Nothing really

OP posts:
OutOfApricots · 21/06/2026 16:47

No activity apart from a wood pigeon I can hear cooing.

Seawolves · 21/06/2026 16:47

Absolutely nothing, it's as quiet as can be.

Buscobel · 21/06/2026 16:49

Nothing here either. No lawn mowers, no children, no cars.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 21/06/2026 16:49

I’m at MiL’s house but there has been some to-ing and fro-ing with the emergency services.

Three police cars have been and gone and now there’s an ambulance.

No sure what’s going on; it’s a very quite retirement area with lots of bungalows. Also, there has been zero noise.

StarPyjamas · 21/06/2026 16:51

The ice cream van has just arrived so I've talked DS into buying me a lemon sorbet.

Of course he ran out without his sliders, so is currently doing a weird dance from foot to foot in the queue.

TheyGrewUp · 21/06/2026 16:54

Nothing. We are at the end of a private road. Little ever passes. Birds, bees, neighbourhood cats.

Tiddlywinks63 · 21/06/2026 16:57

Absolutely nothing, all I can hear is the sparrows in the bushes outside my window. They’re feeding young, emptying the feeder nearly every day 😍

Noisy argument (well one person hurling abuse) at an elderly couple, which included threats of physical harm and a racist slur. It's calmed down now though and gone back to being relatively quiet.

LondonLass2026 · 21/06/2026 16:58

Nothing, except a family moved in a couple of months ago. A couple of streets away from me. He has a motorbike which he doesn't stop revving, and she has one of those awful cars with a spoiler on it. Both vehicles noisy as hell and I pity their immediate neighbours so much.

He's revving repeatedly as I type. Been doing so for about 20 minutes.

leporello · 21/06/2026 17:04

A group of young girls just passed, one carrying a large cardboard box.

Poor elderly couple. Did anyone step in, call the police?

TheignT · 21/06/2026 17:09

Nothing happening here. Neighbour mowed her lawn earlier but all quiet now.

Blueeyedmale · 21/06/2026 17:10

The big Brittany ferries boat is just coming past my window coming back from France or Spain other than that not much else going on.

JuliaBraverman · 21/06/2026 17:11

Birds and lawnmower at the back and a faint hum of traffic at the front.

Gettingbysomehow · 21/06/2026 17:12

People are going bananas on the Summer Solstice. There is loud drumming, hoardes of people on the Tor and cars and people everywhere here in Glastonbury.

RVectensian · 21/06/2026 17:12

Nothing. A horse went past a few minutes ago.

Bulbsbulbsbulbs · 21/06/2026 17:16

Nothing right outside my house, but at the bottom of the lane there is a music festival going on, I can hear it from my seat in the garden

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 21/06/2026 17:18

Nothing at all. It’s so quiet.

Mostly because my kids have gone out.

AgnesMcDoo · 21/06/2026 17:18

some bbqs going, people out walking kids out playing

RampantIvy · 21/06/2026 17:19

We live in a cul de sac off a cul de sac, with just 4 houses. Two sets of neighbours are on holiday so it is very quiet.

I doubt it, because unless the noisy person is willing to stand on the spot for 10/24/48 hours while the police come to investigate, there is very little point.

She is clearly known to the folk she was shouting at in any case, so I'm sure if they are sufficiently upset they can report it themselves. They didn't appear to be at all bothered though, in fact, the auld boy was openly mocking her.

TheIdlerReturns · 21/06/2026 17:19

Nothing.

holiholidays · 21/06/2026 17:20

Come on, OP. If you're going to do your usual plop and run, at least make it interesting 🙄. Put a bit of effort in.

ParmesanRealignment · 21/06/2026 17:20

The world outside is eerily quiet. A gigantic bank of cloud towering over the houses opposite is the colour of fresh bruising and looming ominously. The usual city-scape down the hill is hidden under a haze of clammy smog.

All the houses have their blinds and shutters closed against the heat - soon people will be opening the windows back up for the evening, welcoming the cooler air in and allowing the football cheers out.

The heat radiating off the usually respectable pavements here smells a bit vomitty for some reason.

Oh - there’s some life! A neighbour wheeling his bin out front. He’s pouring with sweat. The bin probably reeks to high heaven like mine does, food scraps simmered gently by the heatwave.

So no one could go out and say pack it in while elderly couple are being threatened. How do you know how long the police would take to respond? You've seen the duty rostas and know how many calls they are dealing with?
