It's warm/hot are you wearing a dress today?

I got up this morning, forecast says warm to hot so went to the wardrobe and picked out a dress and sandals.

I've always done this, dressed for the weather. Do people still do this?

I'm in Spain.
It's roasting. I have several dresses on rotation

LittleGreenShoots · 17/06/2026 14:35

Yes.

Odd question. Working from home in a maxi dress like I have for weeks.

CoastalCalm · 17/06/2026 14:36

I’m wearing grey sweatpant suit but have got the back door open keeping temps down - keeps threatening rain

Goldendoodlef · 17/06/2026 14:36

I don't look at the weather forecast but dress according to the weather in the morning.

It might be sunny in the morning so I'll wear something sunny and head to work, then get caught out by a change in the weather.

Today its warm so I'm wearing shorts and a t shirt around the house while wfh. Will change later when heading out.

Honeyhonay · 17/06/2026 14:36

What an odd question, most people clearly dress for weather. Why would it be a thing of the past? It’s unusual to see people in winter coats walking around in summer.

Even if it’s hot dressing for the weather doesn’t necessarily mean a dress and sandals though.

It’s only 20 here and cloudy with on and off showers, which seems similar to much of the country. I’m in jeans, a blouse and flats.

PurpleLovecats · 17/06/2026 14:37

Nope, I’m in pjs. I don’t get dressed anymore as I don’t go anywhere so there’s no point.

I saw your forecast the other day. Sheesh it's getting hot.

I don't understand, OP. Why do you think people wouldn't dress for the weather?

AnonymityAnonymity · 17/06/2026 14:43

I must say OP when the weather is warm I hate wearing trousers. They are so uncomfortable in the heat. I will wear shorts depending on what activity I'm doing or where I'm going.
But I 've always preferred to wear a skirt and a top or a dress when it's warm so the air can circulate .

Similarly I can't wear trainers or shoes in the heat. Always sandals.

They threatened rain here too. The south east looks to be really heating up in the next week, but in n Wales we'll be a lot cooler.

I never really wear dresses. Shorts or leggings are my go to. Too much chub rub for skirts or dresses

I went to the old T-shirt and pyjama trousers I left on the floor last night and put them on again. I’m working from home today so no, I’m not wearing a dress but I am dressed for the weather.

I feel too plump for shorts I've rugby players thighs. I'm sure they're cool though.

It’s chilly here. I wear floaty long at about 29/30+, but my curtain/window protocol also comes into effect then.
But today I’m wearing a cardigan - make of that what you will

That's it for me, air circulation. In cold weather skirts, dresses are too brrr for me. So it's lovely to just put on less garments.

It wasn't that warm when I woke up so I'm wearing a chicken fancy dress outfit that was previously used to promote a local restaurant. Absolutely boiling now though.

pinkpony88 · 17/06/2026 14:57

No I’m not dressed for the weather. It was throwing it down this morning so I put a hoodie on. Now it’s really warm and I’m too hot but honestly just can’t be bothered to get changed 🫢
