Does anyone have a little boy who wants to be "a daddy"?

I'm curious. I've got a DD7 and being "a mummy" has been her most stated ambition since she's been old enough to state one. All other ambitions are like "I want to be an artist, and a mummy". I have a DS now who's too young to talk and I'm wondering if he'll ever say he wants to be a daddy or whether that's very uncommon!

Yes, they do. Often discuss with each other how many children they will have and the things they will do with them and the places they will take them to. It is lovely to hear.

My son’s wife is going to have 10 kids apparently. He’s 6 so I just responded poor woman

Yep. My four year old is very upset that he can't have a baby with me when he's a daddy 😂

Yes, DS said this for years when asked what he wanted to be when he grew up.

Yes, and still says it at eleven.

When he was about 7 he was slightly less keen as he thought if he had a baby with a wife he would have to do all the cleaning and looking after the baby, but if he had a baby with a husband they would share the cleaning which would make it easier so he would still have time to play 🤣

Yes my 6 year old son frequently says when he grows up he’s going to be a chemist, a magician and a Daddy. He wants to name his two boys David and Michael.

My DS has always said (since he was about 4) he would like to have a wife and children one day.

He's also going to be a famous goalkeeper and have a six pack 🤣

No, my ds17 is adamant he doesn't want children. Has said the same since he was at primary school.

I have one son (12) who says he wants kids and has done consistently since he was about 5. And my other son (9) has consistently said the opposite. It’ll be interesting to see if it bears out when they’re older!

Mine has started saying how things will be when we are grandparents and have to look after his baby. Basically he,as the daddy, will give us rules, and as grandparents we get to ignore them.
I wonder where he got that from...

Yes, my 5 year old is very annoyed that he doesn't have a little sister and says he can't wait to be a daddy with 10 daughters.

His little brother is currently angry that he can't be a mummy when he grows up.

I don't believe in gendering children's toys so they have both had access to dolls since they were tiny though.

Yep, my DS talked about when he was going to be a daddy when he was little. DD showed no inclination whatsoever to be a mummy!

My eldest son is 20 and he can’t wait to be a dad. He’s always been a lovely caring boy and I know he’ll be a great dad - though obviously he and we don’t want that quite yet!

When my now teen was about 3 or 4 (preschool just before starting reception), he told me he was going to be a daddy when he grew up. He was going to marry Emma-who-bites (who had stopped biting by then but was known as “Emma-who-bites” for another 2 years or so), they would live in a campervan on our drive. They would both have jobs in London. She would do meetings, he would work at the same bank as his daddy so they could have lunches together and I’d look after the babies.

My 5 year old is engaged and often talks about when they will have their own house and how he’ll be the daddy and she’ll be the mummy.

I’m just not sure if she still sees them as engaged! Five year olds do change their minds very quickly…

Yes my son is a teenager who loves kids and very much wants to be a dad. And my grandson also put that as his “when I grow up” plan at school..: bless

My DS doesn’t want to live with any humans, only animals. DD wants to live alone apart from one adopted daughter. Trying not to take it personally 🤣

When he leaves school, my son wants to be a full time ninja. 🥷
That’s his only ambition right now.

This is my 10 year old boy! He has 3 little brothers but is desperate for a baby sister. He wants me to have another 🤣

Mine all talk about being dads one day & how many children they will have. It’s very cute.

Not the same, but it reminded me of when DD1 decided she was going to be a flying vet (international) but with 4 kids. Her husband will apparently stay at home and before they have kids, she will get him a dog so he’s not lonely when she’s working away.

My two sons are quite confident they don’t want children. They said that me and their dad look tired all the time and they don’t want lives like that 🤣🤣

My sons are now 12 and 9, one has said consistently since he was 2ish that he is going to be a daddy, and will often comment on things he’ll do with his kids in future, talks about choosing a career that will fit around his kids, talks about what type of house his future kids will want to live in etc. The other has always been adamant that he will never want kids!

So we’ll see what happens in future, but yes certainly some little boys do plan to be a daddy in the same way some little girls talk about wanting to be a mummy.
