Fed up of electric toothbrushes breaking. Are there any reliable brands?

We've always used Oral B but they just stop working after a while. I've lost track of how many we've had but we probably have to replace one a year.

Are there any (not too expensive) brands which are more reliable?

I have used an oral B electric toothbrush for years. I have never had one break. I replace the heads regularly. Over time the charge doesn't last as long, so I replace the toothbrush, but they have never broken

Had our basic Oral B ones for about 8 years. I bought new ones last year as they were so manky but they worked fine. Not sure how yours are breaking!

Replace the heads regularly with tesco own brand one. No breakdowns here

I've ben using Oral B for years but the last three I bought all lose their charge really quickly...

The battery was rubbish on our Oral Bs - needed constant charging after a while. We replaced with Suri and the battery last for ages.

Suri are AMAZING but not cheap

I have just replaced my old at least 6 year old basic oral b for a new io model. And I only replaced it as the io was on a decent special and I was having to charge my old one every few days.

By breaking do you mean the battery is going flat? If so are you keeping it in charge permanently.

The oi is rather fancy. Connects to an app and lights up to tell you if you are using too much pressure. And it has a warranty too.

Just checked and the kids are Ordo (thought they were all the same brand) and they have lasted well too

As all rechargeable batteries have a lifespan , any rechargeable toothbrush will eventually stop holding the charge and need charging more regularly … it’s the downside, google says that they should have a lifespan of about 3 years if charging as instructed . I replace mine every few years.

I’ve got oral b’s that must be over 20 years old that I use to scrub round the back of taps, hard to reach places that are still going strong! You must brush with the vigour of a million men!

As an alternative though my in-laws swear by Philips!

I've an ordo that I really like.

I too have used Oral B and had no issues. I’m currently using this one, which is often on offer. The charge lasts a good couple of weeks. The only drawback is that replacement heads are really expensive but Amazon sell compatible ones that are far cheaper.

Another basic oral b user here with no issues. Our current one will need replacing soon - we share it, with different heads - so it has been in action 4x a day for 6+ years.

How are they breaking?
If it is battery not lasting, change your charging patterns. Ours goes on charge when it slows down or flashes to tell us it needs it... and only for the day or night. People often charge them too long and too often... same with phones and gadgets.

I really like my Suri - much better battery life than my old oral B one, and I bought the travel charging case, which is so easy as it has a usb port to charge.

We have oral B and they've never broken. Mine is years old.

I have a suri. It was more expensive to start with but I really like it. Mine had an issue where it stopped charging but if you subscribe to head replacement, it has a lifetime guarantee. They just replaced it with no issues.

I love my Suri which I bought years ago when they first started. They've just released a lower cost one I read a review of it in the Graun

We have Fairywill,they are around £13 Amazon..We have had 2 each in 12 years. Had oral B before.

I have the Philips sonic one and find similar.
