Morning, I'm glad you're well stocked up on biscuits @TeaAndStrumpets

Hope you can have a steady day @MewithME

I got woken up at 2am by someone visiting the upstairs neighbours - heard them come in, then loud talking and music. Resorted to banging on the ceiling and they did calm down, but their visitor was popping out about once an hour to vape, so doors banging and clomping up and down stairs. Will be messaging the landlady tomorrow.

Had some shopping delivered and planning to make a sausage casserole later. I was going to attempt another little jog but don't feel great after the lack of sleep. Will get some rest and see how I feel in a bit.

Swanhilde · 11/10/2026 10:17

Day of rest here. I had a lovely day yesterday, meeting old friends and an evening with family, but I am shattered and seriously need to do nothing today 🥱

I am going to put the kettle on though, so if anyone wants a brew ... ☕

Well that is very antisocial. Some people have no manners. I second writing to the landlady.

Thanks, peppermint tea as usual!

Well I am just rubbish at resting. I had to euthanise my monstera recently...I got round to checking my beloved yucca which I've had for 8 years and I think it's got the blooming bug. So I went to get some bug spray and then remembered we don't have packed lunch stuff so had to go in big supermarket too. They've closed my lovely little local co-op.... So I'm back now.

Yucca in garden and sprayed. Hope I've done the right thing and it recovers. I'm terribly fond of it.

I'm really exhausted now and still have to ring my mother for a head mashing phone call 😭

Afternoon all.
Pleasant bright day which started off a bit chilly.
Been quite productive. Loaded & sorted dishwasher, put a load of washing on & mopped the bathroom floor this morning. Unfortunately it's one of those that never looks clean. Sort of pale sand with black bitty spots (was here when we moved in) Drives me mad. But it's wet room flooring so rather expensive to replace "just because". But when it needs to go I'll gladly choose a better design.
Now sat having a rest before putting coffee on. Dd1 & family will be popping in later so looking forward to that.
Hope you all have a restful day.

Oh you brought back a memory of my lovely Dad. When one of the girls was born my parents came over and he set to with the vacuum cleaner. He went over the carpet several times, eventually saying "I can't get these bits up" I had to explain it was a berber with flecks in, poor chap!

You've done really well compared with me, my plants are generally doomed from very early on!

Swanhilde · 12/10/2026 13:58

Have been for acupuncture this morning and am now resting in bed. Tomorrow I start my 4 days a week - wish me luck 🤞

TodayIsabetterone · 12/10/2026 14:46

Afternoon all - just edited as I started off my saying morning! 😂 Sums up how I feel today tbf!

A wet one here so been trying to list some bits on Vinted this morning as we have a big pile of stuff to try and sell after our recent decluttering efforts. DH helped by taking the photos so I could mostly sit as my shoulder isn’t great just now but he’s very particular so it probably took longer than it should have. 🙄

Plus Dippy dog didn’t want to go out in the rain today so decided to put her excess energy to use by hiding her ball under the bed whilst we were busy and then cry til DH or me retrieved it so that was rather distracting. She thought it was a fabulous game! 😂

Hope your noisy neighbours have settled down @martha79 Mu mum is in a flat and having issues with the flat above her, it’s been very stressful for her so I feel for you.

Good luck with your extra work day @Swanhilde hope you manage okay 🤞

martha79 · 12/10/2026 15:33

Afternoon all

Good luck with the longer week @Swanhilde

Hope your mum's neighbours settle down @TodayIsabetterone

After much noise and people going in and out yesterday, I bumped into the man from upstairs who apologised for the noise and told me him and his partner had had a massive argument and she'd left. Right enough, she turned up again in the evening with her mum and took all her stuff! So other than him going downstairs and outside to vape/ smoke rather regularly, it's been really quiet since then. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if there was some ill-advised reconciliation later in the week, but we'll see.

