Wealthy banker with connections to royalty is arrested in hunt for notorious 'Putney Pusher' | Daily Mail Online

I vividly remember this case which still haunts me and cannot believe it was ten years ago. Finally someone has been arrested who appears to be an ex army wealthy man.

I hope he is charged - so arrogant.

Agree. He really doesn’t seem that senior.

Broken marriage, not that senior, earns less than a lot of the people he works with even though he may earn a lot, it's all about what others earn, unhappy angry misogynistic man. It's all coming together.

Surely the pusher wouldn't have done such an interview. You'd have to be a special kind of stupid. Or maybe supremely arrogant. The latter does fit a lot of men people.

I'dhave thought the usual bets are off with this attacker and normal behaviour!

(I obviously don't know if he's the pusher or not, and there have been multiple arrests with no charge in this case already)

Does anyone have a link to a video of The Hyde Park incident? I can find the story but can’t access it and based on the comments here, it was clearly a big incident.

@Chiapotayto it's here eta; sorry that's the Putney bridge incident 🙈

Lalgarh · 16/06/2026 10:16

The fact he ran back the other way a few minutes later suggests he either knew and didn't care or will try and claim he had no memory of the initial incident.

And I'm hoping that the Police would have been canny enough to figure out he'd probably run that route before in earlier weeks to be able to track his movements in areas with other CCTV to work out his usual haunts but who knows

Surelythistime · 16/06/2026 10:17

For attempted murder don’t they need to be able to prove intent to kill?

The only thing they have to go on at the moment is that video so I think they’re being cautious with the charge because they might not he able to prove from it that he did intend to kill her rather than just get her hurt.

The guy ran back past the woman he'd pushed in front of a bus 15 minutes earlier. Staying low key is not a concern of his.

If it's divorce, I hope she has a SHL.

If that is the case and she has known for years, I hope she is arrested too.

Nothing to arrest her for unless she's done something like given a false alibi, as there's no legal duty to actively disclose in most cases. Which is a good thing, for two reasons.

One is that a man who behaves like this to a random woman in the street is an obvious risk to any woman in his personal life. The other is that it's a bad idea to give people such a substantial disincentive to come forward.

Undercookedby10 · 16/06/2026 10:36

The accused seems to have been in court before....

Why didn't the people who knew go to the police?

Yes imagine lots of people close to you knowing you could just randomly shove a strange woman under a BUS and not anonymously tip the police off. I wish everyone who knew could get named and shamed so people can see who covers up people like that.

Backedoffhackedoff · 16/06/2026 08:59

It really wasn’t tbh. Careless driving and not stopping. No one was hurt.

typical narc though represented himself and banged on about his tours of iran in court.

Really? I had no idea that was the law-you learn something new every day!

Fair enough!

If you think about it, it's not really practical to have a law that deters people from coming forward later on. Obviously in an ideal world everyone would cooperate immediately but that doesn't always happen. And people who do stuff like this are often... not the nicest. Which includes to their loved ones.

Is that (allegedly) the same man?? Sorry I've not caught up with earlier messages

I’ve heard the police say ‘allegiances change over the years’ when looking for information re very old cases before.

I’m amazed at this, I saw the footage at the time, it was only pure luck that she didn’t die.

The bus drivers quick reaction to swerve most definitely saved her from serious injury. Why on earth he pushed her is mystifying, what a sadistic thing to do, absolutely vile!

Released on bail.

Interestingly, 20 mins ago, the BBC page was saying "released on bail pending further inquiries" but now just says "released on bail"

CCTV still image from the inside of a bus showing a man in a grey T shirt and shorts running.

Man bailed over woman allegedly pushed into path of bus in Putney

A man is bailed after being arrested in the case of a woman who was pushed into a road in 2017.

I think it could have been fatal if he hadn’t swerved. Quick thinking indeed.

I was waiting for the lights to change to cross a street and noticed a man looking at me from the opposite side. AS he got near me he veered ever so slightly into my path and like a tank ploughed into me hurting me in the clavicle, which hurt for several days. I am 5.10 in height and only reached his shoulder. A more petite woman would´ve bounced off him to the floor. Another guy stopped to asked me if ok and gave the guy´s back a filthy look. They walk among us. He did it on purpose.

Yet another thing for women to watch out for, male joggers who target women.

Off topic but I'm now nervous about station platforms after reading of people being pushed under trains and the perpetrator melting into the crowd. Irrational I know.

Not irrational at all. I always stand well back.

I gave up cycling to work in London because I got harassed so much by male pedestrians / cyclists / drivers.

It was exhausting.

Ahh, how do we know all of this?

Would explain why he's suddenly been grassed up new evidence has come to light.

Hopefully the ex wives are living in luxury at his expense. Although now he may soon start living in luxury at the tax payers expense.. still not a bad thing if it proves to be the case that the person suggested is the sociopath misogynistic pusher.

It even mentions them on Wikipedia.

Though I suspect he will soon hire the same lawyers as the lady involved in the Wimbledon crash and all evidence of him and his family will be duly scrubbed off the internet.

I hear you. I was once driving behind a male driver on a quiet residential street who was so incensed that the female driver coming in the other direction had right of way that when he couldn’t bully / scream her into giving him way, he drove onto the high pavement to avoid giving her way.

He preferred to damage his car rather than ‘lose face’ in front of a woman. When he left, the woman and I pulled up beside each other, I reassured her he was crazy, she was that shocked.
