I cry most days, I actually find it really therapeutic. I do have bpd so might be that but how normal is this.

I cry all the time, but I come from a culture where crying is a very normal for everyone. There was once a music video of the singer just looking and the camera crying whilst he sang and everyone watching would cry. I used to cry at the gorilla playing the drums in the Cadbury’s advert, I read a lot and cry at a beautiful phrase, at sad things, I cry at films.

I have bereavements and things I have moments over, but overall I can cry seeing a lamb in a field.

May I ask what culture?

That just sounds quite exhausting to me!

So presumably family don’t take you crying seriously at all?

Whereas if I cried…. I think my teens would fall in a heap with worry

I never cry infront of people

I never cry infront of people

Do you live alone?

So you cry daily but no one is aware of you crying. And you’re not crying over anything in RL, just SM and thoughts.

i would say that yes… that is a little unusual!

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 14/08/2026 20:10

“Kitty!” “Boo!” Aww. That’s set me off now x

Not just me then.

SkyBeau · 14/08/2026 20:55

I am happy so it's been many years that i have cried. 😀

weegiemum · 14/08/2026 20:57

Not for a long time.

i used to cry all the time but then my younger brother died very suddenly, he was 45. I couldn’t cry then, and haven’t really cried since. That’s 5 years this year.

SkyBeau · 14/08/2026 21:00

I pay attention to my life, so i do not cry often. 😀

blankcanvas3 · 14/08/2026 21:02

3 or 4 times a week but I would be considered an emotional person. Anything remotely sad will set me off. I cope with life quite well (i think) so I’m not concerned.

That doesn’t make a huge amount of sense

I cry daily, sometimes more. Today it was explaining a section from a Malcolm in the middle episode to my kids that they were watching but not fully grasping. They paused the show as they could tell “mums gonna blub”.
my stepdaughter and sil recently told me and dh that they were expecting and that made me cry with happiness and sil told sd that my reaction was the best 🥰 as it was so emotional. I bloody love a good cry but it can sometimes be embarrassing as silly things can set me off like seeing someone on their own having a coffee as I imagine all sorts of sad scenarios 😭

I need to know what part of Malcom in the middle made you cry?? 😂😂

Seawolves · 14/08/2026 21:07

Probably DH's funeral four years ago. I miss him every second of every day but I still just feel numb.

Do the people who are crying regularly are you mentally ill or just cry a lot/ like a good cry

Mentally ill? What 😂 I cried pretty much every few days for the past 20 years. A mixture of hormones and just being sensitive person. I cry when I see a dog with their puppies or a spider eating a fly. You don’t have to be mentally ill or depressed or even sad to cry. I can cry because there is beautiful tree outside and my coffee tastes so good

SkyBeau · 14/08/2026 21:08

If you practice daily self awareness then you make little or no mistakes. No need to cry. Boundaries are my bff. Boundaries are my everything. I have not cried in years. Serious.

AgualusasL0ver · 14/08/2026 21:08

Not remotely exhausted really. It’s just a natural reaction to things and I’m just not remotely stoic - not that those who cry less are stoic necessarily.

I am Turkish, my dad cries at TV a lot and has since we were kids and he is a big, quite macho man.

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 14/08/2026 21:10

I last cried on 10th November 2015. Before that was January 2001 but I forget the exact day.
In general I don’t believe in crying. It doesn’t help anything.
Far better to crack on as best I can.
Living with stage 4 cancer on my own, and that is only the tip of the iceberg.
What would it achieve to sit sobbing into my pillow?

ClaudettedeBeauvoir · 14/08/2026 21:11

Extremely rarely. I wish I could cry more.

Simonjt · 14/08/2026 21:11

On a very regular basis, the kids made us watch the land before time yesterday, evil sods.

Yope · 14/08/2026 21:13

I never cry and I think it's because I've become numb. Like, so much shit has been thrown at me through my childhood and throughout my adulthood that my trauma response has gone way beyond crying. I'm detached now. You could throw a missile at my head and I'd just stand there silently and take it.
If you're crying daily, at least you're still feeling something. Not numb, like me.

Mammut · 14/08/2026 21:15

Not often enough, and like a pp, not since my younger brother died tragically a few years ago.

SkyBeau · 14/08/2026 21:15

I have been happy 😀 but spiritually ill for the longest 😮‍💨. During this time I stayed at home, my self awareness to stay at home during this time kept me safe, it kept me at home. When i am ill i remain at home and i remain responsible for myself. No need to cry when i am at home like i am supposed to be. I am happy and spiritually well again, time for me to enjoy my vacation at Margate beach.

Cushionseams · 14/08/2026 21:15

Not often, I can go possibly years but definitely months without crying, yet cried yesterday and today over different things.

Do you find people often look at you with a quizzical expression on their face @SkyBeau ?

WasntSupposedToBeLikeThis · 14/08/2026 21:18

Not often anymore. Life has hardened me
