Anfield stadium not allowing people to take suncream to concerts?

So Anfield haven't been allowing people to take their own sunscreen into the Foo Fighters concerts.

They say that there are stations in the stadium but I wouldn't want to use some random sunscreen that will probably be all gunked up after the first 50 people have used it. I wouldn't trust it or the ingredients. My daughter is also VERY fussy about textures and sunscreen is a trigger. Plus, if it's hot and sweaty, I would need to reapply it which would potentially mean missing part of the concert I've paid a fortune for and losing my spot.

I get them not wanting to allow big bottles of factor 50 in in case people are trying to smuggle alcohol or whatever but surely that can be negated by asking people to decant into clear bottles?

Put on soltan 8 hour sunscreen beforehand and you’re fine

Not if you burn easily I need to apply every 40 mins

Prettypinkponies · 27/06/2026 19:46

We went to the Thursday show and got an email the day before stating you can take a travel size bottle of sun lotion (100ml or less and in plastic bottle only, no spray or roll-on)

It’s not true. You can take up to 100ml bottles in. I carry a 50ml one with me most of the time. I’ll be taking that with me next month to a Wembley concert.

CraftyNavySeal · 27/06/2026 19:49

Why would you need sunscreen for a concert that’s in the evening?

Comefromaway · 27/06/2026 19:52

Doors open at either 5pm or 6pm for these concerts. When we were queuing to get into Take That last weekend it was scorching. There isn’t always shade.

im currently sitting in my garden at 7.50pm and the sun is still blaring.

I'd heard that there's no such thing as a once a day sunscreen, not in reality when it comes to protection.

Riemann p50 does last all day but some don’t like it. Wouldn’t recommend wearing white with it.

CraftyNavySeal · 27/06/2026 19:59

The sun is out but the UV is low, if you put sunscreen on before you leave you’re not going to get burnt at 5pm

Venues shouldn't be allowed to do this. My son is going to a concert today and was stressed about taking a bottle of water. It is ridiculous. Yes ok someone might throw a bottle, but the damage caused to people by not being able to drink and use sunscreen is much greater!

You are allowed to take a sealed 500ml bottle of water into most venues. They take the lid off you on entry so that you can’t use it as a missile.

No way would that be enough for my skin, especially on a hot sweaty day. I'm not sure that's sensible advice

So you have to carry it around all day without the lid on? My days of stadium gigs are long ago, I can't imagine how that could work

I've had this happen too many times so always take a spare lid!💡

That just sounds crazy to me, trying to keep your water in a bottle without a lid all day

lovemelongtime · 27/06/2026 20:31

I was there in Thursday night for the Foo fighters concert. It was over 40 degrees under the roof at the back and there was no water available, as promised. But plenty of beer.

Dollymylove · 27/06/2026 20:57

First world problems 🤣

OhFeyreDarling · 27/06/2026 21:04

I was there Thursday evening and by the time I went in, 6.30 ish, there was only one stand in the sun anyway. Depends where you are.

Plus you can take 100ml bottle in so...

ETA there bag checks were cursory, if you're buying merch just stick it the clear bag and they don't even look

What a dickhead comment. I LOVE the sun, half my family don't and take sunburn very seriously. I'd bend over backwards for my daughter not to be burnt.

AhMh67 · 27/06/2026 21:29

Just use the 8 hour suncream before leaving house

Yes, they can say what they like but the skin experts say it's not reliable. I only know because I bought a one a day and burned! So I read about it. Too many variables, clothing, touching skin, sweat. So it rubs off etc.

What's the point of your comment, are you suggesting people can only bother about world affecting issues?

GellerYeller · 27/06/2026 22:16

Hi can anyone who went to Foo Fighters this week say how strict they were about bag sizes? Mine is millimetres larger than their specified A5 size and we are due there on Tuesday.
Apologies for derailing the thread!

Fizbosshoes · 27/06/2026 22:23

Ive never been to a concert where I havent managed to get something (normally food) in that is supposedly not allowed. They are often not that thorough checking bags

Yes as pp says have a spare lid in your bag/pocket. This has been a rule for decades and we just take extra lids.
Yesterday I went to take that and they didnt bother to take the lid off the drink I took (from outside the stadium).

lollypop42 · 27/06/2026 22:40

it’s a ridiculous rule; i hate some of the ridiculous rules venues enforce 😡

SourdoughSally · 27/06/2026 22:45

I went to a gig tonight with a sealed bottle of water. Had to open it, pour out the contents, and then refill it just inside the door, about 2 metres from where I poured it out. The whole world's gone mad I tell you
