Did you not read any of the comments from the home secretary about not speculating, particularly on social media? Online speculation can actually hinder a murder investigation.

This. Mnhq should zap this and the other thread, which is a complete bunfight as well as full of speculation.

I know what you're saying but I think a spotlight should be shone on them,

I would then like to see a spotlight shone on the police response to them.

Let's bring it into the light and see how it works, see where we are.

I agree, daylight is better than burying them. I hope these messages go viral and Herbert's disgusting tweet follows him around for the rest of his life. He doesn't deserve for it to be forgotten.

Seems like she fell and died from a head injury. But of course the Daily Mail exaggerate the "police investigating a murder" because obviously the police have to rule that out.

The Police have already released details of a suspect so that's looking increasingly doubtful.

And that community is?

Come on, who are you pinning this one on?

SerafinasGoose · 10/07/2026 17:26

This woman had guts, intelligence and the courage of her convictions. All are qualities I admire. She could debate robustly with those who disagreed with her, without trying to stymie or stifle their opinions. I respect genuine religious conviction - on which a lot of her views were predicated - albeit I don't share that political or spirtual worldview.

I'd take a hundred Ann Widdecombes over one cardboard cutout 'royal'. This was a woman of substance, the kind this country sorely needs. Nor do I care in the circumstances what her views were. Nobody, nobody deserves this - nor do they deserve the kind of ridicule she got in life, to which she responded with such grace.

I'm sorry about her death irrespective of the other awful details now unfolding.

EnquiringMindsWantToKnow · 10/07/2026 17:28

@JustSawJohnny yes thanks. A lot has happened in the last 2 hours.

Catterbat · 10/07/2026 17:02

So what exactly are you saying? It’s a white male ‘loony leftie’? Or an albino Muslim? Or a chiropractor? What are you even on about?

You do realise there are white Muslims do you not?

Ovoemconserva · 10/07/2026 17:35

Personally I wouldn't give the woman time of day I disliked her however I would much rather her have retired off to her cottage and lived a retirement not killed

GoodHonest · 10/07/2026 17:39

I think a similar thing happened here, as to what happened to Charlie Kirk. Just my thoughts.

Note: I disagree with a lot of Kirk and Widdicombe's views.

That Peter Tatchall message is an absolute disgrace. How dare he.

I took a screenshot the message and the first few replies below it.

The Socialist Worker have at very least deleted their article titled 'Hurrah'

I don't think this thread needs to go. It would affect a trial if people were mentioning a particular perpetrator. If someone is named and people start writing about his background etc that is different. But currently we don't know anything like that.

(which is another reason why suspects should not be named - innocent until proven guilty - and avoids online speculation).

GisGasGus · 10/07/2026 17:41

An interviewee on Sky had just said it seems it was someone known to her, maybe he shouldn't have said that but it will be very interesting when the press conference starts

You must mean the (alleged) criminal community.

Personally, I think the advice not to speculate in such situations is ridiculous because most people have opinions and ideas of course. But claiming you have some kind of special insight puts you on a par with fake psychics.

I couldn't abide Ann Widdecombe or her opinions, but no one deserves to die violently. So I will just say RIP, which is probably the nicest thing I've ever said about her. If her death is in any way political it's part of a very sinister trend developing in this country.

Yep.

Tatchell and co are vile. Would they expect a devout Muslim to support gay marriage? Then why a Catholic?

Tatchell is a paedophile and hebophile apologiser. I wouldn't waste a second reading a word he says.

Everyone should support gay marriage, or how most people refer to it these days - marriage.

EnquiringMindsWantToKnow · 10/07/2026 17:46

@Tonissister what is a hebophile? scared to google

romatheroamer · 10/07/2026 17:47

When I heard she'd died, I assumed it was from natural causes. Isn't this gap between that announcement and the announcement of a murder investigation rather unusual?

Spidey66 · 10/07/2026 17:48

Police have a 26 year old man in custody

GisGasGus · 10/07/2026 17:48

A 26 year old, already arrested , not terrorism

A suspect has been named.

HowManyHints · 10/07/2026 17:49

What is a British National? Is it different to British?

FritataPatate · 10/07/2026 17:50

A man has been arrested.

A suspect has been named.

Where is that?
