Yes I think offering amitrptiline or nortriptiline is probably GPs first line of action but a lot of people with ME are sensitive to meds and feel zonked tje next day! I didn’t get on with it either. If your GP doesn’t offer any alternatives then might be worth asking for a referral to the pain clinic but I do remember waiting a long time.

Acupuncture is a good shout @TeaAndStrumpets It halved the number of headaches/ migraines I was getting. My osteopath sometimes uses dry needling which gives me some relief with my shoulder currently.

Well after my rough start and painkillers I’ve come round enough to do a bit of housework though I may regret it tomorrow! Managed to hoover snd steam mop the kitchen and then roped DD in to hoover upstairs and mop the bathroom so feels a lot better everywhere.

Been in the garden with dippy dog… 21° today and glorious sunshine! So nice for October!

Steady on!! It's nice that you are a having a little surge of energy and that is so good for morale, but don't go mad 😄Hope it's a good sign that you are a tiny bit better.

I've had a long nap today, there is dust and chaos everywhere but I am ignoring it!

We watched Department Q at last, really enjoyed it. I think Professor T is next on the watch list. We tried Dark Matter on Apple but it seemed very long drawn out, I imagine the book would have been enjoyable though. Looks like it's going to be an anguished Quantum Leap.

The worst thing was trying to get back into the Apple app on the TV, we hadn't watched anything on Apple for months so maybe it gets cancelled for inactivity? Then I couldn't remember my password so had to jump through numerous hoops to prove my identity and reset it. I put in a new password and they rejected it because I'd used it within the last year....sure enough my brain had spat out my existing password at last! In the end I added an exclamation mark and they were happy. Such is modern life 🙄

TodayIsabetterone · 05/10/2026 17:45

Oh passwords @TeaAndStrumpets the absolute bane of modern life! Thank goodness my phone saves most of them although I also recently needed to re set one and also used my normal one with an exclamation mark at the end! Bet so many people do that!

And I fell asleep this afternoon so surge of energy definitely didn’t last. 😂 I’m definitely taking less paracetamol this last 2 days though so the injection must be doing something somewhere to calm some of the inflammation.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 05/10/2026 17:47

@danglythedingle oh not good. So sorry.

@MewithME Turmeric is a good natural anti inflammatory.

That is promising, hope things are looking up. 🌷

Oioiqueen · 06/10/2026 08:56

@TodayIsabetterone I was told similar with paracetamol. I took it continuously when I was diagnosed again with cancer. I was sceptical about it working but it does build up in your system over time.

@Swanhilde I had a great time on amytriptiline, some great sleep on that. Although DH used to laugh as he could set his watch to how long until I'd be falling asleep on the sofa. However coming off it was grim, I had some very vivid disturbing dreams and I was only on 20mg.

Swanhilde · 06/10/2026 09:27

@Oioiqueen I had a frozen shoulder and 2 small children at the time and was getting no sleep due to the pain. But I couldn't function during the day so they had to go 😆

Today is my wedding anniversary 🥂

Currently waiting for my Sainsbury's delivery and then we're going out for lunch ❤️

Have a restful day all 💕

JewelleryCat · 06/10/2026 09:29

Happy anniversary @Swanhilde! Have a lovely day 🥂

TodayIsabetterone · 06/10/2026 10:07

Happy Anniversary @Swanhilde have a lovely lunch out.

We’ve got my SIL coming late afternoon for two nights. She’s taking DH to an event tomorrow which will be nice for him. She’s a very easy guest but hasn't stayed since we got dippy dog who is still reactive to people she doesn’t know coming in the house. We've booked the dog field again this afternoon as it totally wore her out last week so hopefully she’ll be too knackered to bark for too long! I adore dippy dog but it can be a bit stressful to deal with her reactivity to visitors and makes me sad she’s still so scared of other people a year on.

