Mine is in Titanic (1997). The immediate aftermath of the ship hitting the iceberg and the reaction to it. I have seen the
film more times than I can count but bit still takes my breath away.

Great Q OP....really made me think...def agree up thread about Some Like it Hot ending, the whole film is genius and so very funny. It's hard (esp with my memory !) and so many films...but I will go with my first thought, which is the final scene in Lost In Translation when the Bill Murray character whispers into Scarlet J's ear when they say goodbye (and he has run after her down a busy Tokyo street to do it) And you never know what he actually says...and I don't think either actor has ever revealed it ! That whisper spawned a whole internet life of it's own 🤣

Gladiator, the 'My name Maximus' scene, so tense and Joaquin Phoenix plays his part so well!

When his ghostly wife and child is approaching him

The Erin Brockovich scene where she quotes the plaintiffs telephone numbers and medical situations to the snotty solicitor!

Agree - plus the later scene when the pompous solicitors can't believe she has got all the signatures needed plus additional evidence and ask how she did it. She replies along the lines of:

"Given I've no brains or legal expertise ... I just went and performed sexual favours. 634 blow jobs in five days ... I'm really quite tired!"

LindorDoubleChoc · 16/08/2026 19:36

The stone henge scene in Spinal Tap.

furrysocks · 16/08/2026 19:37

The Marseillaise scene in Casablanca

TheDucklingShed · 16/08/2026 19:37

In “Independence Day” when the President of the US gives the speech before the planned attack. That scene and speech always gives me goosebumps!

RidiculousDog · 16/08/2026 19:38

The scene in Casablanca where everyone sings the Marseillaise.
And the ballroom dream scene in Labyrinth.
I watch both quite regularly on YouTube!

The Marseillaise scene in Casablanca

Posted at same time!

SockPlant · 16/08/2026 19:41

the scene on the roof in Blade Runner in the rain with Rutger Hauer and the dove

Black Hawk down - the helicopters taking off in the sunrise

Last of the Mohicans when the refugees from the fort get attacked - there is a bit of a slowmo scene when Hawkeye unslings and fires his rifle in one smooth shot

Lord of the Rings, the Two Towers - Aragorn opening the double doors

Stardust - Captain Shakespeare having his private moment in his quarters (and the scene of Michelle Pfeiffer as the witch standing on a cliff with that amazing black outfit on)

Baby Driver walking along with the music in his headphones and the beat fitting perfectly

so many individual scenes

The Library of Congress scene in All the President’s Men - with the camera rising and rising into the dome and the music circling as Woodward and Bernstein go through every library issue ticket for the past year, searching for something they are not even sure is there.

The film is SUCH a load of tosh from a reality point of view but the scene where Kevin Costner/Jon Garrison and John Candy have lunch in JFK. The editing, the costumes, the lighting, the acting, as a piece of filmmaking I adore it.

The Goodfellas ‘chase’ helicopter/coke scene, near the end of the film. I’ve never taken cocaine but I don’t really need to after watching that, I believe I know exactly what it feels like.

AFigureWalks · 16/08/2026 19:49

The end of Donnie Darko where the girl and the mum raise a sorrowful hand in acknowledgement to one another.

powershowerforanhour · 16/08/2026 19:49

The tower scene from In Bruges, to the music of Luke Kelly singing Raglan Road.
"Harry's here".
The end of the film is good too "You've got to stick to your principles".

Good scenes in other McDonagh brothers films:
The Guard - when Brendan Gleeson's character puts on his dress uniform to go and fight the baddies
The Banshees of Inisherin- Colin Farrell's "You used to be nice" pub scene

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 16/08/2026 19:49

My favorite scene is when Lassie rescued a child from an abandoned mine, no wait...
it was when Flipper rescued a child from an upturned boat no wait...
it was when Skippy rescued a child from a rabid dingo, no wait...
it was when Gentle Ben rescued a child from a rather angry moose, no wait...
it was when Nellie the Elephant packed her trunk and said goodbye to the Circus.
Yes that's it.

The “see me now” scene In Bram Stomer’s Dracula. I wish it wasn’t, but it’s my favourite film for nanny reasons (I don’t see it as about love, it’s quite more like madness, but I love that bit so much).

Yes. Love this film and think Gary Oldman should have won an award for it. I always think of it as a love story. Ive seen it about five times.

I also love the first scene with Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the dragon tattoo, where she gives a report on Mikheile Blumfest to her Boss and the Vanger lawyer. That film is a masterpiece. Rooney Mara nails the look and the attitude.

I also love the rotating docking scene in Interstellar.

Gribouille · 16/08/2026 19:52

'PUUTTIIING ON THE RIIIIIITZ!!!!'

And also the scene with the blind hermit in the cottage - the comic timing in that scene is 😙👌...

(I speak, of course, of the whole film-length comedy masterclass that is Young Frankenstein...).

6ate9 · 16/08/2026 19:52

Schindler's List - The girl in the red coat scenes because of what she represents, and the scene where Oskar Schindler said “he didn’t do enough.”

Lesina · 16/08/2026 19:53

Gone with the wind. The as god as my witness speech. As god as my witness, don’t care what I do, if I have to cheat steal kill or lie as god as my witness I’ll never go hungry again

KittyCorncrake · 16/08/2026 19:53

Loving these as haven’t seen most of the movies -just about to watch the Carry Grant one on YouTube /thanks PP😀

The scene in Truly, Madly, Deeply when Nina says "I know this poem". Those four words set me off.

‘ We’ll follow the old man’ White Christmas.

’no Ray - it was you’ Field of Dreams

Emma Thompson bedroom, smoothing the bed down. Love Actually

A very poignant film! Juliet Stevenson Is phenomenal!

LongKim · 16/08/2026 20:03

Tom Hardy flying along the coast at the end of 'Dunkirk' then running out of fuel and setting fire to his spitfire.

ElizabethVonArnim · 16/08/2026 20:03

So many! I’ve answered once upthread, but I also really love the bit in In Bruges where Ralph Fiennes smashes the phone and says ‘You’re a fucking inanimate object’ to his wife and then has to apologise

ThisCraftySeal · 16/08/2026 20:11

The Losers. Now the film is absolutely awful, but it’s my favourite scene in any movie, where one of them is in an office and gets cornered by the security guys

Rox1701D · 16/08/2026 20:11

The scene in Naughty Marietta where Nelson Eddy seems to think that Janette McDonald cannot sing. Then she opens her mouth to sing (beautifully) and it shuts him up in total shock! My Granny loved NE and JM so we used to watch a lot of their films. I often watch this scene on YouTube just because.

Fave scene ever!
