What's your takeaway curry order?

Random for a Tuesday, but takeaway curry it is, for me and himself.
Chicken biryani to share, palak aloo, salmon tikka, chapattis and poppadoms with raita.
Can't bloomin wait. Cold beers are in the fridge.
What would your order be?

Depends which takeaway we use. One is chicken dopiaza and mushroom rice. The other is chicken makhanwala (spelling?)

I get a couple of poppadoms as well.

Don't bother with starters as they're not good value so one of us heats up some Tesco starters while the other gets the food.

ImPamDoove · 07/07/2026 18:56

Chicken nawabi, black lentil makhani, chicken achari, naan.

AgnesX · 07/07/2026 19:05

Don't really bother with starters but sometimes we'll share a prawn poori. The go-to is mixed grill for 2, curry sauce, dhaal, naan, rice, popps. Whether we get raita, mango chutney etc depends on if we have some in the fridge already.

That usually does two nights - the dhaal broods away in the freezer and comes out boxing the next time.

Poppadoms with all the bits, onion bhajis, chicken shashlik with bhuna sauce, garlic naan. Love an Indian you get leftovers the next day too!

AnyDayNowChuckJacksonNSoul · 07/07/2026 19:12

Chicken jalfrezi +nan
I'm the only curry lover in our house.

PenelopeJoanSterling · 07/07/2026 19:13

not sure im usually a mix on curries not to spicy but i like rice and meat with it, and i do like the different breads

PrimeSeason · 07/07/2026 19:15

One poppadum with the dips/ chutneys

Chicken shashlik
Saag bhaji

My husband orders
Onion bhajis
Some sort of medium lamb curry
Pilau rice - I pinch a spoonful

BeMellowAquaSquid · 07/07/2026 19:17

Chicken tikka main with a masala sauce on the side
bombay aloo
mushroom baaji
onion rice
peshwari naan.

i urge everyone to try mushroom baaji and onion rice as I used to do it the other way round but this way hits different!

SquigglePigs · 07/07/2026 19:19

We have a couple of approaches.

Sometimes we go for a tandoori meat platter or a chicken shashlick and a veggie curry (dopiaza, bhuna, balti) with naan and chapati.

Or we go for a couple of curries from these (mixing chicken/lamb/paneer) - a chicken tikka karahi, lamb bhuna, mixed balti, saag paneer, a bhuna etc. With rice and naan.

Or a mixed meat biryani, veggie curry and naan/chapatti.

Will usually get some onion bhajis or samosas too. Always poppadums! I could eat those onions til they come out of my ears!!

Middlemarch123 · 07/07/2026 19:20

Lamb Bhuna
Prawn Bhuna
Chicken Bhuna
Mushroom rice
Keema naan
Nine poppadoms
Saag Aloo

LimestonePavement · 07/07/2026 19:22

Palaak paneer or a Mysore dhosa.

ImWearingPantaloons · 07/07/2026 19:22

Chicken madras, mushroom rice, peshwari naan, saag aloo, mushroom bhaji.

Therewerelionsonce · 07/07/2026 19:23

Onion bhajis starter.
Tandoori mixed grill.
Pilau rice.

hahabahbag · 07/07/2026 19:23

Depends where, the good one we always eat in as the special seabass can’t be ordered out, anyway it’s 10 mins walk away. The other one a biryani maybe though always disappointed as my homemade curries are better tbh

YouBelongWithMe · 07/07/2026 19:24

Oh GOD I want an indian takeaway now. My kitchen is overrun with teens eating pizza and playing board games. I may suggest one to my DH right now...

Mixed grill kebab meat / veg pakora for starters

Lamb bhuna
Mango chicken
Some kind of passanda

Pilau rice

Poppadoms and asortments

SpottyAlpaca · 07/07/2026 19:27

It varies according to what I fancy, but I usually go for Gujarati food & order something along the lines of a masala dosa, chilli paneer & saag aloo.

Fgfgfg · 07/07/2026 19:28

Last one I ordered was
Keema and mushroom
Prawn Dhansak
Lamb chops
Channa aloo
Balti okra
Kulcha naan
Chapattis
Masala chips
Poppadoms were free

Madcats · 07/07/2026 19:29

What, no fish curry (or a fish bhuna, at a push)?

HippyChickMama · 07/07/2026 19:29

Middlemarch123 · 07/07/2026 19:20

Lamb Bhuna
Prawn Bhuna
Chicken Bhuna
Mushroom rice
Keema naan
Nine poppadoms
Saag Aloo

Do you eat that all yourself, or put it in the middle and just…?
What if someone starts eyeing up your bhunas? 😂

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 07/07/2026 19:31

We share a king prawn jalfrezi, lamb bhuna with extra chilli, mushroom rice, chapatti, saag bhaji, and sometimes an onion bhaji, but usually poppadoms and sauces instead

What?!! Supermarket Indian starters are awful. Proper Indian starters, for me, are better than the mains!

I was going to say I’ll have a jam dhani hash if they have it.
