I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

It is too hot to do either!

LittleBowSheep · 25/06/2026 11:13

30 degrees here in north Wales so far and forecast to hit 34. And there's no breeze, we always have a breeze but not today. I'm now a walking zombie from lack of sleep over the last few nights.

You may not want to leave the shop @cardibach. My local PO/ convenience shop was blissful yesterday with the aircon going.
We went to the cinema which was also blissful, a welcome three hours of cool air. Saw Disclosure Day which was very enjoyable nonsense.

I considered asking if I could come back and sleep in Sainsbury’s tonight…

It’s pretty hot in south Wales too. There is a breeze but it’s not a cooling one.
I agree @TemperanceWest - can’t be wasting hydration on tears or using muscles to laugh.

FFS. Red warning for extreme heat has been extended to Friday here.

TemperanceWest · 25/06/2026 11:45

Maybe this explains why Badenoch was so pissy yesterday:

Starmer: An Myghtern yw marow. Re vewo an Myghtern a'n North!

Reform UK councillors have introduced a motion to rescind King's Lynn and West Norfolk's climate emergency declaration and deprioritise decarbonisation efforts

The council were going to vote on it on Thursday

But the meeting has been postponed due to extreme heat

And the replies about the flood barriers...🫣😬

Raven08 · 25/06/2026 12:03

Yep.
Going to be hotter here tomorrow.
Ffs.

Efacsen · 25/06/2026 12:13

32 degrees with non-cooling breeze

placemats · 25/06/2026 12:25

Whisper it - we may get some rain tonight, but the temperature will stay at 22C. I'm putting the tent up. About 6 when it starts to cool down. Currently 30C here but there's a slightly cooling moderate breeze.

We have a thunderstorm warning for tonight and temps forecast to drop 10 degrees - 36 down to 26. Looking forward to it.

BIWI · 25/06/2026 12:30

Very little chance of rain here (<5%). And the Met Office is saying it's gong to be 37 tomorrow. Thank goodness I managed to buy a fan a couple of days ago!

I'm trying to decide whether to go for a swim

Me too. I’m a member of a health club and I regularly go for a swim there. I normally love the jacuzzi there, but bathing in hot water holds no attraction for me today.

LittleBowSheep · 25/06/2026 12:38

We have a local Storm Watch group on Facebook and they posted this earlier this morning:

A lot of weather to come over the next 48 hours, Some areas will see more storms then others with more updates during the day.
The UK and Ireland face one of the most dangerous setups for severe thunderstorms the region has seen in modern history.

Storms today will be capable of producing hail up to the size of golf balls, potentially even tennis balls, along with damaging winds. The greatest risk of an isolated strong tornado lies over Northern Ireland and southwest Scotland.

This is an exceptionally rare severe weather setup for this part of the planet.
This is complex with the hot air and cold weather fronts running into each other.

Weather forecast valid from 8pm this evening going into Friday morning

Later today a decaying cold front lifting north will provide sufficient lift in a very moist and hot environment to generate elevated thunderstorms across the southwest before building north through Wales and into the Midlands along the boundary of very hot air!!!

With CAPE exceeding 2500-3000J/KG widely across the UK this level is rare for the UK!!!

The lower atmosphere is very capped but the cold front introducing colder air aloft combined with nocturnal cooling will make for a very unstable environment above what is essentially a pressure cooker waiting to pop.

placemats · 25/06/2026 12:41

Mmm...I think putting the tent up will be abandoned. 😎😄

I had a vivid dream about huge hail stones two nights ago.

Take my money…

I think PMQs could be fun...

They need to work out how to get more people into gainful employment paying tax, not just squeezing those who do.

What ideas do you have for achieving that? There needs to be a genuine demand for that employment in order for it to be meaningful.

Agreed, but this will not be achieved by using the same failed tactics as before. If cutting benefits were the answer, we'd have no unemployment.

It would be disingenuous to say Kemi can see the black in anything ?

This is where under investing in the NHS is a permanent drain on the economy.

Just a back of a Tory manifesto calculation whereby we say if just 1% of the people waiting for something are either off sick or not earning their full potential, it's a drain on the economy.