Today's been alright, had a load of adminny and printing stuff to do for work and amazingly the printer behaved. Had a good counselling appointment too which felt like nice consolidation of a few things rather than any massive revelations (also we talked about the Traitors as she's also watching it for the first time this series).

Very much feeling the change in temperature today - I've had the heating on and my hot water bottle next to me all day. Made a sausage casserole in the pressure cooker, so looking forward to that later.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/10/2026 16:50

Sounds like you're ready for action @Swanhilde ! Hope you adapt soon.

@TodayIsabetterone I have never sold on Vinted but I think it does build up to a useful sum if you just keep listing regularly. I tend to pass stuff on to DD1 who sells online quite a bit, and she uses the balance for football boots etc! Boys are expensive 😉

@martha79 you are certainly witnessing a bit of drama! Glad it's calm for now.

I did a bit too much yesterday and have been like a zombie. I am taking heed though and slowing right down. It's the only way!

Oioiqueen · 12/10/2026 16:53

Good luck tomorrow @Swanhilde

@TodayIsabetterone dippy dog had the right idea by staying in

@martha79 I love a bit of neighbourly drama. Unfortunately mine only extends as far as it looking like next doors DS isn't returning to his second year at university considering he is still at home. I thought all students would have gone back by now surely?

I decided this morning was a good time to start cutting back the huge bush on our boundary line. The boundary belongs to a utility company but they never give a monkeys so I am taking matters into my own hands. I object to having to pay someone to trim it when it's not even ours. The old owners planted something on our side of the wire fence and it's grown and tangled up with whatever sharp and prickly thing is on the other side. I'll get rid of our side and trim theirs back to a reasonable height is the aim. However I'll make the decision once I can get far enough back to the roots to know what sits where. Today was quite a harder one as I've started at the end where it's branched out and wrapped itself within our fence panels. Once I get in the middle it should be straight forward.

I filled our garden waste bin which will get emptied tomorrow and I'll keep attempting until it's all cut down. It may take until nesting season starts again to finish with the possibility of having to pay a waste company to take the last lot if it gets close to it. Im all achy and worn out now but I'm actually quite OK about feeling like that after a job well done albeit nowhere near finished yet. Once I started though I began to get quicker once I could see in there where I'd been. Probably not using the right tools for the job but it happened.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 12/10/2026 18:17

Evening.
Good luck @Swanhilde. Hope the new work pattern suits you.
@Oioiqueen you're brave! A chipper might be the thing that would come in handy. Shreds small woody branches into managable chips.

Dippy dog sounds adorable 😁.

I've put the little blow heater on & am tucked under a blanket. Feels colder than it says on the forecast & already getting dark.

TodayIsabetterone · 12/10/2026 21:13

It’s so satisfying to make progress on a job like that @Oioiqueen Well done you!
DH & I tackled a very overgrown border last year where brambles had run amok over several years of both of us being unwell. We had got gardeners in who trimmed other borders but found a wasps nest so wouldnt do that one so we needed to finish it! Took ages in fits and starts but we got there over time. Then this years health issues hit so all the garden is on hold again which is frustrating but I still look at that border and think we did an amazing job considering everything!

Yes my DD sells bits on Vinted too @TeaAndStrumpets but then buys more bits! I did it regularly the last year or two and it definitely adds up so am pleased I’ve got some things listed. A few sales today so a good start!

You sound nice and cosy @CoffeeBeansGalore Tucked up in bed myself now with a snoring dippy dog who finally wore herself out. She really does bring us so much joy.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

TodayIsabetterone · Today 11:54

It’s quiet on here! Hows everyone doing?

Hospital here for ECG fitting this morning. Got to wear it for 7 days this time! Not sure why really as 3 day one was okay but we’ll see. Went for a coffee whilst up and out and now I’m snuggled up with dippy dog recovering. It’s a gorgeous day but I feel a bit chilly for some reason so heated blanket is on much to the dogs delight.