So resting this morning so I can hopefully cope okay later.
Have a good day all

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/10/2026 11:03

Happy Anniversary @Swanhilde enjoy your lunch 🍾

Oioiqueen · 06/10/2026 16:43

@Swanhilde yes you needed to be able to function with two little rugrats about 😂 Also Happy Wedding Anniversary.

We've had no post for over a week and now finally a big bundle meaning I've got my DWP letter. I had the back payment sent to me and needed the letter to understand the breakdown. I have been awarded top tier on both parts, didn't expect that only standard on both. I'll take it though, not going to sniff at that. Plus it doesn't get reviewed for 10 years so likely I won't be here to need to do it again.

For the first time in six months I feel a little bit settled. I'm signed off for another 3 months, OH agreed, PIP now sorted. Whilst I've got a scan end of this month and we'll know if I'm still stable beginning of next I feel like I've got breathing room for a few weeks at least.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/10/2026 17:04

Happy anniversary @Swanhilde 🥂. Hope you had a lovely meal.

@Oioiqueen glad you can relax for a bit now PiP sorted.

FuzzyPuffling · 06/10/2026 18:34

Hit like a brick with the fatigue stuff. Did the school run for DGS today. Yesterday i accompanied DH to hospital appt which was ok, but DH has decided not to have the further tests they suggested. I support him in that.
But its left me utterly knackered.

martha79 · 06/10/2026 18:47

Happy anniversary @Swanhilde, hope you enjoyed your meal out.

Great news on the PIP and OH being sorted @Oioiqueen

I've been tipped over the edge by the neighbours today - yesterday and today we've had really loud bass-thumping music from about 3pm-6pm (my colleagues could even hear it when I was on a Teams meeting with them). Tried knocking on their door but they didn't answer (possibly couldn't hear it over the music), so have left them a note saying that they perhaps don't realise how much the sound travels, but it's been really loud on various occasions and there are people trying to work from home/ hear their own TV/ just relax quietly. Also mentioned that there are more viewings for the empty flat this week and it won't give a good impression if the building is noisy - I think they know we all have the same landlady so hopefully won't be wanting to upset her (they don't know that it's actually me helping out by showing people the flat - they may think the landlady will be round.... 😈).

Felt extremely wobbly after that, the combined effect of the actual noise and the stress (you do not want to know what my heart rate went up to), so trying to calm down with some easy TV, sitting on the bed surrounded by cats.

TodayIsabetterone · 07/10/2026 08:37

Morning all, up early today as DH is off to an event today with SIL and they had an early start. They were quiet as mice so I didn't hear a thing until dippy dog realised there was someone else in the house this morning and ran down to bark loudly which I could have done without at 6:30 am!
So I’m back resting in bed whilst dippy dog is now fast asleep and snoring! Planning a chilled day enjoying having the house to myself!

Excellent news re PIP @Oioiqueen I’m so pleased that’s sorted now and there’ll be no extra stress with appeals or renewals at least. I’d been worried about that for you as the system can seem quite inhuman at times! Good you’ve got some breathing space with OH too so you can focus on yourself and your family.

Sorry to hear that @FuzzyPuffling it sounds like yesterday must have been a hard one both physically and perhaps emotionally too with DHs appointment. Take it easy today.

Oh heck @martha79 the situation with your neighbours sounds stressful, I’m not surprised you're feeling wobbly now. The physical impact prolonged noise has on me is one of the hardest symptoms for others to get I think! And it’s stressful when it’s outside of your control. I hope the note does the trick and you can have a quieter day.

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/10/2026 09:45

Morning all!

I keep getting long sleeps, maybe all my resting is doing some good.

@martha79 such sympathy re noisy neighbours. I hope you get a good response. If they are young perhaps they don't realise. I remember when DD2 had student neighbours she banged on their door at 1 am and gave them what for and they never made another peep.

@FuzzyPuffling it must be stressful at the moment, hope things go OK. You can't dictate how someone feels, just be supportive.

@TodayIsabetterone on the bright side, your little dog will always keep you safe from intruders!

