Advice for husbands adjusting to daily shaving for a new job

Husband has secured a job where he is facing having to be “clean shaven” or to sport groomed facial hair.

Husband is refusing to go down any bearded road, but is also terrified at the prospect of ripping his skin to shreds every 24 hours. He currently shaves every other day, or further apart if he can get away with it, but he is now facing, with jangling nerves, corporate levels of presentability.

What do other husbands do? Is there some caveman, Reddit-honed secret out there that can help?

You're obviously not new to MN so will have seen this before I'm sure OP, it's bizarre. Some folk really do get a kick out of, rather than ignoring a thread that doesn't interest them, being an arsehole to someone for the sake of it. They'd never speak to someone like that in real life, being behind a screen makes them feel they have the right to be a dick. I see dozens of threads on here that I think wtf?, but ignore them, like a normal person.

I agree with shaving after a shower.

I use a safety razor with the old-style double edged blades. They're really cheap if you buy in bulk; I think I paid about £7 for 100 Bic Chrome Platinum blades. I replace the blade every week. That plus the Nivea sensitive skin shaving gel works really well.

My DH just interviewed for a teaching position at an elite private boarding school, and they said that their staff dress code requires male teachers to be clean shaven.

One of my DD’s teacher has a very full beard and frequently wears a dress.

If you have a shave the night before, you’re going to need one in the morning again.

It varies a lot from person to person. I find shaving in the evening works fine for me.

On the other hand I've got a friend who is the hairiest person I know. He shaves twice a day and still looks like he's got a 5 o'clock shadow within minutes. It's astonishing. I suspect he's actually a werewolf.
