Are heels or sandals better

I never wear heels anymore, my feet are glad of it, it depends what you're wearing but this time of year I'd likely wear sandals

Capri pants and a t shirt

Caveat to say I've not worn capri trousers since the early 2000s but sandals would be fine, or trainers, loafers or even a deck shoe depending on where you are going

Heels are so bad for posture, so bad for the back, so bad for the feet and legs that I honestly don't understand why anyone wears heels. On top of that the number of accidents people have wearing them and the fact tottering around on high heels generally looks pretty ridiculous and has the effect of making a woman look vulnerable.
Stick to sandals or footwear that actually looks good, is comfortable, and you can actually walk in OP.

TrojanDonkey · 18/08/2026 16:28

I wear trainers. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I wore heels.

60degreecycle · 18/08/2026 16:30

I'm not even sure what footwear went with Capri pants, so whatever you're most comfortable in. I haven't seen heels on a night out in a very long time...

I wore flip flops on Saturday night when I was out 😂😂
Friday I was out too and wore my Birkenstocks mules.
im not stylish but I am comfortable.
ETA I do still like heels (not stilettos) but only really wear them for car to bar scenarios, both my nights out over the weekend involved elements of walking and I cba with that.

How do heels make a woman look vulnerable?

Justploddingonandon · 18/08/2026 16:40

I wear trainers with everything unless it's black tie or similar, but I always did go for comfort over style.

Garfieldloveslasagnepie · 18/08/2026 16:40

Trainers with everything these days.

Nope but I wore heels for over 40 years and just can’t do it any more as much as I’d love to

I’ve got some block heeled sandals for dressy occasions. But a night in town would be trainers or flat sandals. Or boots in winter. Especially if it involved any walking.

why?

twilightsad · 18/08/2026 16:41

Ballet flats or a flat sandal would look nice with your capris. Or a kitten heel if you prefer.

Whosthetabbynow · 18/08/2026 16:42

sharpcook · 18/08/2026 16:41

why?

Because I think a mid heel completes an outfit but my feet are wrecked now.

Anything… jeans, a dress, doesn’t matter. Unless you’re wearing something very formal.

Venusunbroken · 18/08/2026 16:45

Smart trainers, not trainer trainers, if dressed casually, sandals or flat pumps otherwise,

Depends what I’m wearing. Most of the time I’d wear my vivos, but I’d go for some ballet flats if they didn’t go with a particular outfit. Heels aren’t super fashionable at the moment but if you feel good in them then it’s ok, it’s not a taboo or anything.
