For clarification, her husband’s title is HRH the Prince of Wales or Prince William.

Her title is HRH The Princess of Wales or Catherine, Princess of Wales.

Of course they are also Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, Rothesay, as well as Earl and Countess of Strathearn and
Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus, to name but a few titles.

MrsKeats · 03/08/2026 12:36

Can you pls use her correct name.

I think it’s too difficult for people 🙄 But I have noticed that when people pull apart someone’s outfit from several years ago, the incorrect name is often used.

See my post at 12:34.

Google is also quite informative 😬

Not "Catherine, Princess of Wales" because she's not divorced.
She's the Princess of Wales. That's her title.

Im not interested in her title though or Williams?

Strangely enough Google knows who Kate Middleton is….

So what's wrong with calling her Kate Middleton? It's becomes hate just by calling her her name?

Absolutely nothing. Google Kate Middleton and you get articles from 1 day ago with the name Kate Middleton right there.

Reminds me of the episode of Come Fly with Me where Princess Anne was going to be flying and her lady's maid and the air stewardess kept referring to her as "Princess Anne the Princess Royal" every time they mentioned her, while discussing the fruit salard she'd like.

HoldMyWine · 03/08/2026 13:39

Is that you Meghan?

LondonLass2026 · 03/08/2026 13:53

I've actually got a Pinterest board dedicated to her clothes. She always looks great.

This outfit is extremely Asian inspired. I wore an almost identical outfit to an Asian wedding some years ago.

That someone can actually type this out without doing a full-body cringe about having a monarchy in 2026 is fascinating to me.

Meredusoleil · 03/08/2026 14:01

Nrtft but I love it! I think it's like a fusion of East meets West personally 🤔

orangehandles · 03/08/2026 14:31

So many dimwits, so little time.

Just call the woman by her actual name - and who gives a toss what anyone thinks about a dress someone wore six sodding years ago? If your brain is so utterly filled with that level of style trivia, you have bigger issues to worry about.

RedToothBrush · 03/08/2026 14:37

It's a nice dress. Absolutely nothing wrong with the dress.

It's just a shame it strikes me that she borrowed it from Camilla who would look great in it as her colouring is so much better suited to it.

Good dress. Wrong person.

I think Cami has front zips on most of her frocks these days which might not work with that fabric. Can't agree that she would wear it better than Kate, plus her bosom in that frock...the wench angle has already been mooted.

You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself!

BasiliskStare · 03/08/2026 14:55

@OP . She originally wore that dress in Malaysia on a tour of the far east and for this wearing at the Baftas had the sleeves lined. The Bafta people specifically asked for "sustainability" so recycled ( or wearing it again as I would say 😊 ) or eco friendly.

I'm not sure what's confusing. It's a bit glittering (so suitable ) for a red carpet event , reworn as requested . Whether you like it or not , different matter.

(Where do people get that shrug emoji from out of interest. )

edited for sense

Can you please type out 'please' properly, like functioning adult?

This is a Mumsnet thread about a six-year-old dress, not a formal invitation to an embassy ball. People can call her Princess Privileged of Undeserving if they want. And frankly, probably should.

EverMissWicklowSometimes · 02/08/2026 16:42

There's always one. 🙄

One who refers to people by their correct name or title? I'm not seeing the issue?

TheKindnessProject · 03/08/2026 16:15

I really like that. It's got a medieval vibe. Strangely enough though, I'm not a fan of a royal wearing it. It gives a real vibe of royalty (I'm aware I'm making no sense) and I prefer royals to act like extremely well remunerated public servants

Whether there is a monarchy or not is not down to me. I wasn’t the one who started the thread.

I personally think it’s cringeworthy for grown women to be debating a dress someone wore six years ago for no apparent reason.

But you do you and all that…

quantumbutterfly · 03/08/2026 17:30

More of a chat (as per the board) than a debate I think, unless we're all supposed to pick a side.