Shoulder isn’t great, not sure the injection has done a lot 😕 so back to GP on Friday to see what’s next. He must be fed up of me I’m sure but I’m pretty fed up of it all too!

Hope everyone is as okay as can be.

MewithME · Today 12:07

@TodayIsabetterone hope it goes ok. My ECG wasn't too bad. Not as bad as the BP monitor anyway.

I'm having early lunch because I feel absolutely awful m I'm WFH today but have to host a teams meeting in a bit. I am going to have a few more mins and stick some lipstick on.

I was hungry but have awful heart palpitations now I've eaten as usual.

Still think I might be fighter a virus off. It's weird. It's like how I was a few weeks ago.

I am in bed for a few mins with my heat pad. Could do with a dippy dog to cuddle 🤗

OP posts:
TodayIsabetterone · Today 12:43

Ahh hope your meeting goes okay. Must be so hard when you’re not feeling right 😕 Also hard to differentiate between a virus and just general ME stuff sometimes isn’t it!

Yes dippy dog definitely brightens up my life! As well as adding stress when she’s reactive to delivery men but we generally say 95% of the time she’s absolutely adorable but the other 5% Feral! 😂

Yes The ECG monitor is definitely better than the BP monitor I agree! Just the stickers irritated last time after 3 days but shes given me a spare set so I can adjust slightly if needs be!

CoffeeBeansGalore · Today 12:56

Afternoon.
Bit grim here today. Grey & windy.

@MewithME hope you get through the meeting ok.

Dippy dog sounds adorable. Mine has just been nagging for a digestive biscuit as I'd sat down with a coffee. He'll be back nagging for the coffee next. Just waiting for dd2 to come & walk them.

TodayIsabetterone · Today 13:07

Oh yes any food is highly coveted by dippy dog too @CoffeeBeansGalore though she hasn’t discovered coffee yet 😂
cheese is her particular favourite.. she literally sits and cries for cheese 😂 She’s due her annual vet visit next week which I’m dreading as I know she’ll be a nightmare but I’m pretty sure we’ll be told she’s put on weight!

TeaAndStrumpets · Today 13:15

Hope the lipstick does the trick putting you in work mode @MewithME ....They don't call it warpaint for nothing!

I don't get on with sticky pads either @TodayIsabetterone they give me nasty red marks. I even get them from micropore tape which is basically paper! When I had cataract surgery I had to tape on a plastic eye shield overnight and the skin on my face reacted. You can get a hospital strength wipe to remove adhesive so I've bought a packet for the medicine cupboard. I never have a problem with actual elasoplast brand though so that's something.

Nothing much to report here, just packing and packing. It does make me long for a minimalist lifestyle! The garage / workshop will be a huge job. We have several friends lined up to help. The most diligent and available volunteer has been in an accident and broken 7 ribs so he's not available 😧. DH has gone over to visit, so I'm having a quiet day watching paint samples dry lol.

I have been very good about resting but it is noticeable how easy it is to fall back into boom and bust. I've overdone things a few times and there are always consequences so I'm trying to rein myself in a bit. More rest has really calmed my IBS too, which always plays up with fatigue.

Hope everyone is OK.

TeaAndStrumpets · Today 13:31

These dogs and their cheese!

Without being unkind DD1's JRT is not particularly bright. The only time he ever behaved like Lassie and came to fetch her was one morning when he raced upstairs and yapped and whined until she followed him down into the kitchen. He sat quivering in high excitement until she noticed the half eaten cheese sandwich on the worktop! He obviously thought Finders Keepers but just couldn't reach it 😂

Oh gosh I’m exactly the same with anything adhesive even the tape if it’s on too long yet fine with plasters!
The taping from the osteopath was so helpful pain wise but the second application left red welts on my back! Even DH was shocked when he helped remove the taping and saw them… obviously I couldn’t see without the aid of 2 mirrors so didn’t realise til it got very sore!
