The same sort of petty that thinks children with autism are afforded educational advantages and people on benefits are rolling in money.

Oh now who would that be? 🤔

A Serco employee has been charged with misconduct in public office, over sharing the addresses of the houses of asylum seekers in Thetford, with people who wanted to target those people.

Serco says it is cooperating fully - but can not comment further while the case is active.

Absolutely & gets a custodial sentence the low life.

There's a thread on this. OP thinks the response was harsh and is getting their arse handed to them, but 50/50 in the votes.

More thinking she’s unreasonable now.

In other news there’s someone currently attempting to convince me that 50% of public spending is consumed by pensioners.

Private sector pensions with serco so prob worth peanuts, anyhow.

It’d still hurt, particularly as he’s 62.

A tale in two tweets:

Good sign of things to come hopefully.

Although couldn’t help giggle at the response a few down about the person choosing Farages clothes.

I bet they wouldn’t want to swap places with a disabled person, though, would they? Despite their complaints that the benefits system is too generous to disabled people.

I’m afraid I’m tired of the idea being presented that we’re living the life of Riley.

I'm "just" a carer and I'm certainly bloody tired of it.

BIossomtoes · Yesterday 20:01

You’ve got the hardest job in the world.

itsgettingweird · Yesterday 20:05

I feel positive that the tide is turning.

FB seems to pick up some odd algorhytms for me and I keep getting reform propaganda 🙄

Anyway Farage latest post about people on benefits for over a year having to do community work.

So many responses about politician’s needing to set an example, what did he do for his £5m, he should try turning up to Clacton then and doing hai
job.

And my fave was if there’s jobs for them to dominate the community surely employ them at NMW rather than as a shame exercise to get some benefits.

The system already means people have to send X amount of time “working” or they are sanctioned.

You might be right about the tide @itsgettingweird 😊

The point about paying people NMW for their work is so important. Once we decide its OK to pay people subsistence level for their labour, not only are we rubber stamping exploitation, the wages of all workers will be forced down.

Same here, I’m a carer for my DD1, whilst my DH still works. He’ll be retiring in a few months, though. Certainly no end in sight for us. And yes, I’m definitely tired of it and struggling with MH issues.

I’m really sorry that you’re struggling as well. It’s so tough.

Llttledrummergirl · Yesterday 22:56

I may have posted this previously. Where does making people forcibly work for less than a standard wage get you? Treating people as lesser?

I am not a fan of treating people with disabilities, and those who struggle in the workplace in the same way we treat prisoners, (community service, so unpaid work).

More holiday tax anyway.

While we are talking carers allowance,my relative became old enough to draw their pension, but immediately lost carers allowance. The caring responsibilities haven't stopped, so technically, by getting the same as pensioners without caring responsibilities, they are actually getting less.
I think it's unfair that carers allowance is linked to the pension as they are for two different things.

It’s bad enough carers already work for less than NMW saving the state money

It rained in the night here (just West of London) as well 😊

I realise this is about carers allowance - which is abysmal - and I believe different in Germany, and many other countries we will never copy!

But actual community carers is also below NMW - a sleep in only gets a set amount even like £25 for 11pm to 7am - despite never really being a ‘sleep’ as you do at home - and a court case about being paid NMW for each hour was lost a few years back. In the day they are only paid for the contact hours and not the travel time, except a petrol allowance- alongside split shifts you can be out from 7am to 10pm and get around £90. My ma however paid a capped over £2k per month for 2 hours per day care!

It’s dreadful that all carers are being treated so casually and badly - such a draining and hard job - particularly at home.

My hat is off to those on the thread caring for relatives - I found a fairly short spell of caring for parents nearly broke me - I struggle with hands off care for my daughter - you’re all amazing and deserve much better.

BIossomtoes · Today 08:08

Spot on @MsJinks.

It rained here last night too. The garden is suitably grateful.

itsgettingweird · Today 08:51

Cannot argue with any of that Msjinks

Carers as people are undervalued but emotionally and financially.

I get the rage when people suggest those without jobs get made to work as carers. It just goes to show how undervalued it is as a profession in so many ways.
