Wealthy banker with connections to royalty is arrested in hunt for notorious 'Putney Pusher' | Daily Mail Online

I vividly remember this case which still haunts me and cannot believe it was ten years ago. Finally someone has been arrested who appears to be an ex army wealthy man.

I hope he is charged - so arrogant.

Why would someone take their own life if they knew they were the wrong person. The person was in the Army, and worked in "private banking", such a person would have a level of IQ which if they were innocent knew they could ride it out, and possibly get compensated.

The sister seems a lawyer, so I doubt they had lack of legal brain cells.

Yes his sisters were on the radio this morning. They say there are delays in the DNA evidence that would exonerate him and they believe the police tipped off the media. He was named as the suspect on social media. They claim he had alibis because he was working at an office that day miles away and sent email at the time of the push.

It's perfectly possible for someone rich and with resources to become suicidal. He just seems to have spiralled

AllJoyAndNoFun · 18/09/2026 09:55

I think the physical things do cast doubt on it- like surely the witnesses at the time would have mentioned a forearm tattoo and a withered leg?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/09/2026 12:23

Can anyone explain how there is DNA evidence? He left traces from just one quick shove?

Very sad if so.

understandably his family are devastated, but he did have a previous conviction for hitting a female cyclist with his Harley and leaving the scene. And drugs offences.

on Reddit the tattoo is shown on the inside of the forearm, not visible to the camera.

I don't understand how DNA evidence can exonerate him. If there's no match doesn't that just mean there was no transfer of DNA? It's not proof that he wasn't there. And I've done jury service in a case with fake emails produced as evidence so I'd be sceptical about that as proof as well. But I haven't seen any actual evidence that it really was him. Unless they miraculously find and convict someone else we'll probably never know.

Calliopespa · 18/09/2026 13:37

I actually think people should just shut up.

Whether he was or wasn't guilty, did or didn't know it, he was a father.

No child deserves to have conjecture by strangers around that sort of situation of great loss.

AplineDaisies · 19/09/2026 10:13

There was enough evidence to investigate him. It was an ex wasn't it who dobbed him in?

CaesarAugusta · 19/09/2026 10:17

I don't think the eye colour argument goes anywhere. I struggle to discern the colour of his eyes from photographs, while the victim had only a very quick glimpse and must have been in shock.

Whoopiedooo · 19/09/2026 11:37

I also don't understand about the DNA evidence, was there any? I also didn't think he looked as much like the blurry video as some of the earlier suspects, but it is blurry and none of his posed photos are in the middle of a run at 6am(?).
Juries wouldn't be allowed to know about previous convictions, but the the motorcycle incident is quite compelling tbh.

This is a good point. In this case the public judgement is based on information the jury would not have. There’s a reason they’d not have it.
