Was This outfit of Kate Middleton was a Hit or Miss?

This is From BAFTA 2020 awards....I'm always confused about this outfit, So what's your thoughts?

The fabric is beautiful but the neckline / bodice part seems wrong for the rest of the dress.

I like it. Admittedly you can't wear that to Sainsburys; but for Kate at the BAFTA Awards - it was a hit. Its good to see her wear something a bit different. She's a classic beauty.

Too much going on for my taste. I like the fabric but I think the combo of boxy sleeves, bodice and line down the front is a bit Project Runway. The designer should have chosen one imo

The shape isn’t right for her & the white boob bit looks odd

It’s for a young Regency-era woman on her way to a ball. It just didn’t suit her but I understand why she liked it.

Why do we still as (mostly) women have to critique if something suits someone or not. If she or any other person wants to wear it then let her bloody wear it!

Yes change the sleeves to puffed ones and she could have been a Bennet sister excitedly arriving for the ball at Netherfield. I don't see her as a Lydia so her undergarments won't be set alight at the sight of the young men in their regimentals. I feel she'd be a Jane Bennet tbh.

She’s not called Kate Middleton. That wasn’t her name 6 years ago and it isn’t now. The dress is lovely.

I think my favourite outfit of hers was the white and navy for the trooping of the colour I think in 2025.
She looked absolutely on point.

It's evening wear, some of her evening wear, especially worn to banquets, is stunning. The day wear is different.

I think it's really pretty and makes a change from her usual style. To me it's giving slightly Indian/sari sort of vibes.

Don't you like to dress up for Sainsbury's? If it's good enough for the BAFTAs...
