Anyone else finding themselves supporting DRC?

I'm a football fan, and I usually get behind the national team, even though often as individuals they're not very likable, but in this game they've been so awful, and DRC so up for it, I find my self thinking it will be a shame if DR Congo don't get anything from it.

SAMMMEEEEE 😂 they are gunning for it and should rightly send a rocket up our butts.

bur im secretly rooting for them. Their goal keeper has been stellar so far!!

I mean for their first World Cup since 1974 it’s really something to see them play like this, if they wins against us, their celebrations will be emotional for sure

My family hate me right now 😬

They have every right to!

No, I'm supporting the underdog 😭

maudelovesharold · 01/07/2026 18:26

On their performance so far, DRC deserve to win. Their goalkeeper is magnificent and they’ve got fire in their bellies - I don’t know why, but it’s something England seem to lack.

CadiFfan · 01/07/2026 18:26

Yes! Im welsh, always support the opposition.

the80sweregreat · 01/07/2026 18:27

Dr Congo are fab. England are just woeful

Treetreetreetree · 01/07/2026 18:28

Yes!!!

UniquePinkSwan · 01/07/2026 18:28

I’m Scottish. I’ll never support England

SilverBlue4 · 01/07/2026 18:28

The looks on the faces of the England fans when they scored really had me chuckling. Too confident going in, and this is what you get.

Iocanepowder · 01/07/2026 18:28

Me! But because DH is a season ticket holder and this is usually the only time of year i get a break from it.

KojaksLollipop · 01/07/2026 18:31

Absolutely no, no way. England all the way. They’re not playing great but I’m not switching away from my own country.

Cheesecake53 · 01/07/2026 18:34

Yes!!!!

LoopyGremlin · 01/07/2026 18:35

I love a shock result. Probably means more to the DRC than to England. I am Scottish though so would be unlikely to support England!

This! You don't switch what team you support based on them not playing well. I am English, I support my country however they play.

Yellow2024 · 01/07/2026 18:36

They are my sweepstake team so yes!!

RaraRachael · 01/07/2026 18:39

OH is watching it but I don't care who wins.

heyjudena · 01/07/2026 18:39

Really weird to be English and supporting anyone but England. Very performative.

emmetgirl · 01/07/2026 18:39

I (vaguely) support any team playing England. But really I don’t care tbh.
England are such horrible winners it makes me want them to lose. They won in 1966 and are still bloody going on about it now. If they won again it’d be unbearable. We’d never hear the last of it.

That is the strangest thing because I would always support any of the home nations if they're not playing England, and many English people I know are the same.
