Wealthy banker with connections to royalty is arrested in hunt for notorious 'Putney Pusher' | Daily Mail Online

I vividly remember this case which still haunts me and cannot believe it was ten years ago. Finally someone has been arrested who appears to be an ex army wealthy man.

I hope he is charged - so arrogant.

Hopefully it's the right man because as this thread shows, if it's a fit up, the public appetite for absolutely anyone to go down for this is apparently quite high.

I think people want the actual man who blithely pushes women in front of buses in London found and jailed, funnily enough.

DierdreDaphne · 15/06/2026 12:06

Whike like everyone else here I am extremely keen for the culprit to ne caught and punished, the Police, and the Mail (and all media including socials) ought to be VERY careful how much they reveal about the identity of the suspect as his lawyers could argue that the publicity might compromise a fair trial.

Strictly I think 'contempt of court' kicks in when the suspect is formally charged but it would be a shame if this individual's (bound to be) expensive lawyers weasel him out of it on this basis.

But my God if it is him.... hopefully it's attempted murder

DugnuttEyeBoogies · 15/06/2026 12:06

Fjngers crossed they’ve got the right man this time. Attempted GBH? Attempted murder more like, she was centimetres from death under a bus.

The absolute entitlement, arrogance and lack of any human care in his actions was horrifying. Sociopathic cunt.

Whatwerewetalkingabout · 15/06/2026 12:12

He's been charged with "attempted GBH" surely it's attempted murder to push someone in front of a double decker bus? The fact that he came back to have a look 15 minutes later is even more chilling.

Also why were so many bankers arrested, how did they know it was a banker? It's very disconcerting. Hope the victim has some peace knowing he's been finally arrested though. Xx

LaurieFairyCake · 15/06/2026 12:14

So happy about this.

PeoniesAreMyFavouriteFlowers · 15/06/2026 12:14

Attempted GBH? Really? Minimising what he did surely.

While I'm glad his crime beard finally came clean kind of fuck her for covering up for this long

If it is a former partner, they may well be a victim of domestic violence from him themselves and too scared to come forward. Or they may not have been in a relationship at the time and only recognised him after seeing the footage again recently.

banmusk · 15/06/2026 12:24

This is great news 😊

Xiaoxiong · 15/06/2026 12:25

@PeoniesAreMyFavouriteFlowers I'm assuming because they don't think they're going to be able to gather sufficient evidence to prove that he intended to kill her (attempted murder) vs intended to very seriously injure her (attempted GBH).

It was a truly callous event that has stayed with a lot of
people (especially women as we all know he wouldn’t have tried to do that to a man).

If someone pushed you under a bus, wouldn’t you want him found?

hugasaurus · 15/06/2026 12:27

Finally! I’ve always been surprised he was never caught as the footage was decent enough and he would have been recognisable to people who knew him.

Same

Bananadramatic · 15/06/2026 12:31

Had missed this news, thank you for flagging OP. I remember this too - and think about it every time I cross the bridge.

beadystar · 15/06/2026 12:31

Finally. That footage hasn't left me. What an absolute sociopath.

Candleabra · 15/06/2026 12:33

God I was only talking about this yesterday. I really hope they’ve got the right person. This is a story that’s never left me.

It's not unusual for people in the city to get to work early and go for a run from the office. I bet a bunch of people could have known it was him. The charge seems woefully understated. It's a miracle that poor woman didn't die.

JulietteHasAGun · 15/06/2026 12:35

Hoardasurass · 15/06/2026 11:30

I expect him to go with the It wasn't me defence.

I wonder who he pissed off enough to hand the police new information though

I expect so. Everyone has a doppelgänger or even just people who look similar. I doubt he has the same trainers or clothes now. So unless he was using Strava ten years ago and recorded his run or they can prove from mobile phone records he was there not sure he’ll be found guilty. Interesting no name has been released yet.

BillieWiper · 15/06/2026 12:35

Do they know for certain that he was a stranger to the victim?

I just can't imagine what kind of person would do such a thing. I bet he'll claim he was having temporary acute psychosis or something or if he's ex army he might wheel out the excuse of PTSD?

LizzieSiddal · 15/06/2026 12:35

The bus driver deserves a mention here.
If he hadn’t braked in time that poor woman would not be here. Apparently he’s still drives his bus over that bridge everyday!

Let’s hope they’ve got the right man and he spends a very long time in prison. Attempted GBH can carry a sentence of Life in prison.

No it isn’t. I don’t think anyone is looking for just “anyone” to go down ? Would be good to find the actual perpetrator though

Attempt gbh is easier to prove than attempt murder. They’ll go with what they think they’ll have most chance of proving in court.

SilverPink · 15/06/2026 12:39

Ive never heard this story, but reading that link it seems when she was being looked after on the bridge afterwards he ran past again and she called to him but he didn’t stop. Shame there wasn’t some big beefy bloke willing to run after him and grab him.

Yes and he swerved. Tg he had space to do that.

BettyyB00 · 15/06/2026 12:41

His house is 'only' worth 1.4 mill according to the DM article here - so he's not that wealthy, in London banking terms..

BettyyB00 · 15/06/2026 12:41

The bus driver is a hero
