Vibration plate - what benefits have you noticed?

Lugol · 07/07/2026 06:44

My Mum has lipodema and wanted a vibration plate so I bought one for her and then one for myself.
I've used it a couple of times so far.
If you have one and you've been using it a while what benefits have you noticed?

Is this just going to be one of those things in the corner gathering dust or are there tangible benefits to it?

I used one in the noughties at our gym, and honestly didn't see any point. Maybe they're better now, and I realise your mum might have different needs ( I was very young and fit, not saying an older person can't be fit of course!), but it didn't impress me much.

Unpaidworkmakestheeconomytick · 07/07/2026 20:40

I’ve used one for years that does low intensity up and down ( vertical) vibrations. My bone density markers have improved from full on osteoporosis to osteopenia. I do 10 minutes most days. I just stand there and do my gratitude meditation.
I got my replacement one from Dolphin fitness for about £120 last year. It also helps when my legs get achy 🤣

Ive got lipedema and I find it very helpful bith in terms of pain relief and also it almost completely reduces the fluid pads that we typically get under the knees. If I dont do it for a few day they come back again so its definitely doing something for me .

This sounds useful. How do you use it to get rid of that?

This sounds exactly like what I need! Do you mind sharing which one you have? And how easy you find it to use?

I have lipedema and have heard good things with the vibration plates but wasn't sure whether to try them! Has you mum noticed any difference?

Gleba · 07/07/2026 22:17

Following with interest. My legs feel heavy at the end of the day and my ankles get swollen. I wonder if a vibration plate would help

loveyouradvice · 07/07/2026 22:24

Interesting ... how are most people using them? Do you just stand on it and let it do its thing? Im keen to try something low key having been unwell and would love to tone my legs, but not up for planks etc!! @Unpaidworkmakestheeconomytick @Theunamedcat @MichelleObamaArms and kudos to you @JoanofGaunt for doing SO much!!

Do they help with saddlebags? If so I’m sold

No, that’s running. Totally obliterated mine.

Uniqueheartbee · 07/07/2026 23:13

We have one and I love it. It feels so good!

I got sucked in by someone I follow on Instagram 🙈

This sort of thing.

Core Vibration Plate Exercises
1. Static Squats
How: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, toes pointed slightly outward. Push your hips back and lower into a squat as if sitting in a chair.
Why: Engages quads, glutes, and hamstrings while forcing your core to stabilize against the vibration.
2. Forearm Plank
How: Place your forearms on the vibration plate, keeping your body in a straight line from head to heels. Engage your core and hold for 30-60 seconds.
Why: Amplifies the intensity of a traditional plank, challenging your abdominal wall and shoulder stabilizers.
3. Calf Raises
How: Stand with the balls of your feet on the plate. Slowly rise onto your toes, hold for two seconds, and lower your heels.
Why: Promotes blood circulation in the lower legs and activates the calf muscles.
4. Lunges
How: Place one foot flat on the vibration plate and take a large step backward with the other leg, lowering your hips until both knees are bent at 90 degrees. Repeat on both sides.
Why: Isolates the legs and tests your balance

Stating the obvious here but all of those exercises are effective at building strength, stability, balance etc. if you just do them normally without buying a vibration plate Grin

😮Really?!?! I need one! How often do you use it and how long did it take to make a difference?

I just stand on it and use one of the programes they are 15 mins long and are of varying intensities. I dont do anything else just scroll instagram to pass the time !

I usually do the 15 mins programmes that are on the plate its varying intensities. I often will do another session in the evening . I can see a difference in the appearance of the fat pads within days and as I said if I dont do it for a while they come back. I really do feel it helps with the pain also

I got one from amazon I will look up the make there now for you. I just stand on it for 15 minute programme and often will do another 15 session later in the day too

LadyLexi · 08/07/2026 00:20

The one I have is by lifepro bought on amazon and was approx 160 euro . They have lots of different ones and different prices. I find it great for my lipedema and my mil uses it for her sciatica flare ups too. My son who does various martial arts etc uses it to warm up and cool down as well

Thanks, my under knee pads are painful so it's worth a try, have you seen any difference in ankle cuffs, if you have those?

Magpie50 · 08/07/2026 01:44

I've had mine a couple of years and use it 3 times a week when I'm weight training. It makes it abit more challenging to do squats, lunges, push ups,etc on the plate.
I originally got it to help with bone density but I have no idea if it helps. Also I dont think its done anything for my loose skin....I've also lost alot of weight and I look like a sharpei dog!

efeslight · 08/07/2026 05:01

Interesting thread. Thought about buying one a while ago. Will reconsider

olympicsrock · 08/07/2026 06:44

There is no actually medical level evidence for the claims about lymphatic drainage but they don’t do any harm .

She says she is noticing a difference with it but I don't know how often she is using it. She has a load of those compression socks that are all over Facebook and she says they are really good too.
She's also using a rebounder.

I think if it gets the lymph moving it's got to be good.

That's what my Mum has. Her ankles get really swollen and she found she can even use this while sitting down if she needs to (she's 78)

Some great replies on this thread, I will crack it out tonight and have a go.

I know you have to build it up slowly so only a few minutes to start with

Pilates teacher had a power plate one she was keen on having us use, offering free ten minute sessions after class.

It made me itch unbelievably, unbearably. Others in the class were fine using it even for longer sessions.

The lymphatic system relies on movement to counteract gravity having no pump of its own as the blood circulatory system has in the heart (and to a lessor extent the calves).

Any movement will help, anything that encourages you to move will help, too.

Neuronimo · 08/07/2026 08:16

I have the Mirach vibration plate form Amazon, which I use for twenty minutes five days a week. I have been using it whilst working out with light weights for twenty minutes and then twenty minutes on a walking pad. I have severe plantar fasciitis and it is much better on the days I use it. My legs and arms are much more toned than they were. My stomach is slowly improving using it for core exercises too.
