BIL using our bedroom for intimate purposes

We arrived home from holiday last night. BIL has kindly been cat-sitting for us, popping in twice a day, but not sleeping here overnight. This is important.

This afternoon, I've been sorting out a few things in our room. The sun was shining in, and as it hit the mirror I could clearly see strange marks - handprints, quite high up, and what I think is a willy mark at hip height. They are quite noticeable, so I'm sure they weren't here before we went away.

I suspect BIL has been entertaining himself in our bedroom, either alone or with a partner. He's single and the thought of him bringing a hook-up into our bedroom makes me feel ill.

I've changed the sheets (just in case his activities culminated in our bed), but I don't know if I can bear the thought of him cat-sitting for us again if he does this. But DH will think it's strange if we don't have him back, and DCat has never been to a cattery.

Is there a way I can subtley dissuade him from using our home in this way, without offending him?

I've added photos, but they aren't very good because my phone doesn't seem to focus on the mirror surface.

I have no idea what he was doing. OP needs a forensic team for that

It was meant to be tongue in cheek. hence the mention of the cat.

But OP should probably ask him one way or another why he was in her bedroom.

I genuinely misread 'forensic' as 'foreskin' (spelled slightly wrongly) there. Goodness, is there a specialist team for every eventuality?!!

My heart breaks for the cat. It may have looked directly into the abyss of human behaviour and may never purr again.

Get a couple of cheap pet-cams and put them in various rooms. Tell him theyre on all the time as you like to check how the cat is when you're away.....

What else could it be? It's at the height of my hips

Not HIS willy.

McrWife · 03/08/2026 21:52

It could be the cat’s willy.

Or your cat has had it’s way with your BIL. Is he ok?

2O26 · 03/08/2026 21:52

The cat didn't ask to be an accomplice to this madness! It approached for a wholesome scratch, only to stumble upon an absolute abomination. There shall be no more purrs—only eternal, piercing judgment.

Funnily enough, I don't think he will think it's strange if you don't have him back. He'll know why.

ILs rarely understand subtle communication so I'd communicate through behaviour and not ask him again.

Christ you sound like you have the same kind of in-laws as mine. They don’t even make me mad anymore it’s the eye rubbing kind of mad.

Now you mention it, it's pointing down I think, so in a floppy state! That actually makes me feel better!

OMG this thread has made me laugh 🤣🤣🤣.

Can't wait for the updates 😁

Penis in a beaker; penis on the mirror.

I look forward to the third iteration.

Pieceofpurplesky · 03/08/2026 22:09

Is this your cat?

Snowcanwait · 03/08/2026 22:12

I don’t really get how you could think that is a Willy mark!

The photograph shows a Willy from a side on angle. If you stand hip against the mirror the Willy would not be touching the mirror and if you stood facing the mirror it wouldn’t give that imprint.

so you’d sort of have to be pressed against the mirror fully but with the Willy pushed to the side, I mean it seems really implausible and I think it’s more likely just to look like a Willy but not be one.

But he might not have been in the bedroom at all - it's probably just her oddly fertile imagination...
Ps I didn't get you were tongue in cheek, sorry

Ellebelle01 · 03/08/2026 22:17

I doubt it’s a willy mark, never seen a willy mark on a mirror. This is hilarious sorry 🤣🤣🤣 you should deffo let him know that you’ve seen his willy mark

cloudtreecarpet · 03/08/2026 22:19

CypressGrove · 03/08/2026 21:07

Aren't the marks more likely to be from the cleaner and left over cleaning product she didn't clean off - sometimes these can be hard to see when still wet , depending on the light when cleaning.

Oh no, don't come to the OP with an actual logical explanation!!

She prefers to be imagining her BIL squashed up against the mirror, covered in lube, leaving an anatomically impossible imprint of his willy.

Tryanalogue · 03/08/2026 22:21

This is not a man I would leave in charge of the cat.

Charlize43 · 03/08/2026 22:23

Could it have been a gay orgy? One of those flash things that goes viral and 74 gay men might have turned up for an orgy in your bedroom, with one of them being pressed up against the mirror due to massive overcrowding.

How do you know it is your BIL's willy? Have you measured it?

shellyleppard · 03/08/2026 22:26

@Charlize43 my mind is boggling 😂😂😂

flippertygibbet4 · 03/08/2026 22:29

This is the funniest AIBU I've ever read 😂😂😂😂😂 A willy mark 😂 😆

MargoLeadbetterisQueen · 03/08/2026 22:29

I think the cat had it's friends round when you were away. One of the games was leaping up against the mirror, holding hot dogs.

Just ask DH, if it wasn't him , ask His brother.
Simple really

‘Hi Brian, I was just wondering, while you were over feeding our cat, did you rub your naked willy on our bedroom mirror?’

"Ah, yes Joyce, now I am glad you have asked me about that. It's actually quite a funny story..."

HRHCurmudgeon · 03/08/2026 19:14

But … but… you say you think he was alone? So how would he be having some Alone Time with both hands on the mirror?

I am SO confused.

That's a very good point...if he was having some solo fun, there would only be one hand print on the mirror.

Unless he uses both hands interchangeably, so the propping-up hand doesn't get tired?

Or unless he did in fact have company, which is a horrifying prospect.

"You see, the cat and me were playing 'catch the hotdog ' and he was winning. Sorry about the hand print. The weird stains in the kitchen are a whole other story, Joyce. Sorry"
