Any good CF comeuppance tales?

As i'm currently going through the most mind-blowing CF situation, and waiting for the courts to open a case against them, please can you point me in the direction to the best CF threads where they got their comeuppance. This will hopefully give me some reassurance that CFs don't always get away with it!

Yes these are priceless and baffling in equal measures. Where I used to live, someone died falling from a lamppost putting up England flags and the syrupy eulogies were something else for someone with a long history of violence and football hooliganism...

The old 'rule' about not speaking ill of the dead is a complex one. Obviously if the now-deceased person could be annoying, a bit mean-spirited or maybe not a complete ray of sunshine at all times, there's probably no need to mention it at the funeral; but when it was a truly nasty, vile person who actively chose to be like that and blight so many other lives with it, and maybe even took personal pride from it... I wonder why it has to all be ignored.

Even so, silence can speak volumes. I once heard of somebody whose 'tribute' was something along the lines of "We're always told that we must never speak ill of the dead........" and then just left the front without a further word and went back to sit down!

From experience, it’s fairly usual for owners to request the cost of postage plus a charge for the trouble, before posting anything left behind. Has the owner requested similar?

There was a whole thread about this recently - somebody left some expensive tech in an AirBnB in Paris. The owner asked for a set fee for returning it and the thread was mostly full of people who believed the owner was a thieving CF and should have returned it as a favour or at least for strictly no more than the actual assumed tangible costs - and presumably the same for every single guest who doesn't bother to take two minutes to finally check the property before vacating.

That's an excellent way of doing it. I agree with @DugnuttEyeBoogies and @itsnotagameshow - you see these notices saying "lovable rogue", "cheeky chancer", etc., they're like doublespeak for an obvious wrong 'un.

In my infant and junior school, I and many others were relentlessly bullied by one individual. He was without mercy and frequently induced tears. In older secondary years, he was killed in a freak road accident (when arsing about on his bike, devastating the life of the driver involved). I was sorry for his mum, but the overwhelming sense was one of... not-surprisedness. Two girls from my year went round the classrooms asking for donations for his funeral and they came into my chemistry lesson. The teacher, a tiny but feisty lady, refused to give them anything and sent them packing. They were highly and vocally aggrieved. I was a very quiet student (that changed!) - but I remember thinking about the teacher's response "good for you. He spent hours devoted to making your life a f~cking misery. Why should you donate a single penny?!"

Just a minor one but still makes me smile. 30+ years ago when I did home care, there was a group of lads in our town, one of them.the owner of one those daft body modified cars, with fins and allsorts, tinted windows, loud bangy exhaust etc. They used to drive round town intimidating other motorists, the police could never quite catch them in the act.
One Saturday morning was driving to work at 7am and there parked in a side street was the car, all its windows smashed in and the tyres all punctured. Someone had clearly had enough of their antics 🤣🤣

Dh had an old aunt who had plenty of money but was notoriously tight - she absolutely loathed parting with any of it. She would moan at her long suffering cleaning lady who also did her shopping (no extra pay) because she hadn’t gone specially to a different shop for the butter, where it was 1p cheaper.

Dh spoke at her funeral, and said that if she’d known what the funeral was costing, there’d have been an almighty screech of ‘HOW MUCH??!!!!’

Everybody burst out laughing - they had all known her all too well!

I said exactly the same as you. I would pay and then some extra for taking time out of their day.

My friend was quite put out that he would have to pay anything and said its part of the service when you rent an air bnb!

My friend hasn't gone back to the air bnb to collect this item, doesn't want to pay the postage and is now talking about reporting the air bnb owner for theft.

Indeed it was. Confident, slow and deliberate, to demonstrate that he was protecting himself.

😂

OMG, it gets worse!! I’d wager conjuring that image during the divorce didn’t hurt your resolve Strawdolly, what a fecking eejit. I can see it perfectly in my mind too, the desperate grasp at a ‘and that’ how to minimise the impact’ demo, therefore anyone laughing at this educational moment would be crass and juvenile. That’s me bang to rights then* *😂

And when the expensive watch didn’t in fact arrive by post having been “lost” in the process, what then?!! Go and get your bloody watch or pay for a tracked courier!!!

DH and I turned off the main road on our bikes, DH had DS on the bike seat. There's a short section of bends there like a back to front Z before the road straightens out.

Impatient van driver overtook us...and smashed into the side of a car coming the other way.

Husband had a 6-week emotional affair ten years ago, followed by a shag with the OW in a cheap hotel, before breaking down and confessing. Not excusing him for taking her up on her numerous offers (over 2 previous years) at all, but I've long harboured a massive grudge against her as she knew me and knew I was struggling with 2 x under 4s at the time, one with SN.

Anyway, a friend works with her still and I just found out she has left her husband for a man with 13 struck off companies to his name, who runs 'how to be a proper man' coaching courses called something along the lines of 'Act Like A Spartan', and who posts on LinkedIn about his massive passive income from AI-related schemes (despite living in a small bungalow - maybe he's saving up for something?). Oddly, he still lists himself as MD of all the collapsed companies, too... Basically he's a massive con-man with a silver tongue. Looks like karma has not only come back to bite her, but it's got a grip like a starving Jack Russell. I'm getting the popcorn in.

What Karma has your husband had as I’d be far more concerned about him seeing as he was the actual one who broke his vows to you?

I don’t know if I mentioned this but an uncle by marriage who everyone in the family hated and made his wife and sons lives a misery ended up living by himself (albeit in a bought flat in Notting Hill and with with a rundown house in Spain), with an on off girlfriend and some family. He got cancer once or twice but sadly or not sadly succumbed to it 2 years ago. He was known as the poison dwarf and the manipulative man (in a newspaper article). His ex wife is thrilled. So are his sons. He’d occasionally mention his estranged sons on FB but they wanted NC at all with him. CFery involved him suing lots of people including police, death threats against his wife so police were on alert and she moved abroad. So less CFery more pure evil. He was in his early to mid 80s, I think so had a not bad innings, and sad to say I hope he suffered at the end. I could say more about him but some of his antics weren’t nice at all.

I was thinking about this thread the other day, and I realised that my favourite comeuppance story is all the people (many of whom appeared on Mumsnet threads) who said they had put their house in Trust, to avoid inheritance tax and often to stop their DILs being able to get their hands on much in the case of divorce, only for the fees the vast majority of the newly Trust-funded to turn out to cost more than they were actually managing to rob from the tax man.
