What is the worst place you have ever visited?

I saw a thread on instagram about this and found it really interesting and wanted to hear more. What is the worst place you have visited and why?

worst bit is the first time I visited it was terrible and shit & I vowed not to go back again.

Then I was staying not so far away & took a trip, just driving trying to find a parking space had me remembering how awful it was.

what you are describing is the red light district which I totally agree is grim. But get away from there and Amsterdam is beautiful, green and very clean.

I love the way that Delhi doesn't even get a capital D!.

Same for me. Went with my friend when we were about 22.

The constant harassment, stalking heckles in the street were horrific. We were 2 weeks all inclusive - we left the hotel twice and never again. Rest of the holiday was in the hotel - pool by day and bed by about 9pm because even at the evening entertainment we were getting harassed...

I've been to Liverpool and it was alright for a weekend break. Admittedly never stepped foot outside the city centre but boy did the city dine out off The Beatles big time. Looking at Hull on Google earth 😁 it looks fairly similar to Liverpool.

Hayling Island. It’s the most horrible, run down, depressing place I’ve ever been to.
A few of the other places mentioned on the thread I either like or don’t mind.

Las Vegas - surreal and not in a good way. I got ill there - I think the static electricity off the gaming machines and the 24/7 artificialness of everything was the cause. I couldn’t wait to leave.

It is, it's lovely to walk by the canals and go to the art galleries. The Van Gogh gallery is amazing.

I'm in Minorca now. It's stunning

It really is lovely, just not really the place to go out getting hammered or find amusements which is a bonus for me lol.

What do you hate about Leeds?

The monkey temple in Kathmandu, Nepal - it was horrific. There were two funeral pyres happening while we were there, screeching monkeys flying all over the place, skinny cows wandering about peeing in the water and we kept getting stopped by a man who had a child with him who had open wounds all over her face - he kept demanding we give him money. It honestly felt like Hell.

Fab Museums

Just makes me depressed, it’s grey and miserable and the accent makes my eye twitch- that last part might just be me though 😅.

I have never once been happy to be in Leeds.

Mansfield, Sutton in Ashfield, Kirkby in Ashfield, it's like travelling back to the 70's and not in a good way. Grimly depressing, very run down and flags a plenty.

Well, I live Amsterdam, also Athens, Menorca, Marrakech, Delhi.... what is the matter with people? Do you want everywhere to be completely bland?

Luton Airport. The level of security was unnerving in the extreme. I have never before (or since) seen so many armed police officers standing ready and waiting.

Paris.
The only place I didn't feel safe in, even in daytime.

Slough town centre - grim as fuck

Yet it’s known as one of the friendliest cities in the U.K.!
Yes, there are run down areas just like everywhere else, but it’s a great city - can you tell I was born and live in Hull!

No, it really isn’t, I didn’t spend all my time in the red light district 😬 this was coming out of the station and walking pretty much anywhere. Don’t remember much greenery at all unfortunately and this was only a couple of weeks ago.
