Have stayed at an adults only hotel before? Do they tend to be full of gumpy people?

Or have you had a positive experience with it

Well, hotels are like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're going to get...

(But some of them are full of nuts)...

😄

KimWexlersPonyTail · 17/08/2026 11:34

Positive of course, why would they be grumpy people? Your post makes no sense.
I do these places and I am not grumpy.

thenightsky · 17/08/2026 11:35

My last 2 holidays have been Adult Only hotels. I love them.

Pennyplant19 · 17/08/2026 11:36

Why would they be grumpy?

VoltaireMittyDream · 17/08/2026 11:36

Anything for ‘adults only’ gives me swinger vibes. Are swingers grumpy?

AnitaCam · 17/08/2026 11:37

Why would they be grumpy?! What a bizarre question.

Kalimeras · 17/08/2026 11:38

Why on earth would they be grumpy? There’s no kids there, its peaceful, no screaming around the pool, no kids getting underfoot in the restaurants

ScurryfungeSpuddle · 17/08/2026 11:38

God, these pointless threads are getting ridiculous.

Roll on the end of the Summer holidays.

BirdLandedonmyHead · 17/08/2026 11:39

It was quieter.
People seemed relaxed.

thistimelastweek · 17/08/2026 11:40

Maybe just their resting adult faces.

Atschjvkbgj · 17/08/2026 11:41

no kids, no fighting for sunbeds, no ridiculously loud music, no staff trying to persuade you to play games, bliss !!

Bjorkdidit · 17/08/2026 11:42

I don't take much notice of other guests when staying in hotels, unless they're being loud. I don't want to hear their performative enjoyment and never ending conversation from the other side of the pool.

The only recent time I stayed in an adults only hotel, I was there alone and it was very much about relaxing, switching off and not talking to any body.

qiuq · 17/08/2026 11:43

I’m not grumpy but I would bite your hand off for an adults only hotel.

SaraHoliday · 17/08/2026 11:45

I stay at 'Adults Only' hotels quite a lot.

People seem more 'subdued'.

WhatNoRaisins · 17/08/2026 11:46

It depends on what you're hoping from the experience. I've never really gone to a hotel to socialise with people I've not met before so I don't think I'd know or really care how grumpy people were.

parall · 17/08/2026 11:49

Since I hate swimming pools and sunbathing now (I did in a former life though ha ha), I rarely go to big chain hotels unless there's no alternative. Anything advertised as Adults Only would give me pampas grass or keys in the ashtray vibes. 😉 The ideal for me, (older now, no kids) is a family run or boutique hotel with a small number of rooms, no pool and right in the centre of the action. Usually works out great and since there's no pool, there's no kids either! But it would have to have a terrace or garden, that's where you can get a coffee/drink and chat to others if you feel like it. I travel solo a lot more now since DP is mobility restricted and doesn't like warm places anyway. Perfect.

Atschjvkbgj · 17/08/2026 11:50

All the ones we’ve been on tend to be just couples, so no big family groups

earlyshirley · 17/08/2026 11:50

Plenty. They are brilliant. I don’t stay at hotels that aren’t adults only on holiday. No one is grumpy. Far from it! Why on earth would they be?!
Also they aren’t swinger havens!

Last one I stayed at was little studios around a rooftop pool in Greece. Mainly couples of all ages (there were honeymooners, childfree couples, older couples who were ‘getting away from the grandkids’ a couple of best mates away from their kids for a week. So calm and relaxing. Everyone around the pool reading books, sunbathing, chatting quietly. Cocktails on order using a remote button. People in the pool were swimming a few gentle laps. No children shouting, dive bombing, splashing or wining or running about. No ‘animation’ teams, no entertainment, no loud music. No ‘child focused’ food options. It’s mainly about relaxation and not having to ‘socialise’ with fellow guests (shudder)
Fab.

You sound a little bit grumpy here tbh!

BCBird · 17/08/2026 11:51

My first thought about an adults only hotel would be lots of people far more relaxed than if they were looking after childrenSmile

hahabahbag · 17/08/2026 11:52

Hotels vary, guests vary! The adult only holidays I’ve been on have been fun, and adults seemed more relaxed as no pesky kids needing attention but perhaps I chose wisely and looked for places aimed at younger to middle aged I suppose,

That's because I am not on holiday currently

Would love to know where you stayed, sounds perfect.

theemmadilemma · 17/08/2026 11:55

Grumpy? No, I would imagine they are full of massively happy people enjoying their lovely childfree time and possibly lives.

Where the fuck did you get grumpy from?

Goodmorningeveryone26 · 17/08/2026 11:58

This sounds so amazing it’s making me salivate slightly. Compared to my lovely but noisy holidays with primary school aged boys!
