What would you buy if your partner told you to spoil yourself?

If your partner gave you free reign and said “take this card, spoil yourself, no limit” what would you buy?

something you’ve had your eye on but usually wouldn’t get for yourself or just something you decide on a whim you want..

Not a spur of the moment thing no
Depending on the money being offered a new car or a set of Rituals Sakura toiletries.

If I gave DH my card with a " knock yersel out" free rein ,he'd book a holiday (££ one)

I'd buy a convertible Audi but I'm guessing no limit doesn't actually mean no limit.

Something I've always wanted but can't afford/wouldn't waste my money on is a Chanel handbag.

I'd also like to have a few nights in a suite with a sea view balcony at The Headland Hotel in Newquay or The Carbis Bay Hotel. I'd buy a new dress from Liberty to wear whilst having my dinner.

Low cost I'd have a full set of Emma Hardie cleansers/moisturisers and some Diptique candles.

I’d buy a brown cashmere jumper I saw in M&S recently for £110

SunshineSpice · 24/08/2026 13:02

A series of short breaks spread through the year and a spa day a month

reluctantbrit · 24/08/2026 13:08

Booking a book signing abroad - I have my eyes on one in Canada but can't justify the travel costs.

If not that then ordering as many special editions I can get my hands on, postage be dammed.

concertinacornflake · 24/08/2026 13:11

This whole concept is weird. I wouldn't want this treatment. Buy me a gift or I can buy my own stuff with my own money.

aliasfrog · 24/08/2026 13:14

One of those HUGE jellycats hahah

FoodieDench · 24/08/2026 13:41

No limit doesn't really exist if it's my partner's card as it just means we end up poorer as a couple! If it was a stranger's money and they told me there was no limit, I'd buy my dream house.

whippersnapper55 · 24/08/2026 17:02

I'd book a weekend away at a lovely hotel with a gorgeous spa and restaurant for myself and my 3 besties! Could be expensive!

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 24/08/2026 18:18

Knowing it wouldn't be Ferrari or a week in New York money, Id go for one of those all in Japanese head spa things, the one where they give your face and shoulders a good pummeling too.

iloveanearlynight · 24/08/2026 18:26

Free *rein.

I would just choose something I needed like new work shoes. I don't do extravagance.

AbacusCat · 24/08/2026 18:29

In an imaginary world where my husband had the money to afford it, there's a £700 antique I have been drooling over. But if he had the kind of money that meant he wouldn't miss £700, I'd have bought it by now from my own funds.

CleanSkin · 24/08/2026 18:37

I have no idea, and it’s not a problem I can ever imagine having tbh!

This.I don’t really get it.

"your partner told you to spoil yourself"

I'd be getting a new partner. There is so much there that is awful it's hard to know where to start.

"spoil yourself". yuck. No one ever speaks to men like this 'treat yourself' 'spoil yourself' - it's this built in idea that men can have what they like whenever but women need permission to have something nice.

It's lazy and thoughtless. Tell him you'd rather have something that he had put a nanosecond into thinking about what you would like rather than delegating it to you.

It smacks of that entitled 'I will buy your affection with my largesse" male mentality. Pretty Woman here take my card and go shopping.

Not for me. If he's going to be that much of an idiot, I'd go to Tiffany or Asprey and buy an unusual necklace that I loved and would outlast the relationship.

Here's one for £120,000 to get you started:

www.asprey.com/products/pear-cut-multicolour-sapphire-necklace-in-18ct-white-gold-with-diamonds?oc=GB

That would teach him.

@Askandyforcompo My parents have stayed at the Carbis Bay Hotel as have I with my mother and my siblings before our Aunt's funeral. It is not that special, although the food was surprisingly good and they had an excellent selection of gins.

NoEligibilityRequirementsApply · 24/08/2026 18:51

I’d buy an Irish Sports horse.

Yetanothername3 · 24/08/2026 18:52

Would never happen! I have everything I need or want, all self-funded. I do not regard random shopping as fun or enjoyable.

AbacusCat · 24/08/2026 18:57

I have to disagree. I'm the 'breadwinner' at home and I sometimes tell my husband to treat himself.

thisismeithinkorisit · 24/08/2026 19:00

OK, the best idea on here is the book signing abroad, so I'm going that or gig abroad with associated costs

summitfever · 24/08/2026 19:04

A drone

PermanentTemporary · 24/08/2026 19:05

I don’t see how this works either.

If it would please dp to buy me a substantial present I’d probably book an appointment at Rigby & Peller and buy some nice lingerie. I like that kind of thing anyway.

DewDropsAndCobWebs · 24/08/2026 19:06

A new e bike, as I have crashed mine this week!

I want to know more about book signings. Is it a big thing, are there more events around the signing itself you can go to or are you just travelling to queue and have 10 seconds with the author? Do all the fans get together to discuss afterwards?

I too hate the idea of 'spoil yourself', it's family money not his to give away.

If a random told me I had to buy myself something with his money I'd pay for an interior desigber and all the work required.

NormasArse · 24/08/2026 19:15

Another dog (rescue).

And a new wetsuit jacket.

A holiday cottage in Wales for Christmas.

And maybe a cat (but he’s allergic).
