustyGertie · 25/08/2026 09:28

It’s not all it’s cracked up to be, honestly I wouldn’t bother.

Lilypad34 · 25/08/2026 09:29

You have to be asked to join the illuminati, sacrifice your youngest then eat pizza or something.

Just open an account and get a tripod for your camera.

DoorOpening · 25/08/2026 09:33

You have to know which fork to use. Good luck, OP!

JoanOgden · 25/08/2026 09:34

It's mostly about the special handshake, but a total lack of scruples and morals definitely helps too.

WellQuite · 25/08/2026 09:37

Did you work eleven hours, and buy the girl some flowers?

OooPourUsACupLove · 25/08/2026 09:37

Recruited at Cambridge by my tutor.

Given a new identity with false records in all government systems. There's a small team running my socials to give me a dull and everyday footprint.

Fingerprints destroyed with acid. Plastic surgery just enough that anyone who might recognise me from my old life would look closer and decide they were wrong.

I had to cut all ties to my old life forever.

My family and friends think I died in a fire at uni. It still hurts, sometimes.

I think @Jojofox111 Has got the job so is either
On a team building course,

Whisked away to a remote island
( why do people always get 'whisked' away and not just taken?)

Buried under a pile of paperwork,

Doing training for a situation that they will never encounte,

Doing a pointless induction course

Or . . . . .

WellQuite · 25/08/2026 09:54

Lift someone else's work for your PhD, make up a lot of stuff about cancer/brain tumours/epilepsy/life support/marathons/voluntary work/ racist attacks/shamans. Be charming and use a lot of buzzwords. Cambridge will make you a professor.

With great attention to detail….

bitontheobtuse · 25/08/2026 12:02

The advert will appear on here for about 30 seconds. Read between the lines and follow the clues. Knock on the right door. You're in.

If you blinked and missed it, don't worry. Buy The Times. 😏😎

calflions · 25/08/2026 12:07

It wasn't something I ever planned, but when the damnyankees came through they unreasonably freed all the slaves so I had to pick the cotton MYSELF can you believe it.

upinaballoon · 25/08/2026 12:07

They have to pass a test to see if they know the difference between 'of' and 'off'.

MNLurker1345 · 25/08/2026 12:18

Just lay in bed all day and someone will eventually knock on the door!

SpikyCoconut · 25/08/2026 12:27

If you go to your GP they'll give you a fit for work note which I guess could be referred to as 'a line off work'. Makes about as much sense as much of the English language.

I was looking for a job and then I found a job and heaven knows I’m miserable now.

Have a drink! “You were happy in the haze of a drunken hour.”

You have to have gone to high school at The School of Hard Knocks, have a degree from the University of Facebook, and make references to 'mainstream media' and 'sheeple'. It's the only way.

Thats rubbish, I started aged 13 with only a swimming certificate.

Was it a bronze swimming certificate? (bsc)

madaboutpurple · 25/08/2026 21:44

I'm still none the wiser what this is about. Some of the comments are funny.
