BIL using our bedroom for intimate purposes

We arrived home from holiday last night. BIL has kindly been cat-sitting for us, popping in twice a day, but not sleeping here overnight. This is important.

This afternoon, I've been sorting out a few things in our room. The sun was shining in, and as it hit the mirror I could clearly see strange marks - handprints, quite high up, and what I think is a willy mark at hip height. They are quite noticeable, so I'm sure they weren't here before we went away.

I suspect BIL has been entertaining himself in our bedroom, either alone or with a partner. He's single and the thought of him bringing a hook-up into our bedroom makes me feel ill.

I've changed the sheets (just in case his activities culminated in our bed), but I don't know if I can bear the thought of him cat-sitting for us again if he does this. But DH will think it's strange if we don't have him back, and DCat has never been to a cattery.

Is there a way I can subtley dissuade him from using our home in this way, without offending him?

I've added photos, but they aren't very good because my phone doesn't seem to focus on the mirror surface.

And tripped then put his hands out to steady himself? Maybe the shock made him go limp so that would explain the odd smudging?

Edited

This made me howl 😂

“Hi DBiL, thanks for cat sitting…. By the way, there’s some odd marks on our bedroom mirror, did a pigeon get in and fly into it or anything?”

Did you then try to capture the pigeon under your cock and miss or something?

PrettyPickle · 03/08/2026 19:42

Yup, I am with the others, I would buy him a bottle of booze as a thank you and tell him it was worth every penny now you have seen what was on the cat cam in the bedroom.

Or subtly drop in you forgot to mention the cat cam in the bedroom but didn't bother to message him as he didn't need to go into the bedroom, then add you will enjoy catching up on the cats activities when you fast forward through it later and watch the reaction.

Oh to be a fly on the wall!

What else could it be? It's at the height of my hips

Which one of your images do you think is the willy mark??

Defrostedmariahcarey · 03/08/2026 19:43

Hi BIL
i just saw these hand prints on the mirror and got really freaked out! don’t suppose you know how they got there? I was worried someone has been in the house without us realising!

Coconutter24 · 03/08/2026 19:10

Do you have any sort of cctv on the outside of your house?

So if the cat runs out with it"s tail between the legs you are onto him?

Sixtieslamp · 03/08/2026 19:52

Well it’s surprising the willy mishaps that can happen to some poor unsuspecting guys. My daughter is a nurse and she once had a young man who arrived in A&E with his willy stuck in a Dyson. He was detached from the Dyson by the time he arrived but his poor willy still firmly stuck in the tube!

There was a perfectly simple explanation for this unfortunate mishap. He decided to run the Dyson round his curtains while wearing just a towel. The towel slipped, he tripped on it and fell awkwardly and his willy became trapped in the vacuum tube he was holding. I kid you not. That was his explanation 🤣🤣

SkinnyLatteExtraHotPlease · 03/08/2026 19:54

Jeez, I have so many questions! Ask him directly & please report back ......

VideoVox · 03/08/2026 19:55

It’s all very Turin Shroud.

Willy or won't he tell you the truth...that is the question.....

Limepickleontoast · 03/08/2026 19:18

I'm having visions of Rose in Titanic in the back of that car with the hand print on the steamy window 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just imagine Leo as an extra from Cats to complete the picture.

MotherOfSoManyCats · 03/08/2026 19:58

I'd say that you've had cameras installed so you can keep an eye on your cat and also your home, and that you'll be getting motion alarms on your phones while youre away. Hopefully he won't wipe his willy anywhere if he thinks you're watching!

WhatTheMirrorSaw · 03/08/2026 19:59

DeathBanana · 03/08/2026 18:09

Then you need to say when he gets home “bloody hell brian, there’s a perfect impression of your weener here on the mirror, were you nude when you got the suitcase / cat / your snorkel set down?”

But if I say that and it isn't him, then we've got to have an awkward conversation about who it could be and the only candidate is his brother...

Must have had quite a thick willy to still be stuck?

PhaedraTwo · 03/08/2026 19:59

OP, seriously there's no harm done. Our cats hated being in a cattery. The cat knows him. I wouldn't upset the cat over this.

WhatTheMirrorSaw · 03/08/2026 20:00

Whosthetabbynow · 03/08/2026 18:14

Could it be from the cat’s wet nose?

No, too high up

OP posts:
Whosthetabbynow · 03/08/2026 20:00

I think I might be tempted to dress it up as “did you polish the bedroom mirror? There are some smudges on it”

Agapornis · 03/08/2026 20:01

You could get a pet cam (or two) to keep an eye on your cat's favourite sleeping place.

Or pay a catsitter. Definitely a happier alternative to a cattery (but I would say that, as I am a catsitter).

Maybe the Invisible Man has been poking around?

dontmalbeconme · 03/08/2026 18:17

The simple solution is to stop asking him to do you massive favours, if what he does in your house is unacceptable to you.

I think this would be unacceptable to most people!

Tell him you have a camera hidden in your room and ask him if there is anything he'd like to tell you before you view the footage Grin

has your husband asked his brother yet ?

It was so badly swollen and turning blue he had no choice but to seek help.

WhatTheMirrorSaw · 03/08/2026 20:01

I think this would be unacceptable to most people!

But you don't know he did it yet!

It sounds so bizarre - I'm still intrigued to know why you think this of your BIL rather than any rational explanation.
Because he's single?
