How do you count business days?

I had a scan this morning, just before 9am.

They say they will have the results with me within 3 business days. In my mind, today was the first day - because of how early the scan was. Then tomorrow is day 2, and Wednesday day 3.

Is this correct?

I would assume they mean tomorrow is the first working day

See I’d think this if it was after 9am, but because it was before I feel like today was the first?

Id say tomorrow is day 1
So tomorrow day 1
Wednesday day 2
Thursday day 3

I would take it as 3 business days starting the day after the scan. It probably dosent matter when you had it. I would expect results by close of play Thursday.

I’d count a full 3 days between so expect result on Friday, and chase up then if not received.

Why? You don’t really have much choice. It takes as long as it takes.

Three full days. Tue, Wed, Thur. I’d ask on Friday if you haven’t heard.

I’m just so anxious, I’ve been waiting so long to get to this point. I thought the whole point was that it would be fast.

I'd try and ignore the business days as there are many unknowns, and focus on the fact that you should have your answer by Friday at the latest.

The waiting is the worst bit - you have my sympathies.

3 days is pretty quick tbf. I think tomorrow is day 1 too

Within 3 working days is fast.
Counting starts from the first working day after the event.

I get that you want the results quickly but it’s not uncommon to wait weeks for scans to be read and results shared. 3 working days after the day of your scan is lightening speed. I hope you get the result you want

Well, it depends how urgent it is. I had results of a CT scan within about 15 minutes.

Friday.

The wait is horrendous. They just email you, every email has had me on the edge of my seat

If you think about if they said 1 business day that would be tomorrow wouldn’t it. You wouldn’t think it meant same day.

It’s pretty common though to ‘under promise and over deliver’ so I hope that’s the case for you and the wait isn’t too long and results are what you hope.

Every hour feels like it’s dragging by. It’s almost maddening to think that someone out there has looked at the images by now and knows what’s wrong, but I don’t

Tbh, I would be surprised if someone has looked at it already. I know it's awful waiting, I've been there several times, but do try and focus on other things otherwise you'll drive yourself mad. Tell yourself that you'll know when you know and in the meantime, listen to a podcast, binge watch a series, paint the bathroom, bake cakes, anything that resets your thinking a bit.

Tomorrow first working day.

In medicine the day of the event (birth, operation, accident) is referred to as Day 0, day 1 is after midnight

If you haven't received the results by Friday morning, chase them up.

Think positive. Deal with the facts only. 💐

The technicians who scanned you are not qualified to see a result or make an opinion.

Your scan, along with everyone elses that day will be sent to the consultant who will have to diagnose, make notes, possibly recite a letter for their secretary who will call or send letter in due course.

3 working days is pretty good, although I don't know what you have been scanned for.

Today is business day 1.

Worrying about it is not going to change the result. Understandable to be worried but try to not let it overwhelm you. Best of luck.
