Neighbour in flats asked me not to place my wheelie bin nearby

Am I being un̈reasonable? I live in a flat. A young person has recently moved opposite and I do not like her. We each have our own. Wheelie bin and apparently I place my bin too close to hers so she has asked me not.\nTo put it so close and then she said, it's not her job to move it.So she can get her bin in and out to take it out for the bin. If that was me, I would just move the oven bin along, so I could get my bin in and out, I think she's being totally out of order.

Honestly and kindly, I think you can just nudge yours along a bit more for the time being. She probably doesn’t like touching the bins and just wants to get hers in and out without moving the others. Try it for now, and if she’s still complaining, then you can work something out. If there’s 5 bins- maybe you can add yours to the other end and then someone else’s bin will be next to hers!

PerkyOchrePeer · 13/08/2026 06:28

I believe in helping people out, and when I was unwell to move my bin, not one of my neighbours agreed to help me move my bin. I actually sought that was disgusting. Because if the boot was on the other foot and my neighbour opposite was unwell and couldn't move her bin, I would look at her and I would say, don't worry about it, certainly, I'll take it out and when you feel better, you can go back to checking your own bin out, but that selfish woman didn't want to even help me. What's an utterly selfish bitch 1 day I was coming back with heavy bag of shopping and she said to me, would you like me to help you carry that up the stairs? And I said, no, why would I flaming? Well, want her to help me carry the bag. And yet when it comes to the bin, oh no oh no oo.

Are you taking the piss OP? You dislike her because why? She asked you to be a tiny bit considerate. Just because the previous neighbours didn’t raise it, maybe they thought it, and regardless it doesn’t matter!

jesus

I dislike her because she need picks about every little thing and I had a boss like her once and in the end , I quit the job

Thank god I don’t live anywhere near you! You sound unpleasantly judgemental and deliberately awkward, very unedifying traits.

Before she moved into the flat other people live there, and nobody ever complained if I were, to put my wheelie bin too close to theirs, they would just move it along.. i don't like this girl and I wish she'd never moved here

What happened before doesn’t matter, she wants you to move your bin further along so she doesn’t have to move it. Why would that be a problem for you?

PerkyOchrePeer · 13/08/2026 06:44

To give you another example this neighbour keeps opening the upper landing window and leaving it wide open.\n And before she moved here, nobody bothered to open that window, nobody could care less.

What is this supposed to be an example of? What is wrong with opening the upper landing window? Surely it airs the communal area?

Did you actually say "Why would I flaming well want you to help me carry the bags?" or simila, when she'd offered help with heavy bags?

Have you considered getting a fucking life? Jeez

NameChangeAgain48 · 13/08/2026 07:01

Unfortunately, you live in flats. Part of living in flats is that its not all about you and what you want. She's young, she isnt like your old neighbour. She reminds you of someone else you didn't like. They are all YOU PROBLEMS. She pays her rent just like you. She has a right to live peacefully just like you. She isnt your ex boss. You dont have to like her but shes your equal and its her home. You need go be considerate of each other and also stay in your own lanes.

Rufusisturnedon · 13/08/2026 07:03

wowser.

MickyMoonshine · 13/08/2026 07:04

These are all ‘you’ problems. She’s doing nothing wrong.

You seem fixated on her age which is bizarre.

So you don't like her, that's not the issue (and hard cheese really). You need to move your own bin regardless of what anyone else did or didn't do.

Pancakeflipper · 13/08/2026 07:09

This is not a bin issue.
It is a you issue.

You have expectations of how you want your neighbours to behave. But you dont communicate this decently or reasonably to them. They cannot meet your expectations because they don't know what they are.

Gizlotsmum · 13/08/2026 07:11

I honestly don’t see what she has done wrong apart from not conform to some ‘contract’ you have in your head. You seem to have taken a dislike to her and to be honest if you had refused help with your bags I would assume you wouldn’t want help with your bins. I suspect you will continue to have an issue with her regardless of what she does.

saraclara · 13/08/2026 07:43

if I were, to put my wheelie bin too close to theirs, they would just move it along..

So you inconvenienced your previous neighbours too, but they put up with it. Your new neighbour doesn't have to put up with it.

Anyway, why do you insist on inconveniencing your neighbours when you could just put your bin where they don't have to move it?

Kittylickingplate · 13/08/2026 07:51

So you were rude when she offered to help you with your bags and you wonder why she doesn't help you with your bins? Is that correct?

Baileyss · 13/08/2026 07:53

Gosh. Is this what happens to people when there is nothing left to worry about ?

IzzyGone · 13/08/2026 07:54

TeaFizzy · 12/08/2026 22:09

Her age is completely irrelevant.

If you’re blocking her access with your bin then of course you should move it. It’s not up to her to move your bin.

It is relevant, someone would ask on this thread if the neighbour was old and that description is useful

So she kindly offered to help you carry your heavy shopping bags and you took exception to this? Why? She sounds friendly, asking if you’d like some help. I don’t understand why you don’t like her, what she’s done wrong?

So you dislike your neighbour because she didn’t want to take turns doing the bins, but when she offered to help carrying your shopping you said no?

@PerkyOchrePeer you are being very odd here. I get you don’t like change but your way is not the only and best way, having windows open is good and you should only use your own bin ( you can be held responsible for misuse so you don’t want others loading it up with stuff).

Time to get a grip, it sounds like you who is being the bitch.
