Vibration plate - what benefits have you noticed?

Lugol · Today 06:44

My Mum has lipodema and wanted a vibration plate so I bought one for her and then one for myself.
I've used it a couple of times so far.
If you have one and you've been using it a while what benefits have you noticed?

Is this just going to be one of those things in the corner gathering dust or are there tangible benefits to it?

I use one at the gym after a workout, supposed to help muscle recovery.
My mum has one to help with her balance post stroke.
I’m a bit bemused that you bought one without knowing why you got it 😂

Oh I love a gadget or two 😂

I have problems with my lymphatic system and I'd read they were supposed to be good for that, moving lymph etc.

But I'm always a bit sceptical of the claims these sorts of things make so I wanted to see what people's lived experience was and if they really do anything.

Does your Mum find it helps?

Intrigued?

What has helped?

I bought one to help strengthen my legs after several months of illness that meant I had to either sit or lie down for long periods.
After a couple of days of use, I couldn’t stop weeing and I’m sure it was some sort of ‘drainage’ going on! After two months, my legs are already stronger and the cellulite in my thighs has reduced (I’m not imagining it - my husband agrees). Also, I’ve had an issue with tension in my neck for years and that seems to have eased as well so feel quite positive about it over all.
That being said, I’m sure results are different for everyone and suggest anyone considering purchasing to do their research as there are warnings about using if you have certain medical conditions.

I bought one because I had read that it helps prevent loose skin after rapid weight loss.
I used it daily for about a year after weight loss surgery and have hardly any loose skin considering I lost over 9 stone.

Which ones are people buying? I know astronauts use them to help restore bone loss (or reduce the damage) but know they'll be NASA standard rather than Argos.

It helps with lipodema but you have to be consistent with it and not expect miracles straight away. It’s also usual to get a bit itchy when you use it because it causes a temporary release of histamine.

That's one reason I'm sorely tempted! Can I ask which one you got? I'm not sure I can justify a Power Plate, but the cheaper ones apparently don't use the same technology and I'm not sure they'll be as effective.

Gosh, these sound good, although I wish I’d done it at the start of my weight loss journey 😬
I’m like a melted candle now 🤣
Do you just stand on it and let it do its thing? Apologies for my ignorance.

I got this one: https://amzn.eu/d/04c0f0aw
although I paid quite a bit more for it!

Thanks - that's certainly a bit more affordable than a Power Plate!

You can just stand on it, but you can also tone other areas like your arms if you rest them on the plate.

I have one. I used it about 5 times before getting bored. But I am about to start weight loss injections and I hope to lose a few stones, so I will be getting back into the habit of using it every day. I hope it will help with the skin tone.

What kind of exercises do you do JoanofGaunt?

This sort of thing.

Core Vibration Plate Exercises
1. Static Squats
How: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, toes pointed slightly outward. Push your hips back and lower into a squat as if sitting in a chair.
Why: Engages quads, glutes, and hamstrings while forcing your core to stabilize against the vibration.
2. Forearm Plank
How: Place your forearms on the vibration plate, keeping your body in a straight line from head to heels. Engage your core and hold for 30-60 seconds.
Why: Amplifies the intensity of a traditional plank, challenging your abdominal wall and shoulder stabilizers.
3. Calf Raises
How: Stand with the balls of your feet on the plate. Slowly rise onto your toes, hold for two seconds, and lower your heels.
Why: Promotes blood circulation in the lower legs and activates the calf muscles.
4. Lunges
How: Place one foot flat on the vibration plate and take a large step backward with the other leg, lowering your hips until both knees are bent at 90 degrees. Repeat on both sides.
Why: Isolates the legs and tests your balance

I was looking at that one on Amazon and am very tempted, although not keen on more histamine!

Do they help with saddlebags? If so I’m sold

Interesting! I’ve lost quite a bit and am still losing weight. Where did you read this? Do / did you have any sources?

I’m really happy it worked for you! (Or that you don’t have loose skin due to other factors. And congrats on the weightloss as well!)
