I would never vote Reform but I admire what he has done by resigning and forcing a by-election. Good for him. Can't imagine any other politicians having the bollocks or putting the control to the 'people' enough to do this.

Brilliant use of time and money. Exactly the way to serve and to lead.

Well, apart from the MPs who have already done this. David Davis springs to mind for one.

That was a very long time ago. I am talking about our current batch of politicians, obvs.

He didn’t have much choice, to be fair. Farage is like a rat up a drain pipe. He’s fucking off because the police are closing in.

Why don't the Tories put up Boris, just for a laugh?

Vaxtable · Yesterday 14:32

GoodkneeBadKnee · Yesterday 14:30

How?

Because if he gets voted back in by the people then that’s his mandate. He is resigning to make a point against the establishment He gets back in that point is made

Oh that would be hilarious!

"The most physically and verbally attacked politician"? Tell that to the families of Jo Cox and David Amess.

Dickhead.

Scum. He didn't mention them but he mentioned Charlie Kirk.

@LizzieSiddal

"If parliament is dissolved or the member otherwise ceases to be a member while an investigation is in progress, the commissioner will suspend their investigation until the member is re-elected. If the member is not returned to parliament, the commissioner will decide if it is appropriate and proportionate to resume their investigation."

Thank you!

Boris Johnson resigned didn’t he, just before the report into his lying.

He could have just resigned. That was a choice.

WTAF - the media should run with that

No, they shouldn't. There is no such rule.

LizzieSiddal · Yesterday 14:34

His constituency has always been Tory.

We need to find a nice Tory who everyone likes 🤔

JoshLymanSwagger · Yesterday 14:34

RafaistheKingofClay · Yesterday 14:27

Oh no he isn’t.

This could go hilariously wrong. Although at least the Clacton electorate will get to see him.

Yeah, but they've seen him before and still been sucked in.

TheRestIsEntertsinent · Yesterday 14:35

That was a very long time ago. I am talking about our current batch of politicians, obvs. It was during the coalition and Davis is still a sitting MP. We can agree to disagree on the definition of "current batch of politicians" though.

mumumental · Yesterday 14:35

What a wind bag Farage is. Endless and self justifying speech. Ah well, attack first a get ahead and all that!

He's playing a risky game. I doubt (hope)he doesn't get voted back in. 😕

In my headcanon the announcement was Farage & Johnson's plans to marry.

It’s risky though because he’s a shit MP and the other parties can throw everything at contesting

But he already has a mandate. Why would he give it up and go through another election just to receive the same mandate, except we all know he’s lying about being bought to the tune of £5m now.

TheRestIsEntertsinent · Yesterday 14:36

The Left and Progressive parties should stand back, say, "we're not engaging in this farce".

MargoLivebetter · Yesterday 14:36

Well the good folks of Clacton are in for a treat. They are about to see their local MP now he has resigned and is campaigning again.

What an absolute glory show. He doesn't give a toss about anyone other than himself.

RafaistheKingofClay · Yesterday 14:36

Holding an election while trying to avoid a hostile media is going to be a change for him.

The one thing that did seem to be coming clear was that these stories were starting to hit home with his personal popularity. And Musk could switch sides but he’s far more pro Lowe than Farage these days.

Can Rory Stewart be rehydrated?

sittingonabeach · Yesterday 14:38

Wouldn't it be funny if Reform chose another person to stand for the by-election