TodayIsabetterone · 07/10/2026 10:04

That’s good you're sleeping well @TeaAndStrumpets fingers crossed the resting is paying off 👏

And yes any intruders would definitely be seen off which is not a bad thing! Hopefully by tomorrow morning she may realise SIL is actually welcome… She’d actually got used to her being here in the evening last night and even settled next to her at one point but obviously totally forgot again this morning! 🙄

She has the advantage of being at ankle height, so could probably nip intruders into submission!

Oioiqueen · 07/10/2026 10:30

@martha79 how are you feeling today?

@TeaAndStrumpets yay to sleep

@TodayIsabetterone your dippy dog is hilarious. They are such funny creatures. Next door apologised about their dog barking during the day once. Yes I'd heard her once or twice but I found it reassuring whilst I was working alone in the house. She didn't do it often but when she did I knew there was somebody trying to deliver or whatever. My neighbours seemed relieved, I don't know if someone had moaned to them but honestly she was very quiet for a dog.

Today is very autumnal, it's cold and has been drizzling all day. Hopefully the temperature won't drop too much more I'm waiting for grass seed to grow. I've left it a bit late but I felt well enough only recently to have the energy to do it. I am in car tyre replacement duty today so sat in Tesco having a drink before exploring the few shops here. Usually they take a couple of hours but they've said an hour today. They must be quiet but don't they know I love a shop mooch haha!

martha79 · 07/10/2026 11:07

Hooray for the good sleep @TeaAndStrumpets and for dippy dog being a good little guard dog @TodayIsabetterone

It is very dark and autumnal today, lots of rain. I'm still pretty anxious, know that the neighbours have seen the note now (as they've taken it off their door, although weirdly left the blu tac on) and it just feels tense waiting to see what will happen next.

Anyway, plenty of work to keep me busy. Expecting a few deliveries including some fancy handwash as my hands are really dry and uncomfy at the moment. And someone coming to view the empty flat next door early evening, so hopefully they won't be greeted by thumping bass!

I'm sure it'll be fine with your neighbours! You just need to train them lol.

I hate confrontation so I understand. Everyone's different. DD1 complains awfully nicely which generally works with people. DD2 takes no prisoners and lectures people who annoy her. She honed her natural skills by being a barmaid before she went to uni. She enjoyed barring people!

😂😂 That’s very true!

TodayIsabetterone · 07/10/2026 12:57

This little dog is quite the character @Oioiqueen She’s the fourth dog I’ve owned as an adult and probably the most affectionate, playful and funny but the reactivity isn’t easy. My SIL said last night, she’s adorable but you can see why she was given up which I’ve often thought myself 😂 Luckily we live in a detached house which faces away from the street so the neighbours can’t hear her!

Try not to worry too much @martha79 though I hate confrontation too. Hopefully they’ll be a bit more considerate.

Oioiqueen · 08/10/2026 10:10

Morning all, hope you are ok? Very sunny here in the middle but quite cold out of the sunshine.

Last week we went and looked at front doors. Guy was meant to come round and quote last week but I had a phone call on the morning asking to rearrange. Fine I am not exactly the socialite out every day. Meant to be this morning, I had 9.30 written down but nobody has appeared. I'm giving it an hour but then going to have to chase. I mean it could be innocent as I know my brain isn't firing 100% nowadays and I've written it down wrong. These things give me such anxiety though, more so now I double question everything. Knowing you aren't functioning 100% cognitively is such a scary thing sometimes.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 08/10/2026 12:41

Afternoon.
Bright, sunny but cold again. Definitely autumnal now. The clocks change quite early this time - Saturday 24th into Sunday 25th. Not long at all until it really feels like winter ☃️

It's more likely to be him than you! Have you got a back up guy to quote if he doesn't turn up? Having said that, we've employed loads of tradesmen over the last couple of years and given the choice of cheaper or very punctual I would go for punctual. Maybe that's just me though, I hate waiting around!
