Am i the only one with a 10 year old with a sudden obsession with michael jackson?
I dont even know where this came from, we dont listen to him, so ive no idea how it even come about 😆 but she loves him! All the time shes requesting Alexa to play it or asking me to put it on!

This conflates 2 entirely separate issues.

Comparing the choice to no longer listen to the music of a paedophile with the destruction of pagan art or books is a false equivalence. The suppression and destruction of culture because it was considered ideologically or religiously unacceptable really can’t be compared with choosing not to listen to a pop singer because he was a monstrous pervert.

I think it's more likely to be the film about MJ himself that's got people's attention to him.

My children like the music. Thats all. Do they need to know about the allegations? Not yet, the world is a big place, full off horiffic things that they will see and learn about when they are old enough, right now his music makes them dance around the kitchen and sing at the top of their lungs with huge smiles on their faces, which is a shining light of joy in a dark dark world, ill let them enjoy it and when they are old enough they can read about him and make their own minds up.

If children just like the music and you don’t mind the fact that that a new generation of fans means his legacy will continue to generate income for whoever is entitled to it, and that it maintains an image of him as an icon separate from the all of the controversy, fair enough.
I definitely wouldn’t be encouraging (and would probably actively discourage) my kids from liking his music because CSA aside (and that is a massive, terrible thing to “put aside” which personally I can’t do - just because it was not “proven” that he committed these crimes, it is overwhelmingly likely that he did), he was at best a very strange and not exactly wholesome character.
If there was a new artist out currently that looked and behaved like he did, I guarantee nobody would be happy for their kids to be fans of theirs, even without any allegations
The main problem I see with just ignoring the controversy surrounding him is that kids find things out very quickly these days.
What if they like him so much they want to do a school report or something about him? The least bit of research and they’ll find out all about it. What do you do then? Tell them it may not be true? Then they will think that it’s possible for an adult to hurt a child, the child tells people and they are not believed, it cannot be proven, the adult gets away with it consequence free. No matter how you put it, it’s going to come down to: it’s not been proven, sometimes children lie about these things etc. Not a message I would want to give my kids.
